## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Check Domain Age, Expiry & SPF/DMARC in Bulk (RDAP Lookup)

**What it does:** checks a list of domains for age, expiry date, registrar, DNS and email security in one run, by Print & Plan UK. **You give it:** domain names or full URLs (thousands at once). **You get:** one row per domain with official RDAP registration and expiry dates, registrar and status, DNS records, the DNS and email provider, and an A–F email-security grade from SPF, DMARC, DKIM, MTA-STS and BIMI. No personal contact data is collected. **Cost per run:** $0.0015 per domain checked, so 1,000 domains cost $1.50; invalid domains and failed lookups are free. **Example inputs:** `apify.com`, `https://www.bbc.co.uk/news`, `nominet.uk`.

Use it for lead qualification, domain portfolio monitoring, expiry tracking, cold-email deliverability checks, vendor due diligence and security audits.

### Why this Actor?

- **Official RDAP, not scraped WHOIS**: structured JSON straight from the registries (Verisign, Nominet, PIR and others) through the IANA bootstrap. No proxies, no CAPTCHAs, no parsing guesswork.
- **Privacy by design**: registrant, admin and tech contact data is **never collected**. You get the domain facts and no personal data.
- **Email-security grade**: SPF qualifier and DNS-lookup count (flags the RFC 7208 limit of 10), DMARC policy, DKIM selector probe, MTA-STS, BIMI and null-MX detection.
- **Provider detection**: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho, Proofpoint and others for email. Cloudflare, Route 53, GoDaddy and others for DNS.
- **Cheap**: $1.50 per 1,000 domains. Invalid domains and failed lookups are free.

### Input example

```json
{
  "domains": ["apify.com", "https://www.bbc.co.uk/news", "github.com", "some-unregistered-domain-xyz-2026.com"],
  "includeDns": true,
  "includeEmailSecurity": true,
  "maxConcurrency": 10
}
```

URLs, `www.` prefixes and paths are normalised automatically. Duplicates are removed.

### Output example (apify.com, trimmed)

```json
{
  "domain": "apify.com",
  "rdapStatus": "found",
  "registrar": "Amazon Registrar, Inc.",
  "createdDate": "2009-06-02T17:14:10Z",
  "expiryDate": "2035-06-02T17:14:10Z",
  "domainAgeDays": 6335,
  "daysUntilExpiry": 3160,
  "dnssec": true,
  "likelyAvailable": false,
  "dnsProvider": "Amazon Route 53",
  "emailProvider": "Google Workspace",
  "dns": {"mx": ["1 aspmx.l.google.com", "5 alt1.aspmx.l.google.com"], "caa": ["0 issue \"amazonaws.com\""]},
  "emailSecurity": {
    "spf": {"present": true, "allQualifier": "-all", "directDnsLookups": 6},
    "dmarc": {"present": true, "policy": "reject", "pct": "100", "hasAggregateReporting": true},
    "dkimSelectorsFound": ["google"],
    "mtaSts": true,
    "bimi": true,
    "grade": "A"
  }
}
```

An unregistered domain returns `"rdapStatus": "not-found"` and `"likelyAvailable": true`.

### Pricing (pay per event)

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Domain checked | $0.0015 (= $1.50 per 1,000) |

Invalid inputs and lookups that fail after retries are **not charged**.

### FAQ

**Which TLDs are supported?** Every TLD with an RDAP server in the IANA bootstrap. That covers all gTLDs (.com, .net, .org, .io, .app and more) and most ccTLDs, including .uk. If a TLD has no RDAP service, the item says so and is not charged.

**Why no owner name or email?** By design. Since GDPR, most of that data is redacted anyway, and leaving it out keeps your dataset free of personal data.

**Is "likelyAvailable" a guarantee?** No. It means the registry's RDAP returned *not found*. Always confirm with a registrar before you buy.

**Can DKIM be detected for every domain?** DKIM can only be confirmed for known selectors. Add your own under `dkimSelectors`.

# Actor input Schema

## `domains` (type: `array`):

Domains or URLs to check (e.g. `example.com`, `https://www.bbc.co.uk/news`). Duplicates are removed.

## `includeDns` (type: `boolean`):

Resolve A, AAAA, MX, NS and CAA records and detect DNS and email providers.

## `includeEmailSecurity` (type: `boolean`):

Analyse SPF and DMARC, probe common DKIM selectors, check MTA-STS and BIMI, and give an A–F grade.

## `includeTxtRecords` (type: `boolean`):

Return all raw TXT records (verification tokens etc.). Off by default to keep output compact.

## `dkimSelectors` (type: `array`):

DKIM selectors checked at `<selector>._domainkey.<domain>`. DKIM can only be confirmed for known selectors.

## `dnsServers` (type: `array`):

IP addresses of DNS resolvers to use, e.g. `1.1.1.1`. Leave empty to use the system resolver.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Domains processed in parallel. RDAP servers rate-limit; 10 is a safe default.
