## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Blender Extensions Scraper

Export the **entire official [Blender Extensions platform](https://extensions.blender.org/)** (about 1,400 add-ons and themes) as clean, structured data: name, id, type, version, tagline, **download count, star rating and review count**, maintainer and author/team, tags, **supported Blender version range**, license, platforms, required permissions, thumbnail and direct download URLs.

There is no other Blender Extensions scraper on Apify Store. If you sell or build Blender add-ons, run a 3D studio, research the open-source 3D ecosystem, or curate tools for Blender 4.2+ and 5.x, this Actor gives you the whole catalog in under a minute.

### What can it do?

- **Full catalog export.** Every add-on and theme from the official JSON API that Blender itself uses to browse and install extensions.
- **Downloads, ratings and reviews.** Merged in from the public listing pages, so you can rank extensions by real adoption.
- **Keyword search.** Matches id, name, tagline, maintainer, author and tags (for example `uv`, `retopology`, `rigging`, `dark`).
- **Blender version targeting.** `4.2` returns every extension compatible with Blender 4.2; `5.0` targets Blender 5; `any` returns everything.
- **Type, platform and tag filters.** Add-ons vs. themes, Windows / Linux / macOS builds, and any tag (Mesh, Modeling, Rigging, Animation, Node, UV, Render, Import-Export...).
- **Per-platform builds merged.** Extensions shipped as separate Windows, macOS and Linux archives are returned as one record with a `builds` list.
- **Fast and cheap.** Plain HTTP and JSON. No browser, no proxy, no login. Runs on 256 MB.

### Use cases

- Add-on developers tracking competing extensions, ratings and download growth
- Studios, schools and course creators curating Blender 4.2+ / 5.x-ready tools
- Ecosystem research: which categories, licenses and Blender versions dominate
- Lead lists of Blender add-on maintainers and teams
- Scheduled snapshots to detect newly published, updated or trending extensions

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `searchQuery` | string | Optional keyword. Empty = whole catalog. |
| `extensionType` | `any` / `add-on` / `theme` | Add-ons or interface themes. |
| `blenderVersion` | string | e.g. `4.2`, `4.5`, `5.0`, or `any`. |
| `platform` | string | `any`, `windows-x64`, `windows-arm64`, `linux-x64`, `macos-arm64`, `macos-x64`. |
| `tags` | array | Keep extensions with at least one of these tags. |
| `includeStats` | boolean | Merge downloads, rating, review count, author and thumbnail (about 90 light page requests, ~45 s). |
| `minDownloads` | integer | Skip extensions below this download count. |
| `sortBy` | `downloads` / `rating` / `reviews` / `name` / `default` | Result order. |
| `maxItems` | integer | Max results (default 100; set 5000 for the full catalog). |

Example: the 50 most downloaded Blender 4.2-compatible modeling add-ons:

```json
{ "extensionType": "add-on", "blenderVersion": "4.2", "tags": ["Modeling", "Mesh"], "sortBy": "downloads", "maxItems": 50 }
```

Tip: with `includeStats: false` a full-catalog run takes about 3 seconds (no downloads/ratings). With stats on, allow about 45-60 seconds.

Free to use right now: you pay only the tiny Apify platform usage of your own run. Pay-per-result pricing may be added later, with advance notice as Apify requires.

### FAQ

**Is it legal?** The Actor reads only public, unauthenticated data: the official [Blender Extensions API](https://extensions.blender.org/api/v1/extensions/) that Blender uses to install extensions, plus the public listing pages for download and rating counts. It respects robots.txt, requests pages politely with limited concurrency, and collects only the public maintainer and author names shown on the site.

**How fresh is the data?** Fetched live on every run. Download counts and ratings are as shown on extensions.blender.org at run time.

**Why do some records have no thumbnail?** Extensions without an uploaded preview image show a generic icon on the site; `thumbnailUrl` is `null` for those.

**Something broken or a field missing?** Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):

Case-insensitive keyword matched against extension id, name, tagline, maintainer, author and tags (e.g. uv, retopology, rigging, dark). Leave empty for the whole catalog.

## `extensionType` (type: `string`):

Add-ons extend Blender's functionality; themes restyle the interface.

## `blenderVersion` (type: `string`):

Only extensions compatible with this Blender version, e.g. 4.2, 4.5 or 5.0. Use 'any' for every version.

## `platform` (type: `string`):

Only extensions that run on this platform (platform-independent extensions are always included).

## `tags` (type: `array`):

## `includeStats` (type: `boolean`):

Merge download count, star rating, review count, author/team and thumbnail from the public listing pages (about 90 extra lightweight requests per run, ~45 s).

## `minDownloads` (type: `integer`):

Skip extensions below this download count.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Order of results.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum extensions to output. Set 5000 for the full catalog.
