## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Godot Asset Library Scraper

Export the **entire official [Godot Engine Asset Library](https://godotengine.org/asset-library/asset)** (about 5,400 addons, shaders, tools, templates, demos and projects) as clean, structured data: title, author, category, **compatible Godot version**, license, support level, version, last update, **repository, issues and download URLs**, commit, full description and preview images.

There is no other Godot Asset Library scraper on Apify Store. If you build Godot plugins, run a game studio, research the open-source game-dev ecosystem, or curate tools for Godot 4, this Actor gives you the whole library in seconds.

### What can it do?

- **Full library export.** Every asset from the official, documented Asset Library API, paginated automatically (500 per page).
- **Keyword search.** Free-text search over titles and descriptions (for example `dialogue`, `shader`, `multiplayer`, `inventory`).
- **Godot version targeting.** `4.4` returns every asset compatible with Godot 4.0 to 4.4; `3.5` targets Godot 3; `any` returns everything.
- **Type and category filters.** Addons vs. projects, and any of the 10 official categories (2D Tools, 3D Tools, Shaders, Materials, Tools, Scripts, Misc, Templates, Projects, Demos).
- **Support level filter.** Official, featured, community and testing assets.
- **Full details (optional).** Description, repository and issues links, download URL and commit, preview images and videos.
- **Fast and cheap.** Plain JSON over HTTP. No browser, no proxy, no login. Runs on 256 MB.

### Use cases

- Plugin authors tracking competing addons and release cadence
- Game studios and educators curating Godot 4-ready tools
- Ecosystem research: which categories, licenses and Godot versions dominate
- Lead lists of open-source game-dev maintainers and their repositories
- Scheduled snapshots to detect newly published or updated assets

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `searchQuery` | string | Optional keyword. Empty = whole library. |
| `assetType` | `any` / `addon` / `project` | Addons (plugins, scripts, shaders) or projects (templates, demos, games). |
| `category` | string | Optional category id (`1` 2D Tools ... `10` Demos). |
| `godotVersion` | string | e.g. `4.4`, `3.5`, or `any`. |
| `supportLevels` | array | Any of `official`, `featured`, `community`, `testing`. |
| `sortBy` | `updated` / `name` / `rating` / `cost` | Result order. |
| `includeDetails` | boolean | Fetch description, repo, download URL and previews (one extra request per asset). |
| `maxItems` | integer | Max results (default 100; set 10000 for the full library). |

Example: Godot 4.4-compatible dialogue addons, most recently updated first:

```json
{ "searchQuery": "dialogue", "assetType": "addon", "godotVersion": "4.4", "sortBy": "updated", "maxItems": 100 }
```

Tip: a full-library run with `includeDetails: false` takes about 15 seconds. With details on, allow roughly 10-15 minutes for all ~5,400 assets (raise the run timeout above the default 600 s).

Free to use right now: you pay only the tiny Apify platform usage of your own run. Pay-per-result pricing may be added later, with advance notice as Apify requires.

### FAQ

**Is it legal?** The Actor reads only the public, unauthenticated, [documented Asset Library API](https://github.com/godotengine/godot-asset-library/blob/master/API.md) that the Godot editor itself uses to browse assets. It requests pages politely with limited concurrency and collects only the public author handles shown on the site.

**How fresh is the data?** Fetched live on every run. `updatedAt` is the asset's last modification time in the Asset Library.

**Something broken or a field missing?** Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab.
