## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Neovim Plugins Scraper (store.nvim, neovimcraft, awesome-neovim)

Export **7,000+ Neovim plugins** as clean, structured data by merging three public, login-free catalogs:

1. **[store.nvim](https://github.com/alex-popov-tech/store.nvim)** crawler DB (~7k plugins, GitHub stars plus weekly/monthly star growth, tags, vimdoc flag, optional **lazy.nvim** install spec)
2. **[neovimcraft.com](https://neovimcraft.com)** public `db.json` (forks, watchers, homepage, branch)
3. **[awesome-neovim](https://github.com/rockerBOO/awesome-neovim)** curated README (category / subcategory)

Plugins are de-duplicated by `owner/repo`. Fields from every selected source are combined. Dotfyle is linked when the host is GitHub, but **not** scraped (its robots.txt disallows `/api/` and `/trpc/`).

There is effectively no dedicated Neovim multi-source catalog scraper on Apify Store. If you maintain a Neovim distribution, curate plugin lists, research the Lua plugin ecosystem, or track trending tools (LSP, Telescope, colorschemes, AI), this Actor gives you a merged directory in seconds.

### What can it do?

- **Merged catalog export.** ~7,000+ unique plugins after de-duplication across the three sources.
- **Keyword search.** Match against name, owner/repo, description, tags and awesome-neovim category (e.g. `lsp`, `telescope`, `git`, `colorscheme`, `ai`).
- **Tag / category filter.** Keep plugins that have any of the given tags or categories.
- **Popularity and freshness filters.** Minimum GitHub stars; optionally only plugins updated in the last N days.
- **Flexible sort.** Stars, weekly/monthly star growth, recently updated, newest, or name.
- **Source selection.** Pick any subset of store.nvim / neovimcraft / awesome-neovim.
- **Curated-only mode.** Restrict to plugins listed in awesome-neovim or neovimcraft.
- **lazy.nvim specs.** Optional ready-to-paste install specs from store.nvim.
- **Fast and cheap.** Plain JSON / Markdown over HTTP. No browser, no proxy, no login. Runs on 256 MB.

### Use cases

- Neovim distribution and starter-config authors tracking popular plugins and trends
- Ecosystem research: which categories and tags dominate, weekly star movers
- Lead lists of plugin maintainers and their GitHub repos
- Scheduled snapshots to detect newly popular or updated plugins
- Building internal plugin pickers with lazy.nvim install snippets

### Sources and politeness

- store.nvim crawler release assets (MIT): `db_minified.json`, `lazy_db_minified.json` (refreshed hourly upstream)
- neovimcraft: `https://neovimcraft.com/db.json` (robots.txt allows `/`)
- awesome-neovim: raw GitHub README
- Identifying User-Agent, retries with backoff, single request per source (not a crawler loop)
- Auth: none. Do not scrape authenticated endpoints. Dotfyle API is intentionally skipped.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `searchQuery` | string | Optional keyword. Empty = full merged catalog. |
| `tags` | string\[] | Keep plugins with ANY of these tags/categories. |
| `minStars` | integer | Skip plugins below this star count. |
| `updatedWithinDays` | integer | Only plugins updated in the last N days (`0` = off). |
| `sortBy` | enum | `stars` (default), `starsWeekly`, `starsMonthly`, `updated`, `created`, `name`. |
| `sources` | string\[] | Any of `store.nvim`, `neovimcraft`, `awesome-neovim`. |
| `onlyCurated` | boolean | Keep only awesome-neovim / neovimcraft listings. |
| `includeLazySpec` | boolean | Attach lazy.nvim install spec when available (default true). |
| `maxItems` | integer | Max results (default 100; set ~10000 for the full catalog). |

Example: top LSP-related plugins by stars:

```json
{ "searchQuery": "lsp", "sortBy": "stars", "maxItems": 50 }
```

Tip: a 100-item run finishes in a few seconds (three HTTP fetches + merge). A full-catalog run is similarly fast because sources are bulk JSON, not paginated HTML.

Export to JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or HTML, or pull results through the Apify API, webhooks, Make, Zapier or n8n.

### Pricing

Free to use right now: you pay only the tiny Apify platform usage of your own run. Pay-per-result pricing may be added later (~$2 per 1,000 plugin results), with advance notice as Apify requires. Monetization is **not** enabled on the Store listing yet.

### FAQ

**Is it legal?** The Actor reads only public, unauthenticated catalogs (GitHub release assets, neovimcraft JSON, awesome-neovim README). Dotfyle’s disallowed API paths are not fetched.

**How fresh is the data?** Fetched live on every run. store.nvim’s upstream crawler refreshes about hourly; neovimcraft and awesome-neovim reflect whatever those projects publish.

**Something broken or a field missing?** Open an issue on the Actor’s Issues tab.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):

Case-insensitive match against plugin name, owner/repo, description, tags and category (e.g. lsp, telescope, git, colorscheme, ai). Leave empty for the full catalog.

## `tags` (type: `array`):

Keep plugins having ANY of these tags or awesome-neovim categories (e.g. colorscheme, lsp, git, fuzzy-finder, ai). Case-insensitive; spaces and hyphens are equivalent.

## `minStars` (type: `integer`):

Skip plugins below this star count.

## `updatedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Only keep plugins whose repository was updated in the last N days. 0 = no filter.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Order of the output.

## `sources` (type: `array`):

Which public catalogs to merge. Plugins are de-duplicated by owner/repo; fields from every selected source are combined.

## `onlyCurated` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only plugins listed in the hand-curated awesome-neovim or neovimcraft catalogs.

## `includeLazySpec` (type: `boolean`):

Add a ready-to-paste lazy.nvim plugin spec (from store.nvim) to each row.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum plugins to output. Set 10000 for the full merged catalog (~7,000+).
