# LinkedIn Hiring Pulse (`data-slayer/linkedin-hiring-pulse`) Actor

Spot the accounts in a buying window. Enter LinkedIn company URLs; the Actor reads LinkedIn's own headcount and hiring trends, open roles by function, median tenure, and alumni counts, then returns a hiring-pulse score per account. No cookies, no login.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## LinkedIn Hiring Pulse

Spot the accounts that are in a buying window — before they announce it.

### Watch the demo

YouTube video coming soon.

### What this Actor does

Give it LinkedIn company URLs. The Actor reads LinkedIn's own company insights and returns a hiring-pulse score per account, built from:

- **Headcount growth** — total employees and the change over LinkedIn's reported windows.
- **Hiring trend** — monthly hire counts and whether the most recent month is up, flat, or down.
- **Open roles by function** — where the company is adding headcount right now.
- **Median employee tenure** and **alumni count** — stability and churn context.

Growth means budget, new initiatives, and new decision-makers. This Actor turns that into a ranked account list.

It uses public data only, requires no cookies and no login.

### Input

| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `company_urls` | string\[] | Yes | LinkedIn company page URLs or slugs to score |

Example:

```json
{
  "company_urls": [
    "https://www.linkedin.com/company/example-1",
    "https://www.linkedin.com/company/example-2"
  ]
}
```

### How to use it

1. Paste the accounts you want to watch (a target list, a competitor set, or your pipeline).
2. Click **Start**.
3. Sort by `hiringScore` — the accounts at the top are growing fastest.
4. **Schedule it weekly** to catch the moment an account tips into a buying window.

### Output

One row per company:

```json
{
  "schemaVersion": "1.0",
  "checkedAt": "2026-09-25T10:00:00+00:00",
  "companyUrl": "https://www.linkedin.com/company/globex",
  "companyName": "Globex",
  "companyIndustry": "Software Development",
  "companyHeadcount": "850",
  "totalEmployees": 850,
  "headcountGrowthPct": 12.5,
  "headcountGrowthPeriod": "past 6 months",
  "totalHires": 64,
  "recentHireCount": 14,
  "hiringTrend": "up",
  "totalOpenRoles": 41,
  "openRolesByFunction": [
    { "function": "Engineering", "openRoles": 22 },
    { "function": "Sales", "openRoles": 11 }
  ],
  "topHiringFunction": "Engineering",
  "medianEmployeeTenure": "2.1 years",
  "alumniCount": 310,
  "hiringScore": 84,
  "collectedAt": "2026-09-25T10:00:00+00:00"
}
```

The `OUTPUT` key-value-store record reports companies requested and scored.

### Pricing

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Actor start | $0.05 |
| Company scored | $0.05 |

You pay per company scored. A weekly run over 100 target accounts is about $5.05.

### Common uses

- **Buying-window detection** — growth is the earliest visible signal of new budget.
- **Territory prioritisation** — rank a territory by who is actually expanding.
- **Competitive monitoring** — watch a rival's hiring to read their roadmap.
- **Recruiting intelligence** — see where a company is adding headcount, and in which functions.

### Limits

- Insights are LinkedIn's own reported trends and can lag reality.
- A company LinkedIn does not track well returns thin insights; the row still appears with whatever was available.
- `hiringScore` is a relative ranking aid, not a forecast.
- Open roles are aggregated by function, not individual postings.

### Automation

Run from the Apify API, schedules, or webhooks. Download the same dataset as JSON, CSV, or Excel.

### Feedback and support

Use the Actor's Issues tab for reproducible problems. Include the affected company URLs, but do not include credentials.

### FAQ

**How much does it cost to run this Actor?**
Pricing is listed in the Pricing section above, charged per row returned. You only pay for the rows
the Actor actually produces, so a small test run costs cents.

**Do I need cookies or a LinkedIn login?**
No. This Actor reads public data only - no cookies, no account, no browser automation.

**Can I schedule it?**
Yes. Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or via a webhook, and export results as JSON, CSV or Excel.

**What if I need a slightly different output?**
Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab describing the shape you need.
