## Pricing

Pay per event

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Singapore Charities Scraper

Find and export structured records from Singapore's Charity Portal. The Actor
collects charity and Institution of a Public Character (IPC) directory data into
an Apify dataset that is ready to download as JSON, CSV, Excel, or another
supported dataset format.

Use it to build charity directories, identify organisations in a particular
sector, research current IPCs, or create a dated snapshot of public registry
information.

### What you get

Each dataset item includes the organisation's stable identifier, name, UEN,
charity status, IPC status and period, sector, classification, activities,
registration date, Charity Portal source, collection time, and the search
criteria used for the run. Source fields that are unavailable remain empty
rather than being inferred.

### How to use the Actor

1. Optionally enter search text or choose a sector.
2. Enable **Current IPCs only** if you only need records currently identified as
   IPCs by the source.
3. Set the maximum number of records to collect, from 1 to 5,000.
4. Start the Actor and open its default dataset to inspect or export the results.

Leaving the search and filter fields empty collects the available directory up
to the configured maximum. A small input such as the following is useful for a
quick run:

```json
{
  "query": "health",
  "currentIpcOnly": false,
  "maxItems": 10
}
```

Supported sectors are Arts and Heritage, Community, Education, Health,
Religious, Social and Welfare, Sports, and Others. Search text is limited to 200
characters.

### Output example

```json
{
  "id": "source UEN or registry identifier",
  "name": "Charity name",
  "uen": "source UEN",
  "charityStatus": "source charity status",
  "ipcStatus": "source IPC status",
  "sector": "Health",
  "sourceUrl": "https://www.charities.gov.sg/Pages/BasicSearch.aspx",
  "collectedAt": "2026-09-24T00:00:00+00:00",
  "searchContext": {
    "query": "health",
    "sector": "Health",
    "currentIpcOnly": false
  }
}
```

Status and classification values are retained from the Charity Portal. The
Actor does not interpret legal status, compliance, or donation suitability.
Source changes can affect field availability or require an Actor update.

### Charging

This Actor uses pay-per-event charging. Charges are recorded when a run starts,
when a page of up to 100 results is successfully processed, and when an
individual charity record is stored. Work completed before a later failure,
abort, or timeout remains chargeable; records that are not stored are not
charged.

### Development

```console
python3 -m pytest -q
python3 -m compileall -q src tests
```

# Actor input Schema

## `query` (type: `string`):

Optional charity name or search text.

## `sector` (type: `string`):

Optionally restrict results to one official primary sector.

## `currentIpcOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Only return records whose source IPC status is current.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after storing this many matching records.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "query": "",
  "currentIpcOnly": false,
  "maxItems": 1
}
```

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "query": "",
    "currentIpcOnly": false,
    "maxItems": 1
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("daftvader/singapore-charities-scrape-5cb4ffc1-9603-5bba-96ae-7080f5c2ed73").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
