## Pricing

from $0.70 / 1,000 feed items

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## RSS Feed Reader: RSS & Atom to JSON, Bulk, $1/1K

This RSS feed reader turns any list of RSS and Atom feeds into clean rows, one per item, with title, link, publication date, summary, categories, image and attached file. It is an RSS to JSON converter that also exports CSV or Excel, so you can follow news sites, blogs, podcasts, release notes and job feeds from one place.

**Cost:** $0.001 per item ($1 per 1,000). Feeds that cannot be read, addresses that are not feeds, and invalid entries are free. No login or API key.

### How to convert RSS feeds to JSON

1. Paste feed addresses into **Feed URLs**, one per line.
2. Set **Items per feed** and, if you want, **Published since** (a date or a period such as 7 days).
3. Turn on **Include full content** if you need the whole text of each item.
4. Click **Start**, then open the **Feed items** table or download the rows.

It reads RSS 2.0, RSS 1.0 and Atom, with dates normalized to ISO 8601, HTML stripped from summaries, and relative links made absolute. Items come newest first. The form opens with NASA's news feed and the GOV.UK news feed, 5 items each, and costs about one cent. Use it for news and content monitoring on a schedule, to feed Make, Zapier, n8n or a Slack channel through the Apify API, or to collect titles, links and summaries as JSON for an AI agent or an index.

### How much does the RSS feed reader cost?

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Feed item (`feed-item`) | $0.001 ($1 per 1,000) |
| Feed that cannot be read, not a feed, or invalid address | Free |

Apify adds only its small standard fee per run start. You can set a spending limit on any run, and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

Example: you follow 40 feeds daily and get 25 new items from each, so 1,000 items a day cost $1.00, about $30 a month.

### Input

```json
{
  "feedUrls": [
    "https://www.nasa.gov/news-release/feed/",
    "https://www.gov.uk/search/news-and-communications.atom"
  ],
  "maxItemsPerFeed": 5
}
```

### Output

One row per result:

```json
{
  "feedUrl": "https://www.nasa.gov/news-release/feed/",
  "feedTitle": "NASA",
  "title": "Uncovering the Valleys Hidden Below Greenland's Ice",
  "url": "https://science.nasa.gov/earth/earth-observatory/uncovering-the-valleys-hidden-below-greenlands-ice/",
  "publishedAt": "2026-09-28T04:00:00.000Z",
  "summary": "Greenland is capped with a vast ice sheet ...",
  "categories": [
    "Earth"
  ],
  "status": "ok",
  "charged": true
}
```

`status` is `ok` for items, which are charged. A feed that cannot be read gives one free row with `feed_error`, `not_a_feed`, `robots_disallowed` or `not_found` and the reason in `error`. A STATS record in the key-value store counts items, free rows and requests.

### FAQ

**Which feed formats work?** RSS 2.0, RSS 1.0 (RDF) and Atom 1.0, also served gzipped.

**Does it respect robots.txt?** Yes. It reads each site's robots.txt and skips feeds the site does not allow for the token DonMangu-RSSReader or for all crawlers. Those rows are free.

**Can I get only new items on a schedule?** Set **Published since** to a period such as 24 hours and schedule the Actor daily.

**Does it include author names?** No. Items are returned without author names or emails.
