## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple App Store Scraper

Collect App Store data you can analyze directly: app details for any search term,
app ID, or top chart, plus the latest public customer reviews — gathered in a
single run and delivered as clean, deduplicated records.

### What you can use it for

- **App store research** — compare apps by name, seller, category, price,
version, ratings, release dates, supported devices, and store URLs.
- **Competitive tracking** — follow the top-free, top-grossing, iPad, and Mac
charts across one or several storefronts.
- **Customer feedback analysis** — collect public reviews per app and filter by
minimum rating or start date to focus on the feedback that matters.
- **Dataset building** — feed your own dashboards, reports, or pipelines with one
  useful record per dataset item.

### What you get

Each run writes one **app** or **review** record per default-dataset item:

- **App records** — from keyword search, direct app-ID lookup, or top charts.
Include identifiers, name, seller, category, price, description, version,
ratings, release dates, device support, screenshots, and store URLs.
- **Review records** — public customer reviews with author, rating, version,
title, content, vote counts, timestamps, and review URL.

Records are deduplicated across sources (search, lookup, charts, reviews), so a
duplicate is never written or charged. Run summaries and per-source failures are
kept separate from the billed dataset.

### How to use it

Open the Actor and run it. The default input already collects US search results
for the keyword `telegram`, so a run starts with zero configuration. Provide **at
least one** of the inputs below to change what is collected:

| Input | What it collects |
|---|---|
| `searchTerms` | Apps matching each keyword (e.g. `["telegram"]`) |
| `appIds` | Full details for the given App Store app IDs |
| `reviewsForAppIds` | Customer reviews for the given app IDs |
| `charts` | Top charts (e.g. `["topfreeapplications"]`) |
| `countries` | Storefront country codes (e.g. `["us", "de"]`) |
| `maxResults` | Maximum number of useful result records (default `1000`) |
| `maxReviewPages` | Pages of reviews to collect per app |
| `minRating` | Minimum review rating (0-5) to keep; `0` keeps all |
| `startDate` | Keep only reviews updated on or after this date |
| `maxTotalChargeUsd` | Optional USD spending limit for a run (`0` = unlimited) |

### Results

Results land in your run's default dataset:

```json
{"recordType": "app", "appId": 310633997, "trackName": "WhatsApp Messenger", "bundleId": "net.whatsapp.WhatsApp", "sellerName": "WhatsApp LLC", "primaryGenreName": "Social Networking", ...}
```

Each dataset item is exactly one billed result. Run metadata (counts, timings,
options, modeled cost) and any per-source failures are stored in the run's
key-value store under `OUTPUT`, `SUMMARY`, and `FAILURES` — never in the billed
dataset.

### Pricing and billing

- Monetary pricing is pending a fresh, validated Pricing decision and live Apify configuration.
- Useful, unique default-dataset items are the charging unit; no historical monetary rate is assumed.
- `maxTotalChargeUsd` remains an optional spending limit, enforced by Apify's authoritative charge response.

### Constraints

- Uses Apple's public App Store feeds: no authentication, cookies, or proxies to
  set up.
- Apple's public review feeds expose a bounded most-recent window per app; older
history is not available from these public endpoints.
- Each run is capped by `maxResults` (default `1000`); keyword search returns up
to Apple's 200-result per-term limit, and bounded retries and concurrency
  handle transient throttling or errors.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Keyword app-store search queries to look up apps. Each returned app is one billed result.

## `appIds` (type: `array`):

Numeric App Store identifiers to fetch full app details for. Each app detail is one billed result.

## `reviewsForAppIds` (type: `array`):

App Store identifiers whose customer reviews are collected. Each review is one billed result.

## `charts` (type: `array`):

Top Charts to collect. Each chart entry is one billed app result.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter App Store storefront codes to query (default: us).

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Global cap on useful results written. Corresponds to the maximum number of billed dataset items for this run.

## `maxReviewPages` (type: `integer`):

How many pages of reviews to collect per app (Apple exposes a bounded most-recent window).

## `minRating` (type: `integer`):

Keep only reviews with a rating greater than or equal to this value (0-5). 0 keeps all.

## `startDate` (type: `string`):

Keep only reviews updated on or after this ISO-8601 date/time. Leave empty to keep all.

## `maxTotalChargeUsd` (type: `number`):

Stop the run once the total charge reaches this value. 0 means no spending limit for this run.

## `maxRetries` (type: `integer`):

Retries per request on transient network errors and 5xx/429 responses.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Bound on the number of in-flight HTTP requests.

## `maxResponseBytes` (type: `integer`):

Per-response cap. Responses larger than this fail that source.
