## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## France Product Recalls: RappelConso Alerts & Barcode Check

Get every official French product recall from **RappelConso**, the government recall site run by the DGCCRF with the food (DGAL) and health (DGS) authorities. Food, cosmetics, baby products, toys, appliances, cars and more: about 19,000 notices since 2021, updated several times a day.

### What you can do

- **Check barcodes (EAN/GTIN)**: paste the barcodes of your catalogue or your stock and see which ones were ever recalled, with lots and best-before dates.
- **Monitor recalls**: filter by category, brand, retailer (Carrefour, Leclerc, Lidl…) or keyword (listeria, salmonella, allergen…).
- **Alert mode**: turn on *only new or updated recalls* and schedule the Actor daily. You only get (and pay for) recalls you have not received yet, plus new versions of existing ones.

Useful for retailers, marketplaces, e-commerce sellers, food-safety and compliance teams, insurers and consumer apps.

### Example output

```json
{
  "recallId": "2026-10-0271",
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-28T10:24:41+00:00",
  "productName": "bonbons saveur caramel sans sucres",
  "brand": "carrefour original",
  "category": "alimentation",
  "gtins": ["3560070184200"],
  "batches": [{ "gtin": "3560070184200", "lots": ["6 142"], "dateType": "date de durabilité minimale", "dates": ["2027-05-31"] }],
  "distributors": "carrefour",
  "reason": "mise en évidence de la présence de sulfites non mentionnés sur l’étiquetage",
  "risks": "substances allergisantes non déclarées",
  "consumerActions": ["ne plus consommer", "rapporter le produit au point de vente", "contacter le service consommateur"],
  "compensation": "remboursement",
  "isActive": true,
  "recallNoticeUrl": "https://rappel.conso.gouv.fr/fiche-rappel/23945/interne"
}
```

The last row of each run is a **run summary** with counts, the barcode check (recalled yes/no per barcode) and the source data date.

### Input

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `gtins` | Barcodes to check. Searches the full history unless you set a date. |
| `categories` | food, electrical, vehicles, baby, beauty, home, sports, clothing, communication, other |
| `keywords`, `brands`, `distributors` | Accent-insensitive text filters |
| `sinceDays` / `sinceDate` | Publication window (default: last 30 days; 0 = everything) |
| `onlyActive` | Skip recalls whose procedure has ended |
| `onlyNew` + `stateStoreName` | Alert mode |
| `maxItems` | Cap on delivered (and charged) recalls |

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.002 per recall delivered**. Filtered-out recalls, recalls already seen in alert mode, barcodes with no recall and the summary row are free. Example: checking 1,000 barcodes where 3 were recalled costs $0.006 plus the platform start.

### Source and licence

Data: *RappelConso* (Direction générale de la concurrence, de la consommation et de la répression des fraudes), dataset `rappelconso-v2-gtin-espaces` on [data.economie.gouv.fr](https://data.economie.gouv.fr/explore/dataset/rappelconso-v2-gtin-espaces/), under the [Licence Ouverte / Open Licence v2.0](https://www.etalab.gouv.fr/licence-ouverte-open-licence/) (Etalab). Each row carries the source, the licence and the dataset update date (`sourceDataDate`).
