## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Booksy Scraper: Salons, Barbers, Services & Prices

**Booksy Scraper** exports salons, barbershops, nail studios, spas and other beauty and wellness businesses from [Booksy](https://booksy.com) as clean JSON, CSV or Excel. It reads the same public category and business pages that booksy.com shows, with no login and no API key:

- ✅ **Businesses by country, category and city**: US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Poland, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Portugal and France.
- ✅ **Contact and location**: name, street address, city, region, postal code, country, latitude/longitude, website, Facebook and Instagram.
- ✅ **Reputation**: average rating, review count and the number of reviews per star.
- ✅ **Full service menu**: every service with category, variant, price, displayed price, promotion price and duration in minutes.
- ✅ **Staff and hours**: bookable staff names and weekly opening hours.
- ✅ **Flags**: promoted, Booksy Recommended, Booksy Pay, gift cards, unclaimed listing.
- ✅ **Whole country or city**: without a category the actor walks Booksy's public sitemaps.
- ✅ Light and polite: plain HTTP, no browser, no proxy, respects robots.txt.

### Start in one minute

Click **Start** with the prefilled input:

```json
{
  "country": "us",
  "category": "barber-shop",
  "city": "new-york-city",
  "maxItems": 10
}
```

You get: the top 10 barbershops in New York City with `name`, `address`, `latitude`/`longitude`, `rating`, `reviewCount`, `services` (name, price, duration), `staff` and `openingHours`.

**Cost:** $0.03: 10 businesses × $0.003, plus the $0.00005 actor-start fee.

### Use with an AI assistant

Connect the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com) to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client (`https://mcp.apify.com?tools=cprussin/booksy-businesses` loads only this actor), then paste:

```text
Use the Apify actor cprussin/booksy-businesses to get 20 nail salons in Chicago (country us, category nail-salon, city chicago) and list name, address, rating and the price of a gel manicure.
```

### Recipes

#### Lead list without service menus (fastest)

List data only: 20 businesses per request.

```json
{
  "country": "gb",
  "category": "barbers",
  "city": "manchester",
  "includeServices": false,
  "maxItems": 500
}
```

#### Service prices in a city

```json
{
  "country": "pl",
  "category": "barber-shop",
  "city": "warszawa",
  "maxItems": 50
}
```

#### Every business in a city

No category: the actor walks Booksy's business sitemaps for the country and keeps the city.

```json
{
  "country": "ie",
  "city": "dublin",
  "maxItems": 200
}
```

#### Specific businesses or category pages

```json
{
  "businessUrls": [
    "https://booksy.com/en-us/395507_manhattan-barbershop-nyc_barber-shop_30067_new-york-city",
    "https://booksy.com/en-us/s/nail-salon/18279_palatine"
  ]
}
```

### Who uses Booksy data?

- **B2B sales teams**: build lead lists of salons and barbershops (software, supplies, payments, insurance) with address, website and rating.
- **Salon owners**: compare service prices, durations and ratings of competitors in your city.
- **Brands and distributors**: find the best-rated salons by category for partnerships.
- **Market researchers**: map beauty and grooming businesses and price levels across cities and countries.
- **AI agents**: give an LLM live salon and price data through the Apify API or MCP server.

### How does the Booksy scraper work?

1. With a category, the actor opens the category page (`booksy.com/en-us/s/barber-shop/30067_new-york-city`, 20 businesses per page, in Booksy's own ranking) and follows `?businessesPage=2`, `3`, ... A plain city slug is resolved to Booksy's city id from its public sitemaps.
2. With **Include services** on, it opens each business page for the full service menu, staff and opening hours.
3. Without a category, it reads the country's business sitemaps (`booksy.com/sitemap/sitemap_index.xml`) and opens each business page, optionally only in one city.
4. It reads the data embedded in each page (JSON-LD and the page's own state).

### How do I choose which Booksy businesses to scrape?

| Field              | Description                                                 | Example                                                    |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| `country`          | Booksy country                                              | `"us"`                                                     |
| `category`         | Category slug as in Booksy URLs (in the country's language) | `"nail-salon"`                                             |
| `city`             | City slug as in Booksy URLs, optionally with its id         | `"chicago"`, `"30067_new-york-city"`                       |
| `businessUrls`     | Business or category pages                                  | `["https://booksy.com/en-us/s/nail-salon/18279_palatine"]` |
| `includeServices` | Open each business page for services, staff and hours | `false` |
| `includeUnclaimed` | Also return unclaimed directory listings                    | `true`                                                     |
| `maxItems`         | Max businesses in total                                     | `1000`                                                     |

- Find the category and city slugs by opening a category on booksy.com and copying them from the URL: `booksy.com/en-us/s/`**`barber-shop`**`/`**`30067_new-york-city`**.
- Category slugs are localized: e.g. `salon-de-unas` (Spain), `barbearia` (Portugal), `barbers` (UK, Ireland).

### How much does it cost to scrape Booksy?

Pay-per-event, only for businesses written to your dataset:

| Event    | Price      |
| -------- | ---------- |
| Business | **$0.003** |

That's **$3 per 1,000 businesses**, with or without services. If you set a **maximum cost per run**, the actor stops cleanly when it reaches it.

### Booksy scraper FAQ

**Is this an official Booksy API?** No. It reads the public pages booksy.com shows to logged-out visitors, within its robots.txt (no search pages, no booking widgets, no API).

**Do I get phone numbers or emails?** No. Booksy doesn't publish them on its public pages; the actor returns the website and social links when the business lists them.

**Why does a city return businesses from nearby towns?** Booksy's city pages include businesses it files under the metro area. Filter on `city`, `postalCode` or the coordinates for exact matches.

**What are unclaimed listings?** Directory entries for businesses that don't use Booksy yet (no services, reviews or booking). They are skipped unless you turn on **Include unclaimed listings**.

**Personal data:** staff names are returned as the business publishes them for booking. Reviewer names are never returned. You are responsible for using the data lawfully (e.g. GDPR).

**Disclaimer:** This actor is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Booksy. Booksy is a trademark of its owner. You are responsible for complying with Booksy's terms and applicable laws when using the data.
