## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Fast Bulk Screenshots: Website Screenshot API

Take screenshots of hundreds of web pages in one run. You get real full-page captures (lazy-loaded images included) on desktop, tablet or mobile, saved as PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Cookie banners are hidden and ads are blocked, so the page looks clean. Call it from the Apify Console, the API, Make, Zapier or n8n, or from an AI agent through Apify's MCP server.

**You only pay for screenshots that succeed.** Pages that fail, time out or are blocked cost nothing.

### Features

| | Fast Bulk Screenshots |
| --- | --- |
| Many URLs in one run | Yes, captured in parallel in one browser |
| Full page that really works | Scrolls first so lazy-loaded images and sections appear |
| Device presets | 15 presets: desktop (1440, Full HD, QHD, MacBook Retina), laptop, iPad, iPad mini, iPad Pro, Android tablet, iPhone, iPhone SE, iPhone Pro Max, Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, or any custom size |
| Formats | PNG, JPEG, WebP (smallest files), PDF (A4) |
| Capture one element | Screenshot just `#pricing`, `header`, `main` or any CSS selector |
| Cookie and consent pop-ups | Hidden automatically (OneTrust, Cookiebot, Didomi, Quantcast and more) |
| Ads and trackers | Blocked for faster, cleaner captures |
| Dark mode | Optional |
| Failed pages | Free, with the error message in the output |

### Pricing

| What | Price |
| --- | --- |
| Successful screenshot | $2.00 per 1,000 ($0.002 each) |
| Failed, timed-out or blocked page (HTTP 4xx/5xx) | Free |
| Run start | $0.00005 per run |
| Apify platform usage | Billed by Apify as usual. In our tests, about $0.85 per 1,000 full-page mobile screenshots. Simple pages cost less, heavy pages more. |

Capturing many pages in one run is much cheaper than one run per page, because the browser starts only once. You can set a maximum cost per run, and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### How to use it

1. Paste your URLs (one per line). `https://` is added if missing.
2. Pick a device and format. Leave **Full page** on to capture the whole page.
3. Click **Start**. Each screenshot is saved to the run's key-value store, and the dataset lists every URL with a direct link to its image.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "urls": ["https://apify.com", "https://news.ycombinator.com"],
  "device": "iphone-pro-max",
  "fullPage": true,
  "format": "webp"
}
```

Capture only one part of the page:

```json
{
  "urls": ["https://apify.com/pricing"],
  "device": "desktop-hd",
  "selector": "main",
  "format": "png"
}
```

#### Example output (one dataset item per URL)

```json
{
  "index": 1,
  "url": "https://apify.com/",
  "status": "ok",
  "finalUrl": "https://apify.com/",
  "httpStatus": 200,
  "title": "Apify: Full-stack web scraping and data extraction platform",
  "screenshotKey": "0001-apify-com.webp",
  "screenshotUrl": "https://api.apify.com/v2/key-value-stores/<storeId>/records/0001-apify-com.webp",
  "format": "webp",
  "bytes": 245213,
  "durationMs": 3120
}
```

Failed pages look like `{"url": "...", "status": "failed", "error": "net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED ..."}` and are not charged. If a CSS selector matches nothing, the page is reported as failed and is not charged.

### Use it from AI agents (MCP)

AI agents such as Claude, Cursor or VS Code Copilot can call this Actor as a tool through [Apify's MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/mcp). The agent sends a list of URLs and gets back screenshot URLs it can open or pass on.

Remote server (sign in to Apify in your browser on first use):

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=dataloomer/fast-bulk-screenshots
```

Or run it locally in your MCP client config:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "apify": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@apify/actors-mcp-server", "--tools", "dataloomer/fast-bulk-screenshots"],
      "env": { "APIFY_TOKEN": "<your Apify API token>" }
    }
  }
}
```

Then ask your agent something like: *"Take full-page mobile screenshots of these three landing pages and show me the links."*

### Use it from the API

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/dataloomer~fast-bulk-screenshots/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<YOUR_TOKEN>" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"urls": ["https://apify.com"], "device": "mobile", "format": "jpeg"}'
```

### Common uses

- **Website monitoring and archiving:** schedule a daily run to keep a visual history of pages.
- **Competitor tracking:** capture pricing and landing pages every week.
- **QA and responsive design checks:** see how pages look on iPhone, Android, iPad and desktop in one go.
- **Reports and proposals:** drop clean, banner-free screenshots or PDFs into documents.
- **AI agents and automations:** give an agent "eyes" on a web page, or call it from Make, Zapier or n8n and get back an image URL.

### Tips

- Very long pages are cut at 15,000 device pixels tall (marked `"truncated": true`).
- For heavy JavaScript apps, set **Wait until** to *Network idle* or add an **Extra wait**.
- If a site blocks data-center traffic, turn on a proxy in the **Proxy** field.
- WebP and JPEG files are about 5–10× smaller than PNG for photo-heavy pages.

### Feedback

Found a page that doesn't capture well? Open an issue on the **Issues** tab with the URL and your settings, and it will be looked at quickly.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Web pages to capture. One screenshot per URL. "https://" is added if missing.

## `device` (type: `string`):

Screen size and type to emulate. Phone and tablet presets use a mobile browser identity (iOS or Android) and a 2× retina pixel ratio.

## `fullPage` (type: `boolean`):

Capture the whole page top to bottom (scrolls first so lazy-loaded images appear). Off = only what fits on screen. Very long pages are cut at 16,000 px.

## `format` (type: `string`):

Image or PDF output. WebP is usually the smallest file at similar quality.

## `jpegQuality` (type: `integer`):

1–100. Only used for JPEG and WebP.

## `selector` (type: `string`):

Optional. Screenshot only the first element matching this CSS selector, for example "#pricing", "header" or "main". If nothing matches, the page is reported as failed and not charged.

## `hideCookieBanners` (type: `boolean`):

Hides common consent pop-ups (OneTrust, Cookiebot, Didomi, Quantcast and more) and chat bubbles so they don't cover the page.

## `blockAds` (type: `boolean`):

Faster loading and cleaner screenshots.

## `darkMode` (type: `boolean`):

Ask the site for its dark theme, if it has one.

## `waitUntil` (type: `string`):

When the page counts as loaded. "Network idle" is best for heavy JavaScript apps but slower.

## `delayMs` (type: `integer`):

Wait this long after loading before capturing, for animations or late content.

## `viewportWidth` (type: `integer`):

Optional. Overrides the device width.

## `viewportHeight` (type: `integer`):

Optional. Overrides the device height.

## `timeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Give up on a page after this many seconds. Failed pages are not charged.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many pages to capture at once. 4 works well at 2 GB memory.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. Use a proxy for sites that block data-center traffic.
