## Pricing

from $0.50 / 1,000 review results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Google Maps Reviews Scraper

![Google Maps Reviews Scraper](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/coregentdevspace/google-maps-reviews-scraper-assets/main/thumbnail-google-maps-reviews-scraper.png "Google Maps Reviews Scraper")

**Reviews, Ratings, Reviewers, Replies & Photos**

Scrape public Google Maps reviews for any place or business. Extract ratings, full review text, exact publish dates, reviewer details, photos, owner replies and place context. Sort, filter, collect only recent reviews, and export clean JSON, CSV or Excel.

No Google API key, no Google login and no cookies needed.

### ✨ What you get

One row per review:

- ⭐ **Rating** and **full review text**
- 🕒 **Exact publish timestamp** (`publishedAt`, ISO 8601) plus Google's **relative date** ("3 months ago")
- 🌐 **Original text and Google's translation kept separate** (`text`, `translatedText`, `language`)
- 👤 **Reviewer**: name, profile URL, reviewer ID, avatar, review count, photo count, **Local Guide** status
- 📷 **Review photos** (URLs only — no binaries stored)
- 💬 **Owner response** text with its own exact date
- 📍 **Place context**: Place ID, CID, feature ID, name, rating, total review count and Google Maps URL
- 🧾 Free **place summary rows** with a status and coverage label for every place you asked for

### 📥 Supported place inputs

| Input | Example |
|---|---|
| Google Maps place URL | `https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sydney+Opera+House/@-33.85,151.21,17z/data=!…` |
| Short share link | `https://maps.app.goo.gl/…` |
| Place ID | `ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4` |
| CID | `3545450935484072529` |
| Feature ID | `0x6b12ae665e892fdd:0x3133f8d75a1ac251` |
| Business name | `Sydney Opera House` (+ optional Location) |
| Search term + location | `dentist` in `Canberra, ACT, Australia` |

Mix as many as you like. Equivalent targets (the same place given as a URL and a Place ID, or found by two searches) are scraped once.

If a business name matches several places (e.g. a chain), that input returns **`AMBIGUOUS_PLACE`** with the candidates listed instead of a guess. Use a Maps URL or Place ID for those.

### ⚙️ Input examples

#### Minimal

```json
{
    "startUrls": [{ "url": "https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJ3S-JXmauEmsRUcIaWtf4MzE" }],
    "maxReviewsPerPlace": 100
}
```

#### Negative reviews

```json
{
    "placeIds": ["ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4"],
    "maxReviewsPerPlace": 1000,
    "sort": "LOWEST_RATING",
    "starRatings": ["1", "2"],
    "onlyWithText": true
}
```

#### Recent reviews (monitoring)

```json
{
    "startUrls": [{ "url": "https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJ3S-JXmauEmsRUcIaWtf4MzE" }],
    "maxReviewsPerPlace": 500,
    "sort": "NEWEST",
    "reviewsNewerThan": "30 days"
}
```

#### Search discovery

```json
{
    "searchTerms": ["dentist"],
    "location": "Canberra, ACT, Australia",
    "maxPlacesPerSearch": 10,
    "maxReviewsPerPlace": 100,
    "sort": "NEWEST"
}
```

