# LinkedIn Market Map Builder (`data-slayer/linkedin-market-map-builder`) Actor

Map your whole market from a few seeds. Enter known-good companies or ICP filters; the Actor expands them through LinkedIn's own similar-pages data and ICP search into a segmented, attributed company universe — seeds, lookalikes, and ICP matches — each with firmographics. No cookies, no login.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## LinkedIn Market Map Builder

Map your whole market from a few seeds — not just a company list, a segmented and attributed map.

### Watch the demo

YouTube video coming soon.

### What this Actor does

Give it known-good companies (your customers, closed-won deals, or a competitor's customers) and/or ICP filters. The Actor expands them into a full company universe:

- **Seeds** — the companies you supplied.
- **Lookalikes** — companies LinkedIn itself considers similar to each seed, attributed back to the seed that produced them.
- **ICP matches** — companies matching your industry, headcount, location, and technology filters.

Every row carries firmographics and *why* it is in your market. It uses public data only, requires no cookies and no login.

### Input

| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `seed_company_urls` | string\[] | No | Known-good companies; each is expanded into lookalikes |
| `icp_industry` | string\[] | No | Industries, human-readable (e.g. `Software Development`) |
| `icp_headcount` | string\[] | No | Employee bands: `1-10`, `11-50`, `51-200`, `201-500`, `501-1,000`, `1,001-5,000`, `5,001-10,000`, `10,001+` |
| `icp_location` | string\[] | No | City, region, or country |
| `icp_technology` | string\[] | No | Technologies (e.g. `Salesforce`, `HubSpot`) |
| `include_lookalikes` | boolean | No | Expand each seed via LinkedIn similar pages (default `true`) |
| `max_companies` | integer | No | Hard cap on rows returned — the main cost control (default `200`, 1–1000) |

Provide at least one seed or one ICP filter.

Example:

```json
{
  "seed_company_urls": ["https://www.linkedin.com/company/example"],
  "icp_headcount": ["201-500", "501-1,000"],
  "include_lookalikes": true,
  "max_companies": 200
}
```

### How to use it

1. Paste your best customers (or a competitor's customers) as seeds.
2. Optionally add ICP filters to widen the map.
3. Click **Start**.
4. Work the map: seeds first, then lookalikes, then ICP matches.

### Output

One row per company:

```json
{
  "schemaVersion": "1.0",
  "checkedAt": "2026-09-25T10:00:00+00:00",
  "companyName": "Globex",
  "companyUrl": "https://www.linkedin.com/company/globex",
  "companyIndustry": "Software Development",
  "companyHeadcount": "201-500",
  "companyLocation": "San Francisco, CA",
  "companyType": "Private",
  "companyWebsite": "https://globex.example",
  "segment": "lookalike",
  "seedSource": "Acme Corp",
  "matchReason": "similar to Acme Corp",
  "followers": "12,400",
  "founded": "2014",
  "collectedAt": "2026-09-25T10:00:00+00:00"
}
```

`segment` is `seed`, `lookalike`, or `icp_match`.

The `OUTPUT` key-value-store record reports seeds, filters, companies found, returned, and the segment breakdown.

### Pricing

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Actor start | $0.05 |
| Company mapped | $0.02 |

You pay per company row returned. Expanding 5 seeds into ~200 companies is about $4.05.

### Common uses

- **Best-customer expansion** — find more companies that look like the ones that already buy.
- **Closed-won replication** — turn one win into a target list.
- **Competitor customer base** — map the market around a competitor's customers.
- **TAM building** — size and segment a territory from a handful of seeds.

### Limits

- Lookalikes come from LinkedIn's own similar-pages data; quality tracks the seed you choose.
- A company reachable from two seeds keeps the strongest segment and records both seed sources.
- ICP search returns companies matching the filters, not people.
- `max_companies` caps the output; the run logs when it caps.

### Automation

Run from the Apify API, schedules, or webhooks. Download the same dataset as JSON, CSV, or Excel.

### Feedback and support

Use the Actor's Issues tab for reproducible problems. Include the affected company URLs, but do not include credentials.

### FAQ

**How much does it cost to run this Actor?**
Pricing is listed in the Pricing section above, charged per row returned. You only pay for the rows
the Actor actually produces, so a small test run costs cents.

**Do I need cookies or a LinkedIn login?**
No. This Actor reads public data only - no cookies, no account, no browser automation.

**Can I schedule it?**
Yes. Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or via a webhook, and export results as JSON, CSV or Excel.

**What if I need a slightly different output?**
Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab describing the shape you need.
