## Pricing

from $0.50 / 1,000 articles

This Actor is paid per event and usage. You are charged both the fixed price for specific events and for Apify platform usage.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper - real article URLs, search, topics

Collect articles from **Google News search, topic sections and top headlines** in 12 country
editions, and get the **real publisher URL** for every article, not the `news.google.com`
redirect link that Google News feeds give you.

### Why this one

- **Real article URLs.** Google News wraps every link in its own redirect. This Actor decodes each
  one to the publisher's address (`https://www.reuters.com/...`), so you can open, store, dedupe
  or scrape the article directly.
- **Clean titles.** The " - Publisher" suffix Google adds to every headline is removed; the
  publisher is in its own `source` column.
- **Search like on Google.** Quoted phrases, `-exclude`, `OR`, plus a time window (past hour to
  past 30 days) and a single-site filter.
- **Topics and front page.** World, Business, Technology, Science, Health, Sports, Entertainment,
  Nation, and the top headlines, in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India, Germany, France, Spain,
  Italy, Brazil, Mexico and Japan editions.
- **Runs finish.** When Google rate-limits, the Actor backs off, retries and moves its feed
  requests to residential IPs automatically.
- **You never pay for failures.** Feeds that fail are listed in `RUN_SUMMARY` and cost nothing.

### Output

One row per article:

```json
{
    "rank": 1,
    "title": "Artemis II Lessons: Building Mission-Critical Embedded Software",
    "source": "Design News",
    "sourceUrl": "https://www.designnews.com",
    "publishedAt": "2026-10-22T07:00:00.000Z",
    "url": "https://www.designnews.com/embedded-systems/what-artemis-ii-teaches-us-...",
    "urlDecoded": true,
    "googleNewsUrl": "https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMi...",
    "articleId": "CBMi...",
    "feed": "search",
    "feedLabel": "embedded systems",
    "edition": "US:en",
    "timeRange": "7d"
}
```

`rank` is the article's position in Google's results for that feed. Articles that appear in more
than one feed in the same run are returned once.

### Use cases

- **Media monitoring:** track your brand, competitors or executives and schedule daily runs.
- **Market and investment research:** follow news on companies, sectors or keywords over time.
- **Content and newsletters:** gather the day's stories on a topic with links that go straight to
  the source.
- **AI and RAG pipelines:** feed fresh, deduplicated article URLs into a summarizer or an
  article-text extractor.

### Pricing

Pay per article, plus the platform usage of your run. See the Pricing tab. Failed feeds are free.
Turning off **Get real article URLs** makes runs faster and cheaper if you only need titles and
sources.

### Use it from code

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/dariandanciu~google-news-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<YOUR_TOKEN>" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"queries":["\"electric vehicles\" -tesla"],"timeRange":"7d"}'
```

### Good to know

- Google News feeds return **up to 100 articles per query or topic**. For more, split a broad
  query into narrower ones or run on a schedule.
- A few articles occasionally can't be decoded (Google changes or removes them); those keep
  `urlDecoded: false` and still have `googleNewsUrl`.
- This Actor collects headlines and links that Google News publishes in its public feeds. It does
  not copy article text.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

Search Google News for these, one per line. Google search operators work: "exact phrase", -exclude, OR.

## `topics` (type: `array`):

Google News topic sections to collect.

## `topHeadlines` (type: `boolean`):

Also collect the Google News front page.

## `edition` (type: `string`):

Which Google News edition (country and language) to read.

## `timeRange` (type: `string`):

Only return search results published in this window.

## `site` (type: `string`):

Limit search results to one publisher, e.g. reuters.com.

## `decodeUrls` (type: `boolean`):

Google News hides publisher links behind news.google.com redirects. On, each article gets the real publisher URL. Off is faster and cheaper.

## `maxArticlesPerFeed` (type: `integer`):

Google returns up to 100 per feed.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy is recommended. If Google rate-limits, feed requests switch to residential proxies automatically.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "artificial intelligence",
    "electric vehicles"
  ],
  "topHeadlines": false,
  "edition": "US:en",
  "timeRange": "any",
  "decodeUrls": true,
  "maxArticlesPerFeed": 100,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One row per article with the real publisher URL.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Articles and decoded links per feed, and any feeds that failed (not charged).
