## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Craigslist Scraper & New Listings Monitor

Search **Craigslist in many cities, or a whole country, in a single run**, for anything: items for sale, cars, apartments, rooms, jobs, gigs and services. Get clean data with price, neighborhood, GPS coordinates, photos, full description and attributes (make, model, condition, size...).

- **Many cities at once:** `new york`, `sfbay`, `toronto`, or a country code like `US` to cover every Craigslist city in the country.
- **No 360-result cap:** Craigslist shows max 360 results per search. Turn on *Get all results* and the Actor splits the search by price ranges to collect everything (e.g. 10,000+ listings).
- **Monitor mode:** schedule it every hour or every day and get **only new listings**. Perfect for deal alerts, flipping and lead generation.
- **Paste your own search URLs** with all your Craigslist filters, as-is.
- Fast and reliable: uses Craigslist's own JSON endpoints, with no browser and no proxies.

### Use cases

- **Resellers and flippers:** alerts for underpriced items (bikes, electronics, furniture, cars) the moment they are posted.
- **Car dealers:** track private-party car prices across many cities.
- **Real estate and rentals:** rental price research, new apartment listings by neighborhood.
- **Lead generation:** new "services" and "gigs" posts by city.
- **Market research and AI agents:** clean JSON ready for analysis.

### Input example

{
    "locations": ["new york", "boston", "philadelphia"],

    "query": "toyota tacoma",
    "minPrice": 5000,
    "maxPrice": 25000,
    "includeDetails": true,
    "onlyNewListings": true
}
```
Categories include: all for sale, cars & trucks, motorcycles, boats, bicycles, furniture, electronics, computers, cell phones, video gaming, appliances, tools, musical instruments, clothing, sporting goods, antiques, free stuff, housing, apartments, rooms, sublets, real estate, jobs, gigs, services, community and events.
### Output example
    "priceText": "$180",
    "currency": "USD",
    "url": "https://www.craigslist.org/view/d/berkeley-trek-730-multitrack-hybrid/xzaAKta21iaJbB6TzycY2A",
    "area": "SF bay area",
    "subarea": "eby",
    "neighborhood": "berkeley",
    "country": "US",
    "latitude": 37.8696,
    "longitude": -122.2959,
    "description": "Classic steel hybrid in great shape...",
    "attributes": [{ "label": "condition", "value": "good" }, { "label": "frame size", "value": "15.5\"" }],
    "search": "SF bay area"
}
```

`description`, `attributes`, `streetAddress` and high-resolution `images` are added when **Include full description** is on.

### Pricing

Pay per listing returned, with no monthly fee. Searches with no results cost nothing. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops on its own when it gets there.

### FAQ

**Can I get contact emails or phone numbers?** No. Craigslist hides contact details behind anonymized relays, and this Actor does not collect personal data.

**How often should I run monitor mode?** Every 15–60 minutes for hot categories (cars, bikes, free stuff); daily for housing research.

**Is it legal?** It reads public listings that anyone can see without logging in. Respect Craigslist's terms and do not spam posters.
