## Pricing

Pay per event

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bluesky Scraper: search posts, scrape accounts and profiles, no login

**Search Bluesky posts by keyword or hashtag, pull any account's posts and profile, read a post with its replies, or find profiles by keyword, into JSON, CSV or Excel.** Each post has its text, time, author, likes, reposts, replies, quotes, language, hashtags, links, images and quoted post. Each profile has bio and follower, following and post counts. No Bluesky account, no API key, no browser.

**Price: $1 per 1,000 posts** ($0.001 per post) and **$2 per 1,000 profiles** ($0.002 each), no start fee. See Pricing below.

### Why use this one

- **Four jobs in one Actor:** keyword search, account timelines, single posts with replies, and profile search.
- **Time windows.** `since` and `until` accept dates or phrases like `7 days`, so a scheduled run picks up only new posts.
- **Counts included.** Like, repost, reply and quote counts are in every row, and `searchSort: top` ranks by engagement.
- **A bad handle does not sink the run.** A missing account or deleted post is reported and skipped; rate limits are waited out.
- **Honest limit:** without a Bluesky login, Bluesky caps a search at 100 posts per query. Split a query into time windows with `since` and `until`, or add your own app password to go deeper. Account timelines are not capped this way.

### Minimal input

```json
{"searchQueries": ["openai"], "since": "7 days", "maxPostsPerQuery": 50}
```

### Sample output row (real platform run, shortened)

### What does Bluesky Scraper do?

Each row lands in the Apify dataset, exportable as JSON, CSV or Excel or readable through the API. Typical uses:

- **Brand and topic monitoring.** Search a keyword, hashtag or phrase and get the newest or most engaged posts.
- **Social listening and sentiment.** Collect posts and their like, repost and reply counts for analysis.
- **Influencer and audience research.** Find accounts by keyword and rank them by followers.
- **Competitor tracking.** Pull the recent posts of any account on a schedule with `since`.
- **Datasets for AI and RAG.** Clean multilingual post text with language tags, links and thread context.
- **Thread archiving.** Save a post and its replies before they change.

### Output

Two row types share the dataset, told apart by `type`. Every row carries `scrapedAt` and `input`, the query, handle or URL it came from.

**Post row (`type: "post"`)**

```json
{
  "type": "post",
  "uri": "at://did:plc:3zimrx3czphilwo56dd3y2v5/app.bsky.feed.post/3mxgpqdo4ly23",
  "cid": "bafyrei...",
  "url": "https://bsky.app/profile/fabian-maume.bsky.social/post/3mxgpqdo4ly23",
  "text": "A partial crawl can delete half your RAG index without an error. ...",
  "createdAt": "2026-10-09T10:00:54.892Z",
  "author": {"did": "did:plc:3zimrx3czphilwo56dd3y2v5", "handle": "fabian-maume.bsky.social", "displayName": "Fabian Maume", "avatar": "https://cdn.bsky.app/..."},
  "likeCount": 0, "repostCount": 0, "replyCount": 0, "quoteCount": 0,
  "langs": ["en"],
  "links": ["https://blog.apify.com/llamaindex-rag-web-data/"],
  "mentions": [], "hashtags": [],
  "embedType": "external",
  "images": [], "video": null,
  "externalLink": {"url": "https://blog.apify.com/llamaindex-rag-web-data/", "title": "Keep your LlamaIndex RAG app fresh", "description": "..."},
  "quotedPost": null,
  "isReply": false, "replyToUri": null, "rootUri": null,
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-09T10:05:00+00:00",
  "input": "apify"
}
```

`embedType` is `images`, `video`, `external`, `quote` or `quoteWithMedia`. `mentions` are DIDs. `images` entries are `{url, thumb, alt}`; `quotedPost` is `{uri, url, text, authorHandle}`.

**Profile row (`type: "profile"`)**: `did`, `handle`, `displayName`, `description`, `followersCount`, `followsCount`, `postsCount`, `createdAt`, `avatar`, `banner`, `verified`, `url`.

### Pricing

Pay per result, no start fee:

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Post | $0.001 ($1 per 1,000) |
| Profile | $0.002 ($2 per 1,000) |

Example: 5 search queries at 100 posts each plus 20 handles with profiles and 100 posts each costs 2,500 posts ($2.50) plus 20 profiles ($0.04) = $2.54. Your caps (`maxPostsPer...`) are your cost caps, and Apify's max total charge stops the run when you set it.

### Use it from n8n, Make, Zapier or an AI agent

Actor ID: `datagleaner/bluesky-scraper`

Minimal input:

```
{"searchQueries": ["apify"], "maxPostsPerQuery": 10}
```

Each tool below runs this Actor with your own Apify API token.

