## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## LinkedIn Executive Post Monitor

Never miss a target's post — be the first to comment.

### Watch the demo

YouTube video coming soon.

### What this Actor does

Give it the LinkedIn profiles you care about — dream-account executives, prospects, investors, partners. The Actor remembers every post it has already seen and returns **only the posts published since the last run**.

Social selling converts when you show up early. This Actor makes "early" automatic: schedule it daily and it hands you exactly the posts that are new, with the author, the text, the publish time, and current engagement.

It uses public data only, requires no cookies and no login, and never repeats a post.

### Input

| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `profile_urls` | string\[] | Yes | LinkedIn profile URLs to watch for new posts |
| `state_key` | string | No | Namespaces the seen-history. Use one key per watchlist (default `default`) |
| `max_posts_per_profile` | integer | No | How many recent posts to check per profile, 1–50 (default `10`) |

Example:

```json
{
  "profile_urls": [
    "https://www.linkedin.com/in/example-executive-1",
    "https://www.linkedin.com/in/example-executive-2"
  ],
  "state_key": "dream-accounts",
  "max_posts_per_profile": 10
}
```

### How to use it

1. Paste the profiles you want to watch.
2. Set a `state_key` for this watchlist.
3. Click **Start**. The first run returns each profile's recent posts flagged `isFirstRun: true`.
4. **Schedule it daily.** Every later run returns only the posts published since the previous run.

### Output

One row per new post:

```json
{
  "schemaVersion": "1.0",
  "checkedAt": "2026-09-25T10:00:00+00:00",
  "stateKey": "dream-accounts",
  "authorProfileUrl": "https://www.linkedin.com/in/example-executive-1",
  "authorName": "Example Executive",
  "postUrl": "https://www.linkedin.com/posts/example_activity-123-X/",
  "postText": "Public post text (truncated)",
  "postedAt": "2026-09-24T09:00:00+00:00",
  "reactions": 412,
  "comments": 37,
  "engagementTotal": 449,
  "isFirstRun": false,
  "collectedAt": "2026-09-25T10:00:00+00:00"
}
```

The `OUTPUT` key-value-store record reports profiles monitored, new posts, and whether the run was empty.

### Pricing

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Actor start | $0.02 |
| New post | $0.03 |

You pay only for posts returned. A daily run over 50 quiet executives can cost just the start fee.

### Common uses

- **First-comment advantage** — comment within minutes of a target's post.
- **Executive engagement** — stay top-of-mind with the people who matter to a deal.
- **Competitive watching** — see what a rival's leadership is saying, as they say it.
- **Investor and partner tracking** — never miss a signal from a relationship you care about.

### Limits

- Only public posts are read.
- The first run for a profile returns its recent posts flagged `isFirstRun: true`; later runs return only new ones.
- Seen-history is capped per profile (the most recent 200 posts), so a very long gap may re-surface an old post.
- A profile with no public posts produces no rows.

### Automation

Run from the Apify API, schedules, or webhooks. Download the same dataset as JSON, CSV, or Excel.

### Feedback and support

Use the Actor's Issues tab for reproducible problems. Include the affected profile URLs, but do not include credentials.

### FAQ

**How much does it cost to run this Actor?**
Pricing is listed in the Pricing section above, charged per row returned. You only pay for the rows
the Actor actually produces, so a small test run costs cents.

**Do I need cookies or a LinkedIn login?**
No. This Actor reads public data only - no cookies, no account, no browser automation.

**Can I schedule it?**
Yes. Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or via a webhook, and export results as JSON, CSV or Excel.

**What if I need a slightly different output?**
Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab describing the shape you need.

LinkedIn profile URLs of the executives, prospects, or accounts you want to watch for new posts.
