## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## UK Company Leads

Get lists of UK companies straight from Companies House: new limited companies in Manchester this month, every IT company in Bristol, or all construction firms incorporated in Leeds this year. Optionally add each company's website, generic company email and social media pages.

**For business use only (B2B).**

### What you can do with it

- **Find new customers early.** Newly incorporated companies need accountants, banks, insurance, websites, IT and office space. Run it monthly and reach them first.
- **Build regional or industry lists** for sales, marketing or market research.
- **Find companies without a website.** Web agencies and marketers can target businesses that have no online presence yet.

### Input

| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Towns, cities or postcodes | `Manchester`, `BS1` | Matched against the registered office address. Leave empty for the whole UK. |
| Incorporated on or after / before | `2026-09-01` | Incorporation date range. |
| SIC codes | `62`, `56101` | SIC 2007 code or prefix: 62 IT, 41/43 construction, 56 restaurants, 69 accounting and legal. |
| Company type | Ltd | Ltd, PLC or LLP. Active companies only. |
| Find website, emails and social links | on/off | You only pay for companies where a website is found. |
| Max companies | `1000` | Stops after this many. |

### Output

One row per company. Download as Excel, CSV, JSON or HTML, or use the API.

```json
{
  "companyNumber": "16712345",
  "name": "NORTHERN PIXEL STUDIO LTD",
  "companyType": "Private limited company",
  "sicCodes": "62012",
  "industry": "Business and domestic software development",
  "street": "12, Oldham Street",
  "city": "Manchester",
  "region": "",
  "postCode": "M1 1JN",
  "country": "England",
  "registrationDate": "2026-09-03",
  "website": "https://northernpixel.co.uk",
  "websiteMatch": "companyNumber",
  "emails": "hello@northernpixel.co.uk",
  "socials": "https://instagram.com/northernpixel",
  "source": "Companies House, contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0"
}
```

(Example values are illustrative.)

With **Find website, emails and social links** on:

- `website` and `websiteMatch` show how the site was matched:
  - `companyNumber`: the company's registration number was found on the site (UK companies must show it on their website).
  - `name`: the company name plus its postcode, town or a +44 phone number were found on the site.
- `emails`: generic company addresses only (info@, sales@, enquiries@ ...).
- `socials`: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X pages.

Very new companies often have no website yet, so expect fewer contacts for last month's incorporations.

### Pricing

You pay only for results:

- **Company data:** $3 per 1,000 companies.
- **Website found:** $0.03 per company where we find and verify the website (with its generic emails and social links). Companies where nothing is found cost nothing extra.

So 1,000 companies with contacts turned on, of which 80 have a website, cost $3 + 80 × $0.03 = $5.40.

Set a maximum cost per run in Apify, and the run stops when it's reached.

### Privacy and UK GDPR

- Only limited companies, PLCs and LLPs. Sole traders are not on the register.
- Directors and other people are not included.
- Personal email addresses (such as firstname.lastname@) are never collected, only generic company addresses.
- "Care of" names and PO boxes are removed from addresses.

### Using the data for marketing

Under PECR, you can generally email limited companies and LLPs without prior consent, as long as you say who you are and offer an easy opt-out. Sole traders and partnerships need consent. You are responsible for following the law where you use the data.

### FAQ

**How fresh is the data?** Every run reads Companies House live, so new incorporations appear within a day or two.

**Why is a company's website missing?** Companies House doesn't record websites, and we couldn't match one safely. We prefer leaving it empty over returning the wrong company's site.

**Can I get directors' names, phone numbers or named contacts?** No. They are personal data, so we leave them out.
