## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## France Company Search & Emails: SIREN, NAF code, new companies, legal form

Search French companies in the official **Sirene** business register by NAF activity code, département, postal code, creation date, legal form and size, and get SIREN, SIRET, address, employee band, VAT number and status for each one. No login, no API key, no browser: it reads the register's own open API, which is built for programmatic use.

It is made for people who need company lists, not one-off lookups: agencies and accountants prospecting a sector in a département, sales teams building a list of SAS and SARL in a NAF code, analysts counting new companies by area, and anyone who needs SIREN numbers to enrich a CRM.

### What you get

- **Register data per company:** SIREN, head-office SIRET, name and legal name, legal form (SAS, SARL, SA, SCI and more), NAF code (2008 and 2025), creation date, active or ceased, address, postal code, city, département, region, coordinates, company category (PME, ETI, GE), employee band, number of establishments, VAT number and a link to the register page.
- **Filters:** NAF codes, départements, postal codes, legal forms, size category, employee bands, status, creation date range and a free-text name or address query.
- **Website and email lookup is switched off for now.** It returns after our contact enrichment is reviewed. The Actor returns register data about companies only: no officers, no sole traders.

### Responsible use: who is looked up and who is not

- **Companies that opted out are never returned.** A large share of Sirene records (a third of restaurants in the Rhône, 9 in 10 of companies registered in 2026 in our samples) carry an opposition to commercial prospecting use of their data under GDPR article 21(2), and some records are non-diffusible. They are left out of the results entirely (`onlyProspectable` is on by default), so you are neither billed for them nor handed a list you could not lawfully prospect.
- **Sole traders and officers are never returned.** An *entrepreneur individuel* is a natural person and its registered address is often a home. The register's officer names are not output either.
- **Only incorporated bodies** (SAS, SARL, SA, SCI and the like) go to the email lookup, plus companies that are still active and fully diffusible.
- **Generic company mailboxes only.** When the lookup is on, only addresses such as contact@, accueil@ or commercial@ are returned. Named addresses (jean.dupont@, jean@), addresses naming one person's role (gerant@, directeur@, pdg@), consumer mail (orange.fr, sfr.fr), mobile numbers (06, 07) and foreign numbers are removed, and `privacyNotice` says so. Our filter can be wrong: if a mailbox reaches one person, stop emailing it.
- The data is the public register under the French Licence Ouverte. Your own obligations (GDPR, ePrivacy, the right to object, keeping lists current) rest with you.

### Input example

```json
{
  "nafCodes": ["62.01Z"],
  "departements": ["69"],
  "legalForms": ["SAS", "SARL"],
  "createdFrom": "2025-01-01",
  "maxItems": 100
}
```

Leave the input empty to get a built-in example of 5 companies (SAS in NAF 62.01Z, based in Paris, register data only).

Notes on the filters:

- The register API has **no creation-date filter**, so `createdFrom` and `createdTo` are applied while the Actor reads result pages. Pair a date range with a NAF code, département or postal code so the search stays under the API's ceiling of 10,000 results per search. Reading pages is free; the status message says how many were read and whether the ceiling was reached.
- The API's département and postal code filters also match companies that merely have a branch there. By default only companies with their **head office** in the area are kept; switch off *Head office in area* to include branches' parents.
- NAF codes are the NAF 2008 list the register accepts, such as `62.01Z`. `6201Z` also works.

