## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## New Investment Advisers — SEC, ERA and state RIA registrations, scored for B2B sales

Every investment adviser whose registration **became effective** in the last N days, from the SEC's **IAPD daily compilation feeds** (the same public data behind adviserinfo.sec.gov), with the Form ADV facts that matter to a seller and a deterministic **0–100 lead score**. A newly approved adviser has a compliance program to build, a custodian to choose, books and records to archive, cyber controls to document and E\&O to place — and it is public within a day or two of the order. The SEC's monthly bulk file lags by a month and omits state registrants; this reads the daily feeds.

### What you get per registration

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `name`, `crd`, `secNumber` | `Alpha Edison Management Company, LLC`, `284514`, `801-137320` |
| `kind`, `regStatus`, `regDate` | `sec` · `sec_120` · `era` · `state`, `APPROVED`, `2026-10-23` |
| `leadScore`, `personas`, `flags` | `87`, `["compliance_consulting","ria_tech","fund_services","custodian"]`, `["private_funds","10_plus_employees","has_custody"]` |
| `headline`, `summary` | `Alpha Edison Management Company, LLC registers with the SEC (Los Angeles, CA)` · `Effective 2026-10-23. 10 employees (7 advisory), $738M regulatory AUM across 34 accounts. Advises private funds…` |
| `raum`, `raumBucket`, `accounts`, `employees`, `advisoryEmployees` | `738000000`, `500m_2b`, `34`, `10`, `7` |
| `privateFunds`, `bdAffiliate`, `custody`, `performanceFees`, `disciplinary`, `eraVentureOnly` | booleans from Form ADV Items 5, 7, 9, 11 |
| `street`, `city`, `state`, `zip`, `phone`, `website` | the main office as filed |
| `orgForm`, `stateOfOrg`, `noticeStates`, `stateRegistrations` | `Limited Liability Company`, `DE`, `["CA","NY"]`, state approvals with dates |
| `iapdUrl` | the public firm page on IAPD |

### How the score works

Deterministic rules, no black box. SEC registration starts at 55; a **120-day-rule** approval at 62 (the firm must reach $100M in regulatory AUM within 120 days or withdraw, and usually has no custodian or compliance program yet); exempt reporting advisers at 38; state registrations at 32. Plus regulatory-AUM tiers, +8 for private-fund advisers, +5 for broker-dealer affiliates (breakaways), +6 at ten or more employees, +3 for a website, +4 when notice-filed in five or more states; −15 for a disciplinary disclosure.

`personas` says who the firm is relevant to: `compliance_consulting`, `ria_tech` (CRM, portfolio, billing), `custodian`, `archiving_surveillance`, `cyber_msp`, `eo_insurance`, `fund_services` (administration and audit for private-fund advisers), `recruiting_platforms` (breakaways).

### Input

- **Lookback (days)** — registrations effective within this window (default 14, up to 120).
- **Registration kinds** — SEC, SEC 120-day, exempt reporting, state (default: all).
- **Main-office states**, **Minimum lead score**, **Private-fund advisers only**, **Maximum records** (cost control).
- **User-Agent** — a contact string for the SEC's servers; optional.

### Pricing

Pay per event. The first 25 records of every run are free. After that, a per-record charge (`Lead`), with a higher charge for records scoring 70+ (`premium-lead`). Filtered-out firms are never charged. A typical month has roughly 150–250 SEC and 120-day approvals, 150–300 exempt reporting advisers and 300–600 state registrations.

### Source and limits

Public SEC IAPD compilation feeds (`IA_FIRM_SEC_Feed`, `IA_FIRM_STATE_Feed`), regenerated daily; two ~12 MB downloads per run. Form ADV publishes the main-office phone, address and website; the chief compliance officer's name and email (Item 1J) are withheld from the public record and are not provided or inferred. Not investment, legal or tax advice.

### Using it from an AI agent

This Actor is available as an MCP tool through Apify's MCP server; the input schema above is the tool contract. Ask your agent for "advisers that registered with the SEC in the last 14 days in Texas with private funds".

# Actor input Schema

## `lookbackDays` (type: `integer`):

Return registrations that became effective within this many days of today (1–120). The feeds are republished daily; a registration appears 1–2 days after the order.

## `kinds` (type: `array`):

sec = SEC-registered ($100M+ RAUM), sec_120 = SEC under the 120-day rule (expects $100M within 120 days; usually a brand-new firm), era = exempt reporting adviser (VC / private fund <$150M), state = state-registered.

## `states` (type: `array`):

Two-letter US state codes to keep (empty = all).

## `minScore` (type: `integer`):

0–100. 40 is the default feed floor; 60+ is a firm with assets or staff; 70+ is 'call this week'.

## `privateFundsOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only firms that report advising private funds (fund administrators, auditors, prime brokers).

## `maxLeads` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many records (cost control; you are charged per record returned).

## `userAgent` (type: `string`):

Contact string sent to the SEC's servers (e.g. 'Acme Research jane@acme.com'). Optional.

# Actor output Schema

## `advisers` (type: `string`):

One item per newly effective adviser registration: firm identity, registration kind and date, Form ADV facts (RAUM, employees, custody, private funds, broker-dealer affiliate), contact details, 0–100 lead score, personas, flags, headline and summary.

## `advisersCsv` (type: `string`):

The same items as a CSV download.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Feed dates, window, counts by kind, records pushed and charged.