#### Main options

| Field | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| `maxReviewsPerPlace` | `100` | Reviews retrieved per place, before filters (1–4,490). |
| `sort` | `MOST_RELEVANT` | Google's native order: `MOST_RELEVANT`, `NEWEST`, `HIGHEST_RATING`, `LOWEST_RATING`. |
| `starRatings` | all | Keep only these stars, e.g. `["1","2"]`. With `LOWEST_RATING` (low stars) or `HIGHEST_RATING` (high stars), the run stops once later reviews can no longer match. |
| `reviewsNewerThan` / `reviewsOlderThan` | — | `"24 hours"`, `"7 days"`, `"6 months"` or `"2026-09-01"`. With `NEWEST`, pagination stops once the date boundary is passed. |
| `onlyWithText` / `onlyWithOwnerReply` / `onlyWithPhotos` | `false` | Content filters. |
| `keyword` | — | Case-insensitive substring match on review text (original or translated). |
| `language` | `en` | Interface / translation language. |
| `includePlaceDetails` | `true` | Attach the `place` object (IDs, name, rating, review count, Maps URL) to each row. |
| `includeTranslations` | `true` | Fill `translatedText` when Google provides a translation. |
| `emitPlaceSummaries` | `true` | Add one free `place_summary` row per place. |

```
An owner reply looks like:
```json
"ownerResponse": {
    "text": "Hi Tony, thank you for your feedback. …",
    "publishedAt": "2026-05-14T09:02:11.000Z",
    "relativeDate": "5 months ago"
}
```
Unavailable fields are always `null` (never invented). `address`, `category`, `phone` and `website` in `place` are usually `null`; use a Google Maps places scraper if you need full business details.
#### Place summary row (Places tab, free)
```json
{
    "rowType": "place_summary",
    "input": "https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJ3S-JXmauEmsRUcIaWtf4MzE",
    "placeId": "ChIJ3S-JXmauEmsRUcIaWtf4MzE",
    "cid": "3545450935484072529",
    "featureId": "0x6b12ae665e892fdd:0x3133f8d75a1ac251",
    "placeName": "Sydney Opera House",
    "googleMapsUrl": "https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJ3S-JXmauEmsRUcIaWtf4MzE&hl=en",
    "status": "SUCCESS",
    "coverageStatus": "LIMIT_REACHED",
    "reviewsScanned": 100,
    "reviewsReturned": 100,
    "reviewsFilteredOut": 0,
    "placeReviewsCount": 93298,
    "error": null,
    "scrapedAt": "2026-10-11T06:20:28.304Z"
}
```
#### Error example
```json
{
    "rowType": "place_summary",
    "input": "Starbucks",
    "status": "AMBIGUOUS_PLACE",
    "coverageStatus": "PLACE_NOT_FOUND",
    "reviewsReturned": 0,
    "error": "\"Starbucks\" matched 10 places (e.g. Starbucks George Street; Starbucks York Street; Starbucks QVB). Use a Maps URL or Place ID instead."
}
```
**Statuses:** `SUCCESS`, `NO_REVIEWS`, `INVALID_PLACE`, `PLACE_NOT_FOUND`, `AMBIGUOUS_PLACE`, `RATE_LIMITED`, `BLOCKED`, `PARTIAL_RESULT`, `TEMPORARY_GOOGLE_ERROR`, `PROVIDER_ERROR`.
**Coverage:** `FULL_AVAILABLE_SET`, `PARTIAL_PUBLIC`, `LIMIT_REACHED`, `NO_REVIEWS`, `PLACE_NOT_FOUND`, `BLOCKED`, `PROVIDER_ERROR`.
One failed place never fails the whole run. Retryable failures are also saved to the `RETRY_INPUT` record in the key-value store, so you can paste them straight into a new run. Run totals (places, reviews, filtered, duplicates, text / owner-reply / photo / Local Guide / translation rates, runtime) are in `RUN_SUMMARY`.
The dataset has two views: **Reviews** and **Places**.
### ❓ FAQ
**Do I need a Google API key?** No. No API key, login, cookies or browser extension.
**Can I scrape all reviews? Why might Google's review count be higher than what I get?** You get the reviews Google publicly lists for the place, up to your `maxReviewsPerPlace`. Google's headline count can be higher than the retrievable list: it filters spam, withholds some reviews, and counts reviews that were later deleted. If a place's reviews can't be fully retrieved, the place summary says `PARTIAL_PUBLIC` / `PARTIAL_RESULT` instead of pretending the list was complete, and re-running from `RETRY_INPUT` usually recovers the rest.
**How many reviews per place?** Up to 4,490 per place per run. The place summary's `coverageStatus` tells you whether you hit your limit (`LIMIT_REACHED`) or got everything available (`FULL_AVAILABLE_SET`).
**Are exact timestamps included?** Yes — `publishedAt` (ISO 8601) alongside Google's relative date. In the rare case an exact time isn't available, `publishedAt` is `null` and `relativeDate` is still filled. Exact times are never made up from relative text.
**Are owner replies included?** Yes — `ownerResponse.text` with its own `publishedAt` and `relativeDate`.
**Are helpful votes (likes) included?** Not reliably. `likesCount` is in the schema but is usually `null`.
**Are reviewer profiles included?** Yes, the public fields: name, profile URL, reviewer ID, avatar, review count, photo count, Local Guide flag. Reviewers are not enriched from outside Google.
**Are photos included?** Yes, as URLs in `photos[]`. Use `onlyWithPhotos` to keep only reviews with photos.
**Are translations included?** Yes. `text` is always the original wording; `translatedText` is Google's translation into your `language` when one exists.
**Can I filter by rating or date?** Yes — `starRatings`, `reviewsNewerThan`, `reviewsOlderThan`. Combine date filters with `sort: NEWEST`, and star filters with `LOWEST_RATING` / `HIGHEST_RATING`, so runs stop early instead of reading reviews that can't match. Date filters on relative-only dates are applied with one unit of tolerance, so borderline reviews are kept rather than wrongly dropped.
**Can I search by business type and city?** Yes — `searchTerms` + `location`, with `maxPlacesPerSearch`.
**Can I get only new reviews?** Use `sort: NEWEST` with `reviewsNewerThan` (e.g. `"24 hours"` or `"7 days"`) on a schedule. Stateful "only reviews I haven't seen" monitoring is planned for a later version.
**Can I schedule monitoring?** Yes — create an Apify Schedule with the "Recent reviews" input above and connect a webhook, Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets integration.
**Can I use it via API / MCP?** Yes. Call it from the Apify API, the JavaScript/Python clients, or any MCP-capable AI agent via the Apify MCP server.
### 💰 Pricing
Pay per result: you are charged **once per unique review delivered** to the dataset. You are **not** charged for:
- filtered-out reviews,
- duplicates,
- failed or ambiguous places,
- `place_summary` rows.
See the **Pricing** tab on this Actor's page for current rates. This README deliberately doesn't quote figures, because live prices are set in the Apify Console. Per-run spending limits you set on Apify are respected: the run stops cleanly when the limit is reached.
#### 🚦 Proxy policy
Use **Apify Datacenter** proxy (the default) or **no proxy** — both work for Google Maps at this Actor's conservative concurrency.
**Apify Residential proxy is not supported.** The Actor fails at startup if `apifyProxyGroups` includes `RESIDENTIAL`. Reason: in pay-per-event Actors, residential bandwidth is billed to the developer, not the run user, so a single bandwidth-heavy run could exceed the per-review revenue.
If you genuinely need residential routing, supply your own residential provider via the proxy editor's **Custom proxy URLs** field. That traffic goes through your provider, not Apify, so this block doesn't apply to it:
```
http://user:pass@proxy.iproyal.com:12321
http://user:pass@proxy.brightdata.com:22225
http://user:pass@proxy.oxylabs.io:7777
```
### 🔗 Works well with
The review rows feed straight into review-analysis, sentiment, reputation-monitoring and competitor-benchmark workflows — including Coregent's other Google Maps Actors (business discovery → this Actor → review analysis).
### ⚖️ Compliance and privacy
- This is an unofficial tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google.
- It processes **public** Google Maps review data only.
- Reviewer profiles can contain personal information. You are responsible for lawful processing of what you collect (e.g. GDPR / CCPA) and for respecting Google's terms.
- Reviews may later be edited or deleted, and Google may spam-filter or withhold some reviews.
- The Actor does not post reviews, reply to reviews, collect credentials or infer hidden identities or sensitive attributes.
### 🛠️ Limitations
- Up to 4,490 reviews per place per run.
- Helpful-vote counts (`likesCount`) and the place's address, category, phone and website are usually `null`.
- Places whose reviews can't be fully retrieved are labelled `PARTIAL_PUBLIC` rather than silently truncated.
- Very selective filters on an unmatched sort (e.g. a rare keyword with `MOST_RELEVANT`) can stop a run early: once a run has filtered out more than 2,000 reviews plus 10 for every review delivered, it stops reading more. Affected places say so in their summary row. Matching the sort to the filter avoids this.
- If Google can't apply a requested sort natively, the place summary says so and Google's default order is used. Results are never re-sorted locally and labelled as Google's order.
# Actor input Schema
## `startUrls` (type: `array`):
Google Maps place URLs or short share links (maps.app.goo.gl/…). One place per URL. The sample place is ignored automatically when you fill any other place input.
## `placeIds` (type: `array`):
Google Place IDs, e.g. ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4.
## `cids` (type: `array`):
Google Maps CIDs (customer IDs) — digits only, e.g. 10281119596374313554.
## `featureIds` (type: `array`):
Google Maps feature IDs in 0x…:0x… form, e.g. 0x6b12ae665e892fdd:0x3133f8d75a1ac251.
## `businessNames` (type: `array`):
Business names to look up on Google Maps (combined with Location when set). If a name matches several places, that input returns an AMBIGUOUS_PLACE status instead of guessing.
## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):
Discover places by business type, e.g. dentist, plumber, cafe. Requires Location.
## `location` (type: `string`):
Required with Search terms; also narrows Business names. Example: Canberra, ACT, Australia.
## `maxPlacesPerSearch` (type: `integer`):
How many places to take from each search term's results.
## `maxReviewsPerPlace` (type: `integer`):
Maximum reviews retrieved per place (before filters), up to 4,490. Common values: 20, 100, 500, 1000, 4490.
## `sort` (type: `string`):
Native Google Maps review order. NEWEST lets date filters stop early.
## `language` (type: `string`):
Interface / translation language code, e.g. en, de, fr. Original review text is always kept in `text`; Google's translation goes to `translatedText`.
## `starRatings` (type: `array`):
Keep only reviews with these star ratings. Leave empty for all.
## `reviewsNewerThan` (type: `string`):
Relative ("24 hours", "7 days", "30 days", "6 months") or absolute date ("2026-09-01"). Empty = no limit.
## `reviewsOlderThan` (type: `string`):
Same format as "Reviews newer than". Empty = no limit.
## `onlyWithText` (type: `boolean`):
Skip star-only reviews.
## `keyword` (type: `string`):
Keep only reviews containing this text (case-insensitive; matches original or translated text).
## `onlyWithOwnerReply` (type: `boolean`):
Keep only reviews the business owner responded to.
## `onlyWithPhotos` (type: `boolean`):
Keep only reviews that include photos or videos.
## `includePlaceDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Attach the place object (Place ID, CID, feature ID, name, rating, review count, Google Maps URL) to every review row.
## `includeTranslations` (type: `boolean`):
Fill `translatedText` when Google provides a translation of a foreign-language review.
## `emitPlaceSummaries` (type: `boolean`):
Add one free place_summary row per place with its status, coverage and counts (also used to report failed places). Never charged.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Apify Proxy configuration. Defaults to Apify Datacenter (useApifyProxy: true). Apify Residential is NOT supported and fails the run at startup; for residential routing supply your own provider via Custom proxy URLs (proxyConfiguration.proxyUrls).