### Output example

```json
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription.

| Event | Price | When |
|---|---|---|
| Company | $0.005 | each company row returned |
| Company with email | $0.004 | not charged while the website and email lookup is switched off |

Worked examples:

- 1 company, no contacts: $0.005.
- Empty input (5-company example): $0.025.
- 100 companies, no contacts: $0.50.
- 50 companies with contacts, websites found for 40 and emails for 25: 50 x $0.005 + 25 x $0.004 + 40 x $0.0008 + 25 x $0.002 = $0.25 + $0.10 + $0.032 + $0.05 = **$0.432**.

Set a maximum charge on the run to cap the Actor's own events; the sub-runs are capped separately at the number of websites sent x their price. `maxContactCompanies` bounds the lookup.

### Limits

- 10,000 results per search is the register API's ceiling; split larger areas by NAF code or postal code.
- The API allows 7 requests a second per address. The Actor stays under it and honours its `Retry-After` header; if the API keeps refusing, the run ends with the rows it has and says so in its status message.
- Non-diffusible and partially diffusible records are hidden or masked by the register itself.
- Small French companies often have no website of their own. Websites are found by matching names and places, so expect roughly a third of looked-up companies to get one and fewer to publish an email; companies with no match are free in the lookups and carry a `contactsNote`. Each match has a `domainConfidence`; raise **Minimum website confidence** for precision.

### FAQ

**Is this allowed?** The Actor calls the register's documented open API within its published rate limit, and the website step respects each site's robots.txt.

**Why are so many companies missing?** Because many companies have opted out of commercial prospecting use of their register data, especially recent registrations. They are skipped on purpose.

**Do you return personal data?** Company data only. Officers and sole traders are not returned.

**Can I get only newly created companies?** Yes: set `createdFrom` with a NAF code or area. Pages are filtered after they are read, so keep the search narrow.

### Purpose limit

The data is for building lists of companies (legal entities), market sizing and CRM enrichment. It is not for tracing, profiling or contacting individuals. Do not use it for cold outreach to a company that opted out of prospecting.

### Removal requests

If a record concerns you or your company and you want it excluded, email **datagleaner@gmail.com** (Keencrest, the publisher; replies come from an AI agent, Crest, and the business is owner-operated) with the SIREN or the website domain. We add it to the Actor's exclusion list (`src/optout_dids.txt`, loaded at the start of every run) within 30 days, answer you, and keep a dated record of the request and our answer. Corrections to the register itself go to INSEE or the register's own channels.

# Actor input Schema

## `query` (type: `string`):

Optional text search over company names and addresses, or an exact 9-digit SIREN or 14-digit SIRET. Leave empty to filter only by the fields below.

## `nafCodes` (type: `array`):

Optional. Main-activity codes in the NAF 2008 list that the register API accepts, e.g. `62.01Z` (software), `56.10A` (restaurants), `43.22A` (plumbing), `69.20Z` (accounting). `6201Z` without the dot also works. Several codes are OR-ed.

## `departements` (type: `array`):

Optional. Département codes, e.g. `75`, `69`, `2A`, `971`. By default only companies whose head office is in the area are kept (see Head office in area).

## `postalCodes` (type: `array`):

Optional. Five-digit postal codes, e.g. `75008`. Takes precedence over départements for the head-office check.

## `legalForms` (type: `array`):

Optional. `SAS`, `SASU`, `SARL`, `EURL`, `SA`, `SCI`, `SCOP`, `ASSOCIATION`, or an INSEE 4-digit legal category code such as `5710`. Empty means every legal form except sole traders, which are never returned.

## `createdFrom` (type: `string`):

Optional date `YYYY-MM-DD`. The register API has no date filter, so this is applied while reading result pages: pair it with a NAF code, département or postcode so the search stays under the API's 10,000-result ceiling.

## `createdTo` (type: `string`):

Optional date `YYYY-MM-DD`, see Created on or after.

## `status` (type: `string`):

Active companies by default.

## `companyCategories` (type: `array`):

Optional. `PME`, `ETI` or `GE` (INSEE company category).

## `employeeBands` (type: `array`):

Optional. INSEE employee band codes: `01` (1-2), `02` (3-5), `03` (6-9), `11` (10-19), `12` (20-49), `21` (50-99), `22` (100-199) and so on.

## `headOfficeInArea` (type: `boolean`):

The API's département and postcode filters also match companies that only have a branch there. On (default), only companies whose head office is in the area are kept.

## `onlyProspectable` (type: `boolean`):

On by default. A large share of Sirene records (a third to nine in ten, highest for recent registrations) carry an opposition to commercial prospecting use (GDPR article 21(2)); the field is `prospectingOptOut`. Those records and non-diffusible ones are never output; this switch also drops ceased companies.

## `findContacts` (type: `boolean`):

Switched off for now: the website and email lookup returns after our contact enrichment is reviewed. Setting it has no effect; the run returns register data only and says so in its status message.

## `minDomainConfidence` (type: `number`):

Only with Find website and email. A company's website is accepted (and billed by the website finder) only at or above this confidence. 0.8 and above is high; raise it for precision, lower it to 0.3 to see more guesses.

## `maxContactCompanies` (type: `integer`):

Only used with Find website and email. At most this many companies are sent to the lookups; the rest come back with a note.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many companies (100 when empty). You pay per company returned.

## `maxPagesScanned` (type: `integer`):

Each page is 25 records, 400 is the API's ceiling. Reading pages is free; a date range or head-office check may need many pages to find enough matches.

## `requestDelaySecs` (type: `number`):

Seconds between requests to the register API. The API allows 7 requests a second per IP; 0.16 is the floor.
