## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple App Store Scraper: Reviews, Ratings, Search & App Details

Get **Apple App Store reviews, star ratings, app details and search results** for many apps and many countries in one run. No login, no API key, no browser. Built on Apple's public customer reviews feed and the official iTunes Search and Lookup API.

**Use it for:** review monitoring and alerts, competitor research, ASO (App Store Optimization), sentiment analysis, release feedback after each version, market research across countries, and feeding reviews into an LLM or BI tool.

### What you get

| Data | Fields |
|---|---|
| **Reviews** | review ID, title, text, star rating (1-5), app version, author name, date, helpful votes, country, app name and ID |
| **App details** | name, bundle ID, developer, price, currency, genres, average rating, rating count, current version rating, version, release notes, last update, size, content rating, languages, minimum iOS, description, icon, screenshots, App Store URL |
| **Search results** | rank plus every app detail field above, for any keyword in any country |

### Features

- **Many apps x many countries in one run.** Paste App Store IDs, App Store URLs or bundle IDs and a list of 2-letter country codes (US, GB, DE, JP, KR, BR ...).
- **Sort by most recent or most helpful.**
- **Up to 500 reviews per app, country and sort order** (the maximum Apple's public feed serves).
- **Date filter**: only reviews since `2026-09-01` or since `7 days`.
- **New reviews only mode** for daily or hourly schedules: the Actor remembers which reviews it already returned and only outputs new ones. Runs without new reviews cost almost nothing.
- **Reliable feed reading.** Apple's review feed often returns an empty page for one URL while the same page is available under an equivalent URL. The Actor automatically tries the equivalent feed URLs, so you get reviews where simple scrapers return nothing.
- **Polite and fast fail.** Requests are sequential and respect Apple's documented limit for the Search API (about 20 calls per minute). Rate limits and server errors are retried with backoff. Invalid apps and countries stop the run within seconds with a clear message and no charge.

The dataset has two views: **Reviews** and **Apps and search results**. A run summary (items, pages and errors per app and country) is saved as `RUN_SUMMARY` in the key-value store.

### How to use

1. Paste apps (ID, App Store URL or bundle ID) and countries.
2. Choose reviews, app details and/or search terms.
3. Click **Start**. Download results as JSON, CSV, Excel, or use the API, webhooks, Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets integrations.

You can find the app ID in any App Store URL: `https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252` -> `389801252`.

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

Add the Apify MCP server to Claude, Cursor or any MCP client and call this Actor as a tool, for example: "Get the latest 200 US and UK reviews of app 389801252 and summarize the top complaints."

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$0.25 per 1,000 results** (reviews, app detail rows and search result rows), plus a tiny start fee. Apify platform usage is included. Reviews skipped by your filters (date, new-only) are not charged.

### FAQ

**How many reviews can I get per app?**
Apple's public feed serves up to 500 reviews (10 pages of 50) per app, country and sort order. To collect more, run more countries or both sort orders, or schedule the Actor with new-only mode to build up history over time.

**Why are the newest reviews one or two days old?**
Apple updates its public review feed with a delay, usually around one day. The Actor returns what Apple publishes.

**Some apps show fewer reviews in small countries. Why?**
The feed only contains written reviews for that storefront. Star ratings without text are counted in `userRatingCount` but are not reviews. If every feed URL is empty, the run summary says so.

**Are the helpful vote counts reliable?**
They are what Apple's feed reports, and Apple often reports 0 for both fields.

**Does it need a proxy?**
No. Apple's public endpoints work without a proxy. You can still set one in the input.

**What happens with a wrong app ID or country?**
The run stops within seconds with a clear message, and nothing is charged.

**Is this legal?**
The Actor only reads public data Apple publishes for machines: the customer reviews RSS feed and the documented iTunes Search and Lookup API. It does not log in, bypass protections or use private APIs, and it respects Apple's documented rate limit. You are responsible for how you use the data, including reviewer names (personal data under GDPR and similar laws) and Apple's terms for promotional artwork.

### Data source and terms

- Reviews: Apple public customer reviews feed `https://itunes.apple.com/{country}/rss/customerreviews/page={n}/id={id}/sortby={mostrecent|mosthelpful}/json`.
- App details and search: official iTunes Search API and Lookup API (`https://itunes.apple.com/search`, `https://itunes.apple.com/lookup`), documented by Apple at performance-partners.apple.com/search-api. Apple states a limit of approximately 20 calls per minute; the Actor waits about 3 seconds between Search and Lookup calls and sends its own identifying User-Agent.
- Apple's documentation restricts promotional content (previews, artwork, icons) to promoting the store item. The Actor returns only the image URLs, not the files.
- This Actor is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Apple Inc. App Store is a trademark of Apple Inc.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

One app per line. Accepts a numeric App Store ID (389801252), an App Store URL (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252) or a bundle ID (com.burbn.instagram). Leave empty if you only want search results.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

2-letter country codes: US, GB, DE, FR, JP, KR, BR, IN ... Every app and search term is collected in every country. Reviews, prices, ratings and ranking differ per storefront.

## `includeReviews` (type: `boolean`):

Collect customer reviews (title, text, star rating, app version, author, date, votes) for each app and country.

## `reviewSort` (type: `string`):

Most recent is best for monitoring. Most helpful returns the reviews other users voted up.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Apple's public feed returns at most 500 reviews (10 pages of 50) per app, country and sort order. 0 means as many as available.

## `onlyNewSince` (type: `string`):

Optional. A date (2026-09-01 or 2026-09-01T12:00:00Z) or a relative value (24 hours, 7 days, 2 weeks). Older reviews are skipped and not charged.

## `onlyNewReviews` (type: `boolean`):

Remembers review IDs per app and country in a named key-value store. The first run returns the latest reviews, later runs (for example a daily schedule) return only new ones. Runs with no new reviews succeed and cost almost nothing.

## `monitorName` (type: `string`):

Use a different name for each schedule or project so their memories do not mix.

## `includeAppDetails` (type: `boolean`):

One row per app and country: name, developer, price, currency, genres, average rating, rating count, current version rating, version, release notes, size, content rating, languages, description, icon, screenshots, URL.

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Optional. Searches the App Store like the search box (for example "habit tracker") and returns one row per app with its rank and full details. Runs in every country above.

## `searchLimit` (type: `integer`):

1 to 200.

## `maxRetries` (type: `integer`):

Retries on rate limits (HTTP 403, 429) and server errors with exponential backoff. Invalid apps and countries are never retried.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed for normal runs. Apple's public endpoints work without a proxy.
