## Pricing

Pay per usage

This Actor is paid per platform usage. The Actor is free to use, and you only pay for the Apify platform usage, which gets cheaper the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

**Grants.gov Scraper: Nonprofit Grant Deadlines** pulls every open and forecasted federal grant your nonprofit is eligible for from Grants.gov, with deadlines, days left and award amounts, as clean JSON, CSV or Excel. Filter by keyword, eligibility (default: 501(c)(3) and other nonprofits), status, funding category and closing date, then schedule it weekly as a grant deadline radar. It is free to use and runs on the official Grants.gov APIs, with no API key.

### What data does this Grants.gov scraper extract?

- Filters: keywords, **eligibility** (default: 501(c)(3) and other nonprofits), status (forecasted/posted), funding category, and closing within N days
- Each grant opportunity has: title, number, agency, open and close dates, **days until close**, Assistance Listing (CFDA) numbers, **award ceiling and floor**, estimated total funding, expected number of awards, eligibility list and notes, cost sharing, a plain-text summary, and the Grants.gov link

Source: the official **Grants.gov Search2 and fetchOpportunity APIs** (public, no key).

### Use cases for federal grant data

- A weekly **grant deadline radar**: schedule it with your keywords and send the results to Sheets, Slack or email through Apify integrations
- Grant writers and consultants tracking opportunities for several clients
- Feeding grant opportunities to an AI assistant

### How to scrape Grants.gov for nonprofit grants

1. Enter keywords (for example `youth mentoring`) and keep the default nonprofit eligibility, or change it.
2. Optionally set `closingWithinDays` to only get firm deadlines.
3. Run the Actor and export, or schedule it weekly.

#### Example input

```json
{"keywords": "youth mentoring", "eligibility": "12|13", "closingWithinDays": 90, "maxResults": 200}
```

### FAQ

#### Is this Grants.gov scraper free?

Yes. The Actor is free; you only use your normal Apify platform credit. Turn off `enrich` for a faster, list-only run.

#### Why do some grants have no close date?

Forecasted opportunities often have no close date yet, so set `closingWithinDays` only if you want firm deadlines. Always confirm the details on Grants.gov before you apply.

#### Which eligibility codes mean nonprofit?

`12` = 501(c)(3) nonprofits, `13` = nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status, `25` = others. Join codes with `|`.
