## Pricing

from $0.75 / 1,000 instagram comments

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Collect recent public comments from Instagram posts and Reels without providing a login, cookies, or an Instagram account. Submit public URLs or shortcodes and receive one structured Dataset row per unique delivered comment, with author, text, timing, likes, reply counts, and source-post context.

### What this Actor does

The Actor processes public Instagram post and Reel references, paginates comments in recent order, and deduplicates both submitted posts and comment IDs. It creates a free per-post report for completed, invalid, duplicate, unavailable, or stalled inputs, while the Dataset contains only successfully delivered comments.

### Use cases

- Analyze audience sentiment and recurring discussion themes.
- Monitor public responses to campaigns, creators, products, or announcements.
- Export comments for moderation review, reporting, or research.

### How to use

1. Open the Actor in Apify Console.
2. Add at least one public post/Reel URL or shortcode.
3. Set the total and per-post comment limits.
4. Click **Start** and open the Dataset when the run finishes.

### Input

`posts` is required and accepts 1–10,000 public post or Reel URLs and shortcodes. Duplicate posts are skipped. `resultsLimit` is the maximum number of unique comments across the run and defaults to 1,000; `maxCommentsPerPost` applies independently to each post and also defaults to 1,000. Both limits accept 1–100,000.

Complete input example. This exact input produced the output item below:

```json
{
  "posts": [
    "DbDxyjdDKp1",
    "DbB4is3D0GM",
    "DX7lzTOJ1p6"
  ],
  "resultsLimit": 300,
  "maxCommentsPerPost": 100
}
```

### Output

Each Dataset row is one unique public comment. `gifId` and `gifUrl` preserve GIF content when available; `text` can be null for a GIF-only comment. It includes the comment and post identifiers, normalized URLs, text, creation time, author fields, verification, likes, reply count, edit/translation flags, recent sort order, and collection timestamp. `SUMMARY` contains run-level result, billing, duplicate, traffic, limit, and completion totals. `POST_REPORT` contains one free status entry per submitted post. The summary distinguishes complete and partial collection; unavailable posts do not count as successfully collected.

This is the complete first Dataset item from a real successful run:

Instagram-hosted profile image URLs may expire. Export formats available through Apify include JSON, JSONL, CSV, Excel, XML, and RSS.

### Pricing

One unique comment written to the default Dataset creates one `comment-result` event. Apify selects the unit price from your account tier:

| Apify tier | Price per comment | Price per 1,000 comments |
|---|---:|---:|
| Free | $0.001 | $1.00 |
| Bronze | $0.0009 | $0.90 |
| Silver | $0.0008 | $0.80 |
| Gold | $0.00075 | $0.75 |
| Platinum | $0.00075 | $0.75 |
| Diamond | $0.00075 | $0.75 |

Invalid or duplicate inputs, duplicate comments, posts without available comments, failed requests, summaries, and post-report records are not charged. The default Apify maximum run charge is $1.00; increase it explicitly only when a larger result volume is intended.

### Limits and data quality

A run accepts up to 10,000 post references and returns at most 100,000 comments under either configured limit. The limits are maxima, not guaranteed counts. Instagram controls public availability and ordering; deleted, restricted, private, or unavailable comments cannot be returned. Reply counts describe publicly exposed reply totals, but this Actor delivers top-level comments rather than a separate row for every reply.

### Frequently asked questions

#### Can I submit a shortcode instead of a full URL?

Yes. Public post and Reel shortcodes are accepted and normalized to their canonical Instagram URL.

#### Why did a post produce no Dataset rows?

It may have no publicly available comments, be private or unavailable, hit a temporary access restriction, or be a duplicate input. Inspect `POST_REPORT` for that post's status.

### Responsible use

Use only publicly available comments for lawful purposes. You are responsible for complying with Instagram's terms, privacy and data-protection laws, copyright rules, and the rights of commenters. Avoid harassment, discrimination, unlawful profiling, or retaining unnecessary personal data.

### Support

Open an issue in the Actor's **Issues** tab with the run ID, a reproducible public post URL, the relevant `POST_REPORT` status, and the expected result. Never include credentials or API tokens.
