## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Google Places Search Places Scraper

Search Google Maps places — local businesses, restaurants, hotels, shops and points of interest — by free-text query. Returns name, address, phone, website, rating, review count, opening hours, coordinates, and a sample of recent photos for each result. Optionally bias results by latitude, longitude and zoom level. Each page returns up to 10 places.

### Features

- Real-time Google Places data — results are fetched live at run time, never cached or stale
- No login, cookies, or proxy configuration needed — just provide the input and run
- Each result is pushed as a separate dataset item, exportable as JSON, CSV, or Excel
- Fast: a typical run finishes in seconds

### Input

| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `query` | string | yes | Search keyword (max 500 characters). E.g. `coffee shops brooklyn`, `dentists 90210`, `hilton hotels paris` |
| `pages` | integer | no | Number of pages to fetch and merge. Each page returns up to 10 results |
| `lat` | number | no | Center latitude for geographic bias (provide with `lng`) |
| `lng` | number | no | Center longitude for geographic bias (provide with `lat`) |
| `zoom` | integer | no | Map zoom level. Smaller values widen the search radius (13 ≈ city, 15 ≈ neighborhood, 10 ≈ metro area) |
| `country` | string | no | 2-letter ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 region code |
| `language` | string | no | 2-letter ISO 639-1 language code |

### Pricing

This Actor is billed **per page of results** — **$0.01 per page**.

- Results come in pages. Use the `pages` input to choose how many pages to fetch (1–20); more pages means more results.
- You pay $0.01 for each page you fetch, so `pages: 3` costs **$0.03** and `pages: 1` costs **$0.01**.
- You’re only charged when a run succeeds. Failed runs are free.
