## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Amazon US Search & Product Scraper

Collect Amazon.com search results, product details by ASIN, and seller catalogue listings for research, monitoring and data pipelines. Prices include source infrastructure; no Amazon login or external scraper subscription is required.

[Read the step-by-step API guide](https://dev.to/commercestack/how-to-collect-amazon-us-product-data-by-asin-with-apify-423l) for search, ASIN lookup and seller catalogs.

### Quick start

Choose a mode and add ASINs, search phrases or merchant IDs. For a first product lookup:

```json
{"mode":"lookup_only","products":["B0BS1QCFHX"],"maxItems":1}
```

For search:

```json
{"mode":"search_only","queries":["sony headphones"],"maxPagesPerSource":2,"maxItems":24}
```

For a seller catalogue:

```json
{"mode":"seller_catalog","sellerIds":["A294P4X9EWVXLJ"],"maxPagesPerSource":2,"maxItems":40}
```

A page or item limit returns bounded, partial coverage. It does not mean the entire catalogue has been collected.

### What you receive

| Mode | Data |
|---|---|
| `search_only` | Listing title, ASIN, product URL, cover image, displayed price/rating and source placement when present |
| `lookup_only` | Product identity, title, image gallery, featured offer or explicit no-price state, source seller/rating and verified delivery context |
| `products` | Lookup fields plus source-visible attributes, description, bullets, observed variants, categories and other available product details |
| `seller_catalog` | Merchant-filtered listing traversal; `enrichProducts: true` retrieves full cards |

Only Amazon.com is supported. Delivery context defaults to ZIP 10001/USD and must be verified in the source response. Set `locations.com.postalCode` to another five-digit US ZIP if needed. Prices reflect that context and may vary by location/time. Amazon may withhold a price until cart: this produces `priceVisibility: cart_required`, not a fabricated price. No cart actions are performed.

This Actor collects source data; it does not identify clones. Text reviews, full seller-offer inventory, variant hydration and other Amazon marketplaces are not included. Observed variant ASINs do not imply hydrated variant cards. Seller catalogue merchant identity is distinct from the featured seller.

A source-selected used-only offer is marked `featuredOffer.condition: Used`. Compare prices only for the same ASIN, delivery context and condition; an unknown condition is not assumed to be New.

### Pricing

| Event | Price per 1000 successfully parsed products |
|---|---:|
| Search / un-enriched seller listings | $0.60 |
| Product lookup | $2.40 |
| Full product / enriched seller products | $2.40 |

No start fee. Source infrastructure is included. Only durable product rows without extraction failures are charged. Source-occurrence rows, duplicates of the same product within a run, confirmed missing products and failed products are not charged. Distinct runs are distinct observations. A source-absent optional field is not an extraction failure. Normal platform storage usage after a run may incur Apify storage charges.

### Use results correctly

Filter dataset rows by `recordType: product`. `occurrence` rows link source/page/position to a product and are not additional products. Inspect `MANIFEST` even when the run succeeds: it reports completed/partial/failed, coverage limits, missing items, technical failures and unattempted inputs.

`fieldAvailability` distinguishes present, source_absent, not_requested and extraction_failed. `product_not_found` requires the recognised Amazon missing-page response. A timeout, block, unknown404 or absent price is never product deletion. Useful partial products are preserved.

Results are written incrementally. Controlled migration resumes checkpoints; ambiguous storage or charge acknowledgements halt for reconciliation instead of blindly repeating them. Keep `restartOnError: false` and inspect interrupted runs before starting another. Set Apify maximum cost and Actor page/item/request/time limits appropriate to your task.

### Validation and limits

A public build 0.0.5 sample processed 25 US ASINs in 43.9 seconds: 24 product rows were returned, 21 were chargeable, and one input remained unresolved. The manifest correctly reported partial coverage. Earlier bounded development tests returned 25/25 cards and two seller scans returned 32 rows each across 2 pages. These are sample measurements, not a speed/coverage guarantee; billing acceptance verifies duplicates, free occurrence rows and graceful maximum-charge limits. Search depends on Amazon's current ranking and availability. The Actor never launches a third-party Actor and does not solve interactive CAPTCHAs.

### Support

Open an issue on this Actor with the run ID, mode, ASIN/query and expected result. Do not include API tokens. For integrations, pin a tested build and use your own Apify API token in the Authorization header.

## `products` (type: `array`):

Amazon.com ASINs or product URLs.

## `queries` (type: `array`):

Search phrases. Used by search_only or query-driven products mode.
