## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

For more details, see Apify documentation as [Markdown index](https://docs.apify.com/llms.txt) and [Markdown full-text](https://docs.apify.com/llms-full.txt).

# README

## PSA Population Report Scraper — Set Pop, PSA 10 & Gem Rate

> **Disclaimer:** Unofficial tool for publicly accessible PSA population data. **PSA**, **Professional Sports Authenticator**, and **Collectors** are trademarks of their owners. Not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by PSA or Collectors Holdings. For informational, research, aggregation, and market-intelligence use only. Respect applicable terms of use and law.

**PSA population report scraper** for **Pokémon TCG**, **Topps Chrome**, and other graded-card sets. Use it as a **PSA pop scraper**, **PSA pop API alternative**, and **set census** export: paste a **pop set URL**, a **heading ID**, or a **set name** such as Surging Sparks. Dataset rows are **one card variety each** — **PSA 10 pop**, **PSA 9**, **full grade ladder**, **gem rate**, and optional **monitor deltas**. Fast **HTTP JSON** (`GetSetItems`) — **no login field**, **no headless browser**, **no paid PSA Cert API**. Call from **Python**, **Node.js**, **cURL**, or **Apify MCP**.

Built for **card flippers** who decide whether to submit raw copies, **dealers** watching gem-rate compression, and **scheduled set monitors**. The official cert API does not return population; this Actor reads the same public set-census JSON the pop report table uses.

Volume marketplace still goes to [eBay Sold Listings Scraper](https://apify.com/crawloop/ebay-sold-listings-scraper).

### When to use this Actor

- You need a **PSA population report scraper** / **PSA pop API alternative** that returns flat JSON rows
- You want **bulk set pop** (every card in Surging Sparks or Topps Chrome), not a single cert paste
- You track **PSA 10 pop**, **gem rate**, half-grades, and qualifiers for submit / buy decisions
- You scrape PSA pop with **Python**, **Node.js**, or **MCP** and export JSON / CSV
- You run a **daily set monitor** and want **deltaPop10** / **gemRateChange** on a schedule

### When not to use this Actor

- **Single-slab cert verification** — this Actor is a set census, not a cert lookup
- **Live TCG seller listings** — use [TCGPlayer Listings Scraper](https://apify.com/crawloop/tcgplayer-listings-scraper) or [Cardmarket Listings Scraper](https://apify.com/crawloop/cardmarket-listings-scraper)
- **Weekly auction hammer** — use [Fanatics Collect Scraper](https://apify.com/crawloop/fanatics-collect-scraper)
- **Guide prices / sold comps** — use [PriceCharting Scraper](https://apify.com/crawloop/pricecharting-scraper) or [eBay Sold Listings Scraper](https://apify.com/crawloop/ebay-sold-listings-scraper)
- **US live-commerce firehose** — use [Whatnot Listings Scraper](https://apify.com/crawloop/whatnot-listings-scraper)
- **Official PSA Public API replacement** — cert fields still need PSA's cert API; pop is not in that API
- **Buyer PII or submission accounts** — public grade counts only

### Key features

- **Set URLs** — paginate every card in a pop heading (full grade ladder)
- **Set names** — `Surging Sparks` and `2023 Topps Chrome` resolve immediately; other names search public pop URLs
- **Heading IDs** — reuse IDs stored from a previous run
- **Gem-rate fields** — `pop10`, `pop9`, `total`, `gemRate` on every row
- **Monitor mode** — named Key-Value store of previous pops; later scheduled runs attach deltas
- **Changed-only option** — bill only spec IDs whose pop10 / total / gem rate moved
- **Flipper filters** — max PSA 10 pop, min/max gem rate, subject / variety contains
- **MCP / AI ready** — call from assistants via Apify MCP

### MCP and AI assistants

Use this Actor from AI tools via [Apify MCP](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/mcp).
Connect your Apify account, then call this Actor by its Store ID / name.

