## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## US Federal Contract Opportunities (SAM.gov)

**US government contracts: active federal contract opportunities - solicitations, presolicitations, sources sought, special notices, awards - from SAM.gov's official public extract (about 70,000 notices; no account, no API key).**
Main fields: title, agency and office, NAICS and PSC codes, set-aside, posted date, response deadline, place of performance, award amount and awardee.
**USD 0.003 per notice (USD 3 per 1,000), plus USD 0.01 per run for the download.** Notices your filters drop, errors and a run that cannot reach SAM.gov are free.

| Title | Department | Type | NAICS | Set-aside | Respond by | Office state | Awardee |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Annual Renewal for SonarSource | SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION | Combined Synopsis/Solicitation | 541519 | NONE | 2026-11-05 | MD | - |

The rows come from a real cloud run of 04.11.2026 (run GqqKaHCD7LPuxAfz0) on the extract of 2026-11-03, with the input `{"naicsCodes": ["5415"], "maxNotices": 5}`: the first 5 notices of the last 7 days in NAICS 5415. The award was posted as 3 notices, so it shows 3 times. The full item is under Output.

### Who uses it

- **Federal contractors and bid teams:** every morning, the new solicitations in your NAICS codes and states.
- **Small businesses:** the set-aside opportunities for your certification (8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB).
- **Capture and market analysts:** the award notices - who won, for which agency, at what amount.

### What it does not do

- It returns active notices only. An archived notice is not in the extract.
- A notice posted today comes with tomorrow's extract.
- It returns no attachments, and descriptions longer than about 32,000 characters are cut by the source.
- The output has no contact persons.

### Input

```json
{
  "postedFrom": "2026-10-28",
  "postedTo": "2026-11-03",
  "noticeTypes": ["solicitation", "combined-synopsis-solicitation"],
  "naicsCodes": ["5415", "541330"],
  "setAsides": ["SBA", "SDVOSBC"],
  "states": ["VA", "MD", "DC"],
  "keywords": ["cybersecurity"],
  "maxNotices": 500
}
```

All fields are optional.
An empty input returns up to 1,000 notices posted in the last 7 days.

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `postedFrom`, `postedTo` | Posted days (YYYY-MM-DD), both included. Default: the last 7 days. The extract holds every active notice, back to 2008. |
| `noticeTypes` | `solicitation`, `combined-synopsis-solicitation`, `presolicitation`, `sources-sought`, `special-notice`, `award`, `justification`, `modification`, `surplus-sale`, `bundling`. Default: all types. |
| `naicsCodes` | NAICS codes or their start (2 to 6 digits): `5415` = computer systems design, `236` = building construction. |
| `setAsides` | SAM.gov set-aside codes: `SBA` (total small business), `SBP`, `8A`, `8AN`, `HZC`, `HZS`, `SDVOSBC`, `SDVOSBS`, `WOSB`, `WOSBSS`, `EDWOSB`, `EDWOSBSS`, `LAS`, `IEE`, `ISBEE`, `BICIV`, `VSA`, `VSS`, `ESB`, `NONE`. |
| `states` | Two-letter state codes. The actor compares the place of performance. When a notice states no usable place of performance, it compares the contracting office's state. A place abroad counts in no state. |
| `keywords` | Text in the title or the description, case ignored. |
| `maxNotices` | The run stops after this number of notices. Default 1,000, at most 100,000. |

In each filter, one matching value is enough.
A notice must pass every filter that you set.

### Pricing (pay per event)

| Event | Price | When |
|---|---|---|
| `notice` | **USD 0.003** | one notice that matched your filters, pushed to the dataset |
| `run` | **USD 0.01** | once per run, when the SAM.gov extract starts to arrive (the download of about 216 MB) |

Free: notices that your filters drop, error items, and the note "nothing matched".
1,000 notices cost USD 3.01.
A run that cannot reach SAM.gov costs nothing.

### Personal data

The actor filters persons out, and the filter works on patterns. Before it pushes a notice:

- It does not read the 10 contact columns of the extract (the primary and secondary contact's title, name, e-mail, phone and fax).
- It removes e-mail addresses and telephone numbers from all texts. They show as `[e-mail removed]` and `[phone removed]`.
- It removes a name after a salutation (Mr., Ms.) or a contact label (Point of Contact:, POC:, Contracting Officer:). The name shows as `[name removed]`.
- An awardee keeps its name only when the name carries the legal form of a company (LLC, Inc., Corporation, LLP, a joint venture, GmbH and others). The awardee's address is dropped. A person, a trade name of a person (DBA) or a name without a legal form shows with `awardeeWithheld: true`.

`personalDataRemoved: true` marks a notice that the filter changed.
The filter works on patterns.
A name in free text without a salutation or a label can stay.

A company named after a person keeps its name, because it is a legal person.

### Data source and terms

- **Source:** the SAM.gov Data Services public extract `ContractOpportunitiesFullCSV.csv` (Contract Opportunities, `datagov`, `privacy=Public`), operated by the U.S. General Services Administration.
- **Terms (sam.gov/content/about/terms-of-use, read 2026-11-04):** "You may also download some SAM.gov data." "Most material on our site is free of copyright and may be copied and distributed without permission."
- The terms forbid "Automated data gathering, web scraping tools".
  This actor scrapes nothing.
  It downloads the public extract that SAM.gov publishes for download, once per run.
- The contracting office that posts a notice is responsible for its content.
  For an official solicitation, read the notice at `noticeUrl` and its attachments on SAM.gov.

### Limits

- The extract holds active notices only. An archived or cancelled notice is not in it.
- A notice posted today comes with tomorrow's extract.
- The extract cuts long descriptions at about 32,000 characters. Attachments are not in it.
- The notices come in the extract's order, not sorted by date. The newest notices come first in it.
- Every run reads the extract (about 216 MB) from its start until it has your notices. A filter that matches few notices reads all of it, which takes minutes.

### Run summary

The run summary is in the default key-value store under `SUMMARY`, the counts under `STATS`.
The data comes as the source publishes it, without warranty.
