## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Check What CMS & Tech Stack Websites Use, in Bulk

**What it does:** tells you what each website in a list is built with, by Print & Plan UK. **You give it:** website URLs or bare domains. **You get:** one row per site listing its CMS or site builder, ecommerce platform (Shopify, WooCommerce and others), analytics, tag manager, ad pixels, cookie tool, live chat, payments, framework, server and CDN, each with a confidence score and the evidence that triggered it. **Cost per run:** $0.002 per site analysed, so 1,000 sites cost $2; blocked, failed or robots-disallowed sites are free. **Example inputs:** `https://www.allbirds.com`, `https://wordpress.org/news/`, `gov.uk`.

Good for sales prospecting ("every Shopify store in my list that has no live chat"), agency audits, competitor research and market sizing.

### Highlights

- **185+ technologies in 30+ categories**, including Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Next.js, Nuxt, GA4, GTM, Meta Pixel, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Intercom, OneTrust, Stripe, Klarna, Cloudflare, Vercel and Fastly.
- **Evidence for every detection**, e.g. `header powered-by: Shopify`, `meta generator: WordPress 6.6`. Easy to trust and easy to filter.
- **Lightweight and polite**: one page request per site plus robots.txt (honoured per RFC 9309). No headless browser, no proxies, no logins.
- **Versions** where the site exposes them (WordPress, Drupal, nginx, PHP, jQuery and others).
- **$2 per 1,000 sites**. Sites that block bots, fail or disallow crawling are **free**.

### Input example

```json
{
  "urls": ["https://www.allbirds.com", "https://wordpress.org/news/", "https://vercel.com", "gov.uk"],
  "includeEvidence": true,
  "maxConcurrency": 10
}
```

### Output example (trimmed)

```json
{
  "url": "https://www.allbirds.com/",
  "httpStatus": 200,
  "title": "Allbirds: Comfortable, Sustainable Shoes & Apparel",
  "technologyCount": 10,
  "technologyNames": ["Cloudflare", "OneTrust", "Shopify", "Swiper", "HTTP/3", "Open Graph", "Content Security Policy", "HSTS", "Microsoft Clarity", "Google Tag Manager"],
  "categories": {"Ecommerce": ["Shopify"], "CDN": ["Cloudflare"], "Cookie consent": ["OneTrust"], "Tag manager": ["Google Tag Manager"], "Session recording": ["Microsoft Clarity"]},
  "technologies": [
    {"name": "Shopify", "category": "Ecommerce", "confidence": 100, "version": null, "evidence": ["header powered-by: Shopify", "html: cdn.shopify.com"]},
    {"name": "Cloudflare", "category": "CDN", "confidence": 100, "version": null, "evidence": ["header server: cloudflare", "header cf-ray: …"]}
  ]
}
```

Confidence: **100** means a header, meta tag or cookie name matched (or two independent signals did). **75** means a single script or HTML signature. **50** means implied by another technology (e.g. WooCommerce implies WordPress) or a heuristic.

### Pricing (pay per event)

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Site analysed | $0.002 (= $2 per 1,000 sites) |

Not charged: invalid URLs, sites disallowed by robots.txt, HTTP 4xx/5xx responses (partial header-level detections are still returned) and network errors.

### FAQ

**Why didn't it detect X?** Only the first HTML response is analysed and JavaScript is not executed, so tools injected later by a tag manager may not appear. That keeps the Actor fast and cheap. Request a technology through the Issues tab.

**Some sites return 403?** Some sites block all automated traffic. We respect that and don't use proxies or browser disguises to get around it, and those sites cost you nothing.

**Are cookies stored?** Only cookie *names* are used for matching. Values are never read into the output.

Fingerprints are original work (not derived from Wappalyzer's GPL data).
