## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## FFME Climbing Clubs · French Directory

Export **French climbing and mountain club contacts** from the public FFME (Fédération française de la montagne et de l’escalade) directory. Pick a department (or nationwide) and get one row per club: name, address, published email, GPS, website and club page.

**No login. No API key. No federation account.**

### Who is this for?

| You are… | Typical goal | Suggested setup |
|----------|--------------|-----------------|
| Outdoor / climbing brand | Prospect list of FFME clubs | One department first, then **All departments** |
| Gym, wall or event organiser | Clubs that can host or relay a session | Your département + neighbouring codes |
| Agency / outbound | CRM feed with email and website | Overview or Outreach CRM view |
| Local authority / school sport | Territory map of climbing clubs | One code, then neighbours |
| Data / ops | Scheduled master table of the federation | `departments: ["ALL"]`, `maxItems: 0` |

**What you get by default.** Club name, department, address, GPS and public club page. Email is the mailbox published on the club sheet. Federation HQ inboxes (`contact@ffme.fr`, `*@ffme.fr`) are omitted. Website follows what the club published — including Facebook when that is the URL on the sheet. This Actor never invents a mailbox. Phone is included when the club lists one (many sheets do not).

**When to go nationwide.** Use **All departments** on a paid plan with `maxItems: 0`. Corsica (2A / 2B) and overseas departments (including Réunion 974) are included. Alsace (67 / 68) uses standard department codes.

### How to use

1. Open the Actor in [Apify Console](https://console.apify.com).
2. Pick one or more **departments**, or **All departments**.
3. Keep **Max clubs** at 20 for a first run (Free plan is always 20 per run). Set **0** on a paid plan for a full export of the selection.
4. Click **Start**. Rows appear in the Dataset as club pages are opened.

### Ready-made examples (published tasks)

| Example | Best for |
|---------|----------|
| [Find Paris climbing clubs with published contacts](https://apify.com/corent1robert/ffme-clubs-scraper/examples/paris-climbing-club-contacts) | First run / Île-de-France |
| [Rhône climbing clubs, CRM-ready emails and websites](https://apify.com/corent1robert/ffme-clubs-scraper/examples/rhone-climbing-clubs-crm) | CRM import |
| [La Réunion FFME club directory](https://apify.com/corent1robert/ffme-clubs-scraper/examples/reunion-ffme-clubs) | Overseas department |
| [Find Ain climbing clubs from the FFME directory](https://apify.com/corent1robert/ffme-clubs-scraper/examples/ain-climbing-club-contacts) | B2B test / Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes |

### What it extracts

| Category | Fields |
|----------|--------|
| Identity | Club name, map club id, affiliation number, structure type |
| Location | Department, town, postcode, address, GPS |
| Contact | Published email (HQ federation mailboxes skipped) |
| Web | Club website (including Facebook when that is the URL on the club sheet) |
| Page | Link to the public FFME club page |

### Typical coverage

On a sample of public club sheets, most **Club** and **affiliated establishment** rows have a published mailbox. Website is present when the club listed one. Phone is uncommon on the public sheet. Regional committees and leagues are not exported.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Notes |
|-------|------|---------|--------|
| `departments` | array | `["75"]` | Department codes, or `ALL` for nationwide including Corsica. Omitted = Paris. Empty array = nationwide. |
| `maxItems` | integer | `20` | **0** = no row ceiling. **Free plan: 20 / run.** |

#### API-only keys

Not shown on the Console form. Safe defaults are already in code.

| Key | Type | Default | Notes |
|-----|------|---------|--------|
| `delayBetweenRequests` | integer | `80` | Pause between club pages (ms) |
| `verboseLogs` | boolean | `false` | Extra diagnostics in the run log |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | platform default | Optional; cloud runs can use Apify Proxy |

#### Examples

Paris (Try):

```json
{ "departments": ["75"], "maxItems": 20 }
```

Nationwide, paid plan, no row ceiling:

```json
{ "departments": ["ALL"], "maxItems": 0 }
```

### Output sample

```json
{
  "clubId": "3088",
  "affiliationNumber": "075127",
  "structureName": "17E DEGRE",
  "structureType": "Club",
  "departmentNumber": "75",
  "town": "Paris",
  "postalCode": "75017",
  "address": "6 Rue Lacaille",
  "latitude": 48.893,
  "longitude": 2.32518,
  "contactEmail": "contact@17edegre.com",
  "website": "http://17edegre.com/",
  "url": "https://www.ffme.fr/club/3088/"
}
```

You can download the dataset as JSON, HTML, CSV or Excel.

### How to scrape FFME climbing clubs

This Actor reads the public [FFME structures map](https://www.ffme.fr/ffme/espace-structure/carte-structures/) (Trouver un club), then opens each matching club page for published contacts. You do not need a MyFFME account.

### How much does it cost to scrape FFME clubs?

HTTP-only — no browser. You pay **pay-per-event** on the Store: about **$0.00749 per exported club** plus a negligible run start.

| Scenario | Approx. cost (list / Free PPE) |
|----------|----------------|
| 20 clubs (Try / Free plan) | ~$0.15 |
| 1,000 clubs | ~$7.49 |
| Full selection with `maxItems: 0` | $0.00749 × clubs exported |

Include the one-time actor-start charge in run totals. Higher Apify subscription tiers may pay less per event when the Store listing uses tiered PPE.

### Is scraping FFME free?

Apify Free plan users get **20 clubs per run**. Paid plans follow PPE and your max charge. Compute is cheap because this Actor does not launch a browser.

### Is it legal to scrape FFME?

This Actor only accesses data that FFME makes publicly available in its club directory. As with any data containing personal information, ensure your use complies with GDPR and relevant regulations.

### Local development

```bash
cd ffme-clubs-scraper
npm install
apify run --input-file=./.actor/INPUT.json
```

`storage/key_value_stores/default/INPUT.json` must satisfy the input schema, or pass `--input-file`. On local `apify run`, platform/CLI input overwrites overlapping keys from a root `input.json`.

### Support

Contact <corentin@outreacher.fr> if you need a custom scraper or tailored automation.
