## Pricing

Pay per usage

This Actor is paid per platform usage. The Actor is free to use, and you only pay for the Apify platform usage, which gets cheaper the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

**Federal Contractor / Incumbent Lookup by UEI** profiles any U.S. federal contractor from official USAspending.gov data. Enter a UEI or company name and get a 5-year federal contract profile: total obligations, top agencies and NAICS codes, and every contract they hold that is expiring soon, so you know the incumbent before the recompete. It is free to use, needs no API key, and you can batch many UEIs or names in one run.

### What does the federal contractor lookup return?

Output per query:

- the matched contractor names and UEIs
- awards analyzed (up to 500, largest first) and **total obligated**
- **top 10 agencies** and **top 10 NAICS** by obligations
- **contracts expiring within N months** (default 24), with end date, value, description and a USAspending link
- the total obligated value expiring in that window

Source: official USAspending.gov API. No key, no scraping of logged-in pages.

### Use cases for incumbent research

- Competitive intel before a recompete: who holds the work and how much of their book is up
- Teaming partner and acquisition target screening
- Enriching a CRM list of government contractors (batch many UEIs per run)

### How to look up a federal contractor by UEI

1. Add one or more 12-character UEIs or company names to `queries`.
2. Optionally set `monthsAhead` for the expiring-contracts window.
3. Run the Actor and export the profiles as JSON, CSV or Excel.

#### Example input

```json
{"queries": ["RXN6RGGRJD71", "Booz Allen Hamilton"], "monthsAhead": 18}
```

### FAQ

#### Is this contractor lookup free?

Yes. The Actor is free; you only use your normal Apify platform credit.

#### UEI or company name: which is better?

A UEI is matched exactly. A name is matched as free text and can include affiliated entities whose names or parents match; check `incumbentNames` and `ueis` in the output.

#### Are individual contractors included?

No. Sole proprietors registered under a personal name are **not profiled**. Their awards are left out and counted in `individualContractorAwardsWithheld`.

#### Where do I find the contracts to look up?

Use [USAspending Expiring Contracts & Recompete Scraper](https://apify.com/code54dev/expiring-federal-contracts) to list expiring contracts and their incumbents' UEIs.
