## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper — articles by keyword or topic, with real publisher URLs

**Google News Scraper** returns Google News articles for any **keyword, topic or site** — title, **source**, **publish time**, snippet and the **real publisher URL** (not Google's redirect link). Time-frame, language, country and site filters. No login, no API key. Export JSON, CSV or Excel.

### What does it do?

Give it search queries (Google operators work) or topics (World, Business, Technology…) and it returns the current Google News results as flat rows. Use it for **news monitoring**, PR and brand tracking, market and competitor research, media datasets and alerting.

### Features

- **Search by keyword** with operators ("exact phrase", -exclude, OR) or **by topic** (WORLD, NATION, BUSINESS, TECHNOLOGY, ENTERTAINMENT, SPORTS, SCIENCE, HEALTH).
- **Time frame** (1h, 1d, 7d, 30d, 1y), **site filter**, **language** and **country** (any Google News edition).
- **Publisher URL resolution** — the actual article link plus source name and source site.
- Sort by relevance or newest; up to 100 articles per query/topic; multiple queries per run.
- **Incremental mode** (`onlyNew`) for scheduled news monitoring; `maxItems` cost cap.

### How to scrape Google News

1. Add **search queries** and/or **topics**.
2. Pick a time frame, language and country.
3. Run and export JSON, CSV or Excel — or call it via the API on a schedule.

### Input

`searchQueries`, `topics`, `timeframe`, `site`, `language`, `country`, `maxItemsPerFeed`, `resolveUrls`, `sortBy`, `maxItems` (default 100), `onlyNew`, `maxConcurrency`, `proxyConfiguration`.

### Example output (real run)

```json
{
  "id": "CBMipgFBVV95cUxOZW5ZaHJXdjBMS3RsR2R5b3NnVmQyeWZhWTZVaVpHMGt3c1Nqa0o0cHZaMVMxX05IdklFb0ZzbFprREtYYTVZcU9Wdnk1Rm…",
  "title": "We asked AI whether it would lead to human extinction in a decade. Here’s what it said",
  "source": "The Independent",
  "sourceUrl": "https://www.independent.co.uk",
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-01T08:26:00+00:00",
  "url": "https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/ai-artificial-intelligence-human-extinction-response-b3049134.html",
  "schemaVersion": 1
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$4 per 1,000 articles** ($0.004 each). Empty feeds and errors are free.

### Use cases

News monitoring and alerts · brand and PR tracking · competitor intelligence · financial and market research · media datasets.

### FAQ

**Do I need an API key?** No.
**Does it return the article text?** No — title, source, time, snippet and URL (use the URL with a content crawler for full text).
**How many articles per query?** Google News exposes up to 100 per feed.

### Limitations

Google News returns up to 100 articles per query/topic. Publisher URL resolution adds one request per article and can occasionally fail (the Google link is always returned). Full article text is not included.

### Google News API alternative

A Google News API alternative: scrape Google News articles by keyword, topic and site, with the real publisher link, as JSON, CSV or Excel.

### Is it legal? No login, no cookies

This Actor only reads **publicly available** pages. It never asks for a cookie, password or account and does not access private data. You are responsible for using the data in line with the source site's terms and applicable law (GDPR/CCPA for personal data).
