## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## LinkedIn Talent Mapper

Map the whole talent market — company-first, so you find the right people even when their profile does not say so.

### Watch the demo

YouTube video coming soon.

### What this Actor does

Give it a role, seniority, function, location, and industry. The Actor returns the people who exist in that market, ranked by a match score that combines seniority with tenure stability.

This is the recruiter's version of a market map: before a brief lands, know exactly who is out there, where they work, and how long they have been there. It uses public data only, requires no cookies and no login.

### Input

| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `job_title` | string | No | Target title (e.g. `Data Engineer`) |
| `keywords` | string | No | Free-text keywords matched in profiles |
| `seniority` | string\[] | No | `cxO`, `vp`, `director`, `manager`, `senior`, `entry` |
| `function` | string\[] | No | e.g. `Engineering`, `Sales`, `Marketing` |
| `location` | string\[] | No | City, region, or country |
| `industry` | string\[] | No | Employer industries |
| `company_headcount` | string\[] | No | Employer size bands (e.g. `51-200`, `201-500`) |
| `max_people` | integer | No | Hard cap on people returned — the main cost control (default `100`, 1–500) |

Provide at least one filter.

Example:

```json
{
  "job_title": "Data Engineer",
  "seniority": ["senior", "manager"],
  "location": ["United Kingdom"],
  "max_people": 100
}
```

### How to use it

1. Set the market filters (title, seniority, location, industry).
2. Click **Start**.
3. Sort by `matchScore` — the top rows are the most senior, most stable people in the market.
4. Read `topCompanies` in the run summary to see where the talent clusters.

### Output

One row per person:

```json
{
  "schemaVersion": "1.0",
  "checkedAt": "2026-09-25T10:00:00+00:00",
  "fullName": "Example Person",
  "jobTitle": "Senior Data Engineer",
  "companyName": "Globex",
  "location": "London, United Kingdom",
  "tenureYears": 3.2,
  "seniorityScore": 50,
  "matchScore": 60,
  "profileUrl": "https://www.linkedin.com/in/example-person",
  "collectedAt": "2026-09-25T10:00:00+00:00"
}
```

The `OUTPUT` key-value-store record reports filters applied, people found and returned, and the top companies.

### Pricing

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Actor start | $0.05 |
| Talent row | $0.03 |

You pay per person returned. A 100-person market map is about $3.05.

### Common uses

- **Market mapping** — know the whole talent pool before a search starts.
- **Candidate sourcing** — build a shortlist by role, seniority, and location.
- **Competitor talent intel** — see where a rival's people sit.
- **Territory and expansion** — find where a skill pool actually lives.

### Limits

- Only people present in the searchable index are returned.
- Seniority is inferred from the title text, not from a verified field.
- `matchScore` is a relative ranking aid built from title and tenure, not a fit assessment.
- Results are capped by `max_people`.

### Automation

Run from the Apify API, schedules, or webhooks. Download the same dataset as JSON, CSV, or Excel.

### Feedback and support

Use the Actor's Issues tab for reproducible problems. Include the filters you used, but do not include credentials.

### FAQ

**How much does it cost to run this Actor?**
Pricing is listed in the Pricing section above, charged per row returned. You only pay for the rows
the Actor actually produces, so a small test run costs cents.

**Do I need cookies or a LinkedIn login?**
No. This Actor reads public data only - no cookies, no account, no browser automation.

**Can I schedule it?**
Yes. Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or via a webhook, and export results as JSON, CSV or Excel.

**What if I need a slightly different output?**
Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab describing the shape you need.