Example prompts:

- "Run PSA Population Report Scraper for Surging Sparks and return the 20 lowest gem-rate SIRs as JSON"
- "Scrape 2023 Topps Chrome pop with PSA Population Report Scraper, cap at 500 rows, and summarize PSA 10 vs total"
- "Chain PSA Population Report Scraper then TCGPlayer Listings Scraper for Hydreigon EX SIR live asks vs gem rate"

### FAQ

**Does this replace the PSA Cert API?**\
No. Cert lookup is a different product. Population is not returned by the public cert API. This Actor scrapes set census rows.

**Why not one cert number?**\
A flipper watching Surging Sparks needs every card's gem rate on a schedule. One-cert lookups do not retain. Use `monitorMode` on the set.

**How big is Topps Chrome?**\
The 2023 baseball Chrome heading is tens of thousands of varieties. Leave `maxItems` at 500 for a sample, or set `0` only when you want the full dump.

**Do I need a PSA login?**\
The HTML pop pages redirect to Collectors sign-in. This Actor calls the public `GetSetItems` JSON used by the table, so the input form does not ask for a password.

# Actor input Schema

## `setNames` (type: `array`):

PSA pop set search (e.g. Surging Sparks, 2023 Topps Chrome). Aliases resolve instantly; other names search public pop URLs. Prefer startUrls when a name matches several years / languages.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Direct PSA Population Report set pages. Example: https://www.psacard.com/pop/tcg-cards/2024/pokemon-ssp-en-surging-sparks/285178

## `headingIds` (type: `array`):

Numeric PSA pop heading IDs from the set URL (last path segment). Use when you already store IDs from a previous run.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum dataset rows across all sets. 0 = unlimited. Default 500 covers a typical TCG set (Surging Sparks is ~412). Large baseball sets such as Topps Chrome can exceed 60k rows — raise this only when you want the full census.

## `maxSets` (type: `integer`):

When a set name matches several pop URLs, how many to scrape (best match first). URLs and heading IDs are always scraped.

## `isPsaDna` (type: `boolean`):

Request the PSA/DNA certified line instead of standard PSA card grades.

## `includeSetTotal` (type: `boolean`):

Emit one set\_total row (SpecID 0) with the set-wide grade census before card rows.

## `subjectContains` (type: `string`):

Keep cards whose subject / player / Pokémon name contains this text (case-insensitive). Set totals always pass.

## `varietyContains` (type: `string`):

Keep cards whose variety contains this text (e.g. Special Illustration Rare, Refractor). Set totals always pass.

## `minPop10` (type: `integer`):

Drop cards with fewer PSA 10s than this.

## `maxPop10` (type: `integer`):

Drop cards with more PSA 10s than this (scarce gem filter).

## `minGemRate` (type: `number`):

Keep cards whose PSA 10 / total is at least this (0–1). Example: 0.3 = 30% gem.

## `maxGemRate` (type: `number`):

Keep cards whose PSA 10 / total is at most this (hard-to-gem filter).

## `minTotal` (type: `integer`):

Drop cards with fewer total graded copies than this.

## `monitorMode` (type: `boolean`):

On a schedule, attach prevPop10 / deltaPop10 / gemRateChange from the last snapshot. First run is a full baseline. Pair with an Apify Schedule and a stable monitorStoreName. Unlike listing monitors, this re-emits the set census every run unless emitChangedOnly is on.

## `emitChangedOnly` (type: `boolean`):

With monitorMode, push and charge only spec IDs whose pop10, total, or gem rate moved since the last snapshot. First run still delivers the full match set.

## `monitorStoreName` (type: `string`):

Named Key-Value store for pop snapshots across scheduled runs. Use a distinct name per watch (e.g. ssp-en vs chrome-2023).

## `resetMonitorState` (type: `boolean`):

Clear the pop snapshot before this run (next run becomes a new baseline).

## `requestDelaySecs` (type: `number`):

Pause between GetSetItems pages.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Recommended on Apify: RESIDENTIAL. Datacenter IPs can 429 GetSetItems. Local runs can leave proxy off.
