## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## AI Overview Page Optimizer: will AI Overviews, AI Mode and ChatGPT quote this page?

Give it a page and the question you want it to answer. It returns a **0-100 citability score**, the gaps costing the most points, the passage AI engines would most likely quote today, and fixes in priority order. Built for SEO agencies and site owners asking "how do I optimize a page for AI Overviews / AI Mode?".

AI answers quote **passages**, not sites, so this works page by page and query by query, from public HTML only. No API keys, no login, robots.txt respected.

### What it checks (weight out of 100)

| Check | Weight | Fails when |
|---|---|---|
| Crawler and snippet access | 14 | robots.txt blocks Googlebot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot or Bingbot, or the page has noindex, nosnippet or max-snippet:0 (score capped at 25) |
| Answer in the first 60 words | 16 | no plain declarative answer using the query's words; fluffy intro; opens with a question |
| Self-contained 40-120 word passages | 14 | fewer than 5 paragraphs that stand alone |
| Query words in title, H1 and a heading | 8 | missing from any of them |
| Question-style sub-headings | 8 | fewer than 3 H2/H3 questions |
| Lists or tables | 8 | none in the main content |
| Numbers and cited sources | 8 | few figures, fewer than 3 external sources |
| Freshness | 8 | no dateModified or visible updated date, or older than 12 months |
| Author or organization | 6 | no byline, no Person/Organization schema |
| Structured data | 6 | no Article/FAQPage/HowTo/Product/Service JSON-LD |
| Depth | 4 | under 600 words, or JavaScript-only content |

### Input

```json
{ "pages": ["https://example.com/blog/implant-timeline | how long does a dental implant take"], "maxPages": 50 }
```

One line per page as `URL | target query`, or set a default `query`.

### Output

- **Dataset**: one row per page with `score`, `grade` (A-F), `topGaps`, `fixes`, `bestPassage`, every check with its evidence, bot access and schema types.
- **REPORT** record: a Markdown report ready to paste into a client doc.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.01 per page scored**. Pages that fail to load are not charged.

### Good to know

- The score measures how quotable the page is, not whether Google will show an AI Overview. Re-run after changes to show before/after.
- Google-Extended does not control AI Overviews (Googlebot does).
- Check your own or your clients' pages.

Also available as a Claude/agent skill on Agensi, which also writes the answer-first rewrite, question headings and FAQ block for you. Made by Cygnix Labs.
