## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## YouTube Search Suggestions Scraper

Discover the phrases YouTube shows in its public search autocomplete. Enter one or more seed keywords and get clean, ranked suggestions that can be used for SEO research, video planning, audience research, and content discovery.

This actor uses YouTube's public autocomplete response. It does not require a YouTube account, API key, cookies, or a paid proxy.

### What this actor does

- **Autocomplete lookup:** pass one or more seed phrases and get YouTube's own suggestions
- **Ready search URLs:** every suggestion includes a `searchUrl` you can feed to a search scraper
- **Market and language aware:** localized suggestions per country and language
- **Bulk queries:** multiple seeds are processed in one run
- **Empty fields are omitted** — records only contain values that are actually populated.

### Output

One row is returned for every suggestion:

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `suggestion` | The exact phrase returned by YouTube autocomplete. |
| `inputQuery` | The seed keyword that produced the suggestion. |
| `rank` | Position within that seed keyword's returned list. |
| `language` | Language used for the request. |
| `market` | Country or region used for the request. |
| `searchUrl` | YouTube search URL for the suggestion when enabled. |

All emitted fields contain real public values. Empty suggestions are discarded rather than emitted as blank rows.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `queries` | array | `["web scraping"]` | One or more seed keywords or phrases. |
| `maxSuggestions` | integer | `10` | Suggestions to return per keyword (1–20). |
| `language` | string | `en` | Language code used to localize suggestions. |
| `market` | string | `US` | Country or region used to localize suggestions. |
| `deduplicateSuggestions` | boolean | `true` | Keep one row when the same suggestion appears for multiple keywords. |
| `includeSearchUrl` | boolean | `true` | Include a ready-to-use YouTube search URL on every row. |

### Examples

```json
{
  "queries": ["web scraping", "youtube automation"],
  "maxSuggestions": 10,
  "language": "en",
  "market": "US",
  "deduplicateSuggestions": true,
  "includeSearchUrl": true
}
```

#### Example: single seed

```json
{
  "queries": ["how to scrape"],
  "market": "US",
  "language": "en"
}
```

#### Example: multiple seeds

```json
{
  "queries": ["youtube api", "web scraping"],
  "market": "GB"
}
```

### Use cases

- **SEO and content research** — discover what users actually search for
- **Keyword expansion** — grow seed keywords into long-tail phrases
- **Market localization** — compare suggestions across countries
- **Autocomplete features** — power search boxes with real YouTube suggestions

### FAQ

#### Does this scrape video results?

No. Use the YouTube Search Scraper when you need video, channel, playlist, or Shorts result metadata.
