## Pricing

from $0.80 / 1,000 filings

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEC EDGAR Scraper: 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Form 4 Filings & Full-Text Search

An **SEC EDGAR API alternative** for downloading **SEC filings** by ticker, CIK, form type or full-text query, built on official SEC endpoints.

Pull **SEC EDGAR filings** straight from the official SEC APIs, three ways:

1. **By company**: tickers or CIKs (`AAPL`, `TSLA`, `789019`) → their recent filings, filtered by form type and date.
2. **Full-text search**: any phrase across all EDGAR documents since 2001 (`"going concern"`, `"stablecoin"`, `"material weakness"`).
3. **Market-wide feed**: leave input empty → the latest 8-K filings from the last 3 days, for every company.

### Why use it

- 📄 Every form: 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K (with item numbers), S-1, Form 4, 13F-HR, DEF 14A...
- 🔗 Direct **document URL** and **filing index URL** for each filing, plus period, acceptance time, SIC, state.
- 🔎 Full-text search the big Actors don't offer, with form + date filters.
- ✅ Official SEC endpoints with fair-access rate limiting (no blocks, no proxies, no API key).
- 💸 Pay only for filings returned: no results = no charge.

### Use cases

Event-driven trading signals (8-K alerts) · due diligence · insider trading monitoring (Form 4) · compliance & risk keyword monitoring · feeding LLM / RAG pipelines with filings.

### Input examples

```json
{ "companies": ["AAPL", "NVDA"], "formTypes": ["10-K", "10-Q"], "lastDays": 365 }
```

```json
{ "searchQuery": "\"material weakness\"", "formTypes": ["10-K"], "dateFrom": "2026-01-01", "maxResults": 500 }
```

### Output example

```json
{ "cik": "0000320193", "companyName": "Apple Inc.", "ticker": "AAPL", "form": "10-Q", "filingDate": "2026-08-01", "reportDate": "2026-06-27", "accessionNumber": "0000320193-26-000071", "documentUrl": "https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/320193/.../aapl-20260627.htm", "filingIndexUrl": "https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/320193/.../0000320193-26-000071-index.htm", "items": null, "sic": "3571" }
```

### Pricing

Pay-per-event: **$1.00 per 1,000 filings** + $0.005 per run (only when results exist).

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

This Actor works as a tool for AI agents through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com). Add it to Claude (Desktop/Code), ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP client with this URL:

`https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=datadesk-io/sec-edgar-filings`

Sign in with your Apify account (OAuth) or pass your API token. The agent sees the input schema, runs the Actor and reads the dataset; every input field is optional and every output field is documented.

**What goes in → what comes out:** Input: tickers/CIKs, a full-text search query, or form types (8-K, 10-K, 10-Q) for market-wide latest filings. Output: one JSON row per SEC EDGAR filing: company, form, filing/report dates, 8-K items, document and index URLs. Official SEC APIs.

**Example prompt:**

> Get the latest 8-K filings for AAPL, TSLA and NVDA and tell me what each one is about.