- **n8n:** add the **Apify** node (`@apify/n8n-nodes-apify`). On n8n Cloud you install it from the community node registry. Choose **Run an Actor and get dataset**, set Actor to `datagleaner/bluesky-scraper` and paste the input above.
- **Make:** use the Apify app's **Run an Actor** module, then **Get Dataset Items** to read the results. **Watch Actor Runs** can trigger a scenario when a run finishes.
- **Zapier:** use the Apify action **Run Actor**, then the search **Fetch dataset items**. The trigger **Finished Actor run** starts a Zap when a run ends.
- **AI agents (MCP):** connect to `https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=datagleaner/bluesky-scraper`. Without a token, an agent can still find Actors with the `search-actors` tool, but running this one needs your Apify account. In Claude Code:

  ```
    claude mcp add --transport http apify "https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=datagleaner/bluesky-scraper"
  ```

  Then run `/mcp` to sign in to Apify in your browser. Then ask in plain language, for example: "Use the Bluesky scraper to get the 50 newest Bluesky posts mentioning apify, and summarise in English what people ask for most, with the like counts."
- **LangChain (Python):**

```python
## pip install langchain-apify, then set APIFY_TOKEN in your environment
import json
from langchain_apify import ApifyActorsTool
tool = ApifyActorsTool("datagleaner/bluesky-scraper")
result = tool.invoke({"run_input": json.loads('{"searchQueries": ["apify"], "maxPostsPerQuery": 10}')})
```

### FAQ

**What happens if I start it with no input?** It runs a small built-in example: the 5 newest posts from the account `bsky.app`, without the profile row, billed as 5 posts, and the status message says so. Any input you give replaces the example.

**Do I need a Bluesky account?** No. Everything except searching past the first page works with no login.

**Why is search limited to 100 posts per query?** Bluesky's public API answers a search with no login but refuses to page further (it replies 403 to a cursor). To go deeper without a login, split the query into time windows with `since` and `until` and run each as its own query, or add your own `blueskyHandle` and an **app password** (bsky.app/settings/app-passwords, never your main password): the Actor then searches through your own account, which pages freely, and the password is used only for that. Handles, posts and profiles are not affected by this limit.

**Does it respect rate limits?** Yes: a polite default pause, exponential backoff with `retry-after` support, and a single request at a time.

**Is replies' order guaranteed?** Replies are returned nearest first (breadth first), up to `maxRepliesPerPost`.

**Are reposts included for handles?** No, only the account's own posts (and replies if you turn them on); a repost is another account's post.

### Responsible use

Only public Bluesky data is collected. Posts and profiles can contain personal data; your use of it, including consent, retention and platform terms, is your responsibility. Do not use the data for harassment or to re-identify people.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Keywords or phrases to search posts for. Supports quotes for phrases, #hashtags and Lucene-style terms. Anonymous search returns up to 100 posts per query; add your own Bluesky login below to page further.

## `handles` (type: `array`):

Accounts to read: handles (bsky.app, @bsky.app), DIDs, or profile links (https://bsky.app/profile/bsky.app). Returns each account's recent posts, newest first, plus its profile.

## `postUrls` (type: `array`):

Individual posts, as https://bsky.app/profile/<handle>/post/<id> links. Turn on 'Include replies to post URLs' to also get the replies.

## `profileSearchQueries` (type: `array`):

Keywords to search accounts by (name, handle or bio). Returns profiles with follower counts.

## `maxPostsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Upper bound on posts returned for each search query. Anonymous search is capped at 100 by Bluesky.

## `maxPostsPerHandle` (type: `integer`):

Upper bound on posts returned for each handle, newest first.

## `maxProfilesPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Upper bound on profiles returned for each profile search query.

## `searchSort` (type: `string`):

Latest returns the newest posts first; top returns the most engaged posts first.

## `searchLanguage` (type: `string`):

Optional. Only posts in this language, as a two-letter code such as en, ja, pt.

## `searchAuthor` (type: `string`):

Optional. Limit the search to posts by one handle, for example bsky.app.

## `since` (type: `string`):

Optional. Applies to searches and handles. A date or datetime such as 2026-10-01 or 2026-10-01T12:00:00Z, or a relative time such as 7 days, 12 hours, 2 weeks.

## `until` (type: `string`):

Optional. Applies to searches and handles. Same formats as 'Only posts since'.

## `includeReplies` (type: `boolean`):

For handles: also return the replies the account wrote to other people. Off returns only its top-level posts.

## `includeProfile` (type: `boolean`):

For handles: also return one profile item per handle (display name, bio, follower, following and post counts). Billed as one profile event per handle.

## `includeThreadReplies` (type: `boolean`):

For post URLs: also return the replies under each post (nearest first). Each reply is billed as a post.

## `maxRepliesPerPost` (type: `integer`):

Upper bound on replies returned for each post URL when replies are on.

## `blueskyHandle` (type: `string`):

Optional. Only needed to search beyond the first 100 posts per query. Bluesky allows anonymous search for one page only, so paging runs through your own account. Use an app password, never your main password.

## `blueskyAppPassword` (type: `string`):

Optional. Create one at bsky.app/settings/app-passwords. Used only to search for your queries; never stored in the results.

## `requestDelaySeconds` (type: `number`):

Base pause between requests to Bluesky; the actual pause is randomised up to 1.4x. Raise it if Bluesky answers with rate limits (HTTP 429).

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. The default is no proxy, which works from Apify's servers.
