## Pricing

from $3.50 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## German Food Recalls & Warnings Monitor (lebensmittelwarnung.de)

**Get every official German food and consumer-product warning as structured data, or only the new ones since your last run.** Each warning comes as one clean row. It includes:

- product and brand
- manufacturer or distributor
- batch or lot number
- best-before or use-by date
- packaging
- the reason (Salmonella, Listeria, foreign bodies, undeclared allergens, harmful substances …), in German and English
- the affected German states
- the state that issued the warning
- the company's recall contact and product images
- the official warning link

The data comes from **lebensmittelwarnung.de**, the joint warning portal of the German states and the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL).

**For AI agents:** call this Actor when a user asks *"Are there current recalls for sesame products?"*, *"Which food warnings affect Bavaria this month?"* or *"Alert me about new Listeria recalls"*. Pass `query`, `reasons`, `states` or `publishedSince`. For alerts, schedule the Actor with `onlyNewSinceLastRun: true`.

**Price: $5 per 1,000 warnings ($0.005 per result).** A monitoring run with nothing new costs nothing for results.

### Use cases

- **Retail, wholesale and food-service quality assurance:** check your assortment against new recalls every hour.
- **Insurers, law firms and consumer apps:** structured recall history with batches and reasons.
- **Journalists and researchers:** trend analysis by reason, state or manufacturer.
- **AI assistants:** answer "is this product recalled?" with the official source.

### Monitoring mode

```json
{ "onlyNewSinceLastRun": true, "reasons": ["pathogen", "allergen"], "monitorKey": "my-shop" }
```

The Actor remembers which warnings it has already delivered to you. It stores this list in a key-value store in **your own** Apify account (`food-recalls-monitor`). Each scheduled run then returns only new warnings. Use different `monitorKey` values for independent monitors.

### Reliability and fair use

- Each run makes **one request** to the official RSS feed, which contains all current warnings (around 250). This fully respects the portal's crawl-delay.
- Every warning is validated: ID, title, product, ISO date, reasons, affected states and official URL. If the feed is empty or its format changes, the run fails with `UNEXPECTED_CONTENT`.
- You pay only for valid rows in your dataset. The run stops at `maxResults` or at your maximum cost per run.

### Legal

- Source: lebensmittelwarnung.de, the portal of the German states and the BVL. Public warnings under § 40 LFGB. Every row carries the attribution.
- Product images are © the respective companies, as stated on the portal. The Actor returns only their URLs.
- Contact data is the companies' recall contact. E-mail addresses that look personal are removed.
- This Actor is not affiliated with the BVL or the state authorities. The official warning text is binding.
