## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Rising Searches + the News Behind Them

Google Trends rising searches tell you **what** is climbing. They don't tell you **why**. This Actor does both: for each keyword it finds the **rising Google searches** (including "Breakout" terms, +5000%) and attaches the **news headlines behind each one**. It is built for content teams, marketers, newsletters and anyone who wants to spot trends early.

### How to find rising Google searches and why they spike

1. **Rising searches for my keywords:** give seed topics (`home assistant`, `electric bikes`) and get the breakout searches around them, each with its news.
2. **Trending right now:** everything trending in a country today, with approximate search volume and the stories driving it.

### Example output

```json
{
  "keyword": "home assistant",
  "risingQuery": "apple homeview home assistant",
  "growth": "Breakout (+5000% or more)",
  "news": [
    {"title": "Apple HomeView finally offers a simpler alternative to Home Assistant", "source": "AppleInsider", "publishedAt": "2026-10-14T15:02:00Z"},
    {"title": "Meet Apple HomeView, a new way to enjoy entertainment...", "source": "Apple"}
  ],
  "trendsLink": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=..."
}
```

### What data can you extract

Per rising search you get the seed `keyword`, the `risingQuery`, its `growth` (for example "Breakout"), the related `news` (title, source, publish time) and a `trendsLink` to open the query in Google Trends. In trending-now mode you also get the approximate search volume.

### Use cases

#### Who it's for

- **Content teams and newsletters:** know what to write about this week, and why people care.
- **Marketers and SEO:** catch breakout queries early, with context.
- **E-commerce:** spot rising product searches in your category.
- **AI agents:** one call answers "what's breaking out around X, and why?"

Schedule it daily or weekly. It pairs with our *Google News + Full Text* Actor when you need the full articles.

### How much does it cost

Pay per event: one fee per explained trend, plus the standard start fee.

### FAQ

#### How do I see why a Google search is rising?

Run this Actor with your keyword. Each rising search comes with the news headlines (title, source, date) that are most likely behind the spike.

#### What does "Breakout" mean in Google Trends?

Google labels a rising query "Breakout" when its growth is more than 5000%. These rows show `Breakout (+5000% or more)` in the `growth` field.

#### Can I see what is trending on Google right now?

Yes. The "Trending right now" mode lists what is trending in a country today, with approximate search volume and the stories driving it.

#### Does it find trends for any topic?

It finds rising searches around the seed keywords you give it, so choose topics your audience cares about. Results depend on what Google Trends shows for that keyword and country.

#### Can I run it every day?

Yes. Use Apify Schedules to run it daily or weekly and send the results to your newsletter or sheet.
