## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Website Screenshot Pro — clean screenshots without cookie banners

Take **clean screenshots of any website** in bulk: cookie consent banners, newsletter pop-ups, subscription asks and ads are removed automatically before the capture. Full page or visible area, desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile, **PNG, JPEG or PDF**.

### Why this screenshot tool?

Most screenshot tools capture whatever is on screen — usually a big "Accept cookies" box covering half the page. This Actor:

- ✅ **Removes cookie banners** — clicks "accept" on common consent platforms (OneTrust, Cookiebot, Didomi, Usercentrics, Quantcast, TrustArc, Sourcepoint and generic banners in 15+ languages) and hides what is left.
- ✅ **Removes pop-ups and overlays** — newsletter boxes, "support us" bars, chat bubbles, sticky bottom bars. The site's top navigation is kept.
- ✅ **Blocks ads and trackers** — cleaner images and faster loading.
- ✅ **Loads lazy images** — scrolls through the page first, so full-page captures are not full of grey placeholders.
- ✅ **Real devices** — desktop 1920×1080, laptop 1366×768, iPad Pro, iPhone 15, or any custom size.
- ✅ **PNG, JPEG or PDF**, full page or viewport, single element via CSS selector, dark mode.
- ✅ **Pay only for screenshots that worked** — failed pages are listed with the reason, but never charged.

### Use cases

- Website monitoring and visual archives (compliance, legal evidence, competitor tracking)
- Thumbnails and previews for directories, link lists and dashboards
- SEO and marketing reports, landing-page swipe files
- QA: check how pages look on mobile and desktop
- Feeding page images to AI / vision models

### How to use

1. Paste one or more URLs (or upload a list).
2. Choose format, device and whether you want the full page.
3. Click **Start**. Each screenshot appears in the results table with a direct download link.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "urls": [{ "url": "https://www.theguardian.com" }, { "url": "https://www.zalando.de" }],
  "format": "png",
  "fullPage": true,
  "device": "desktop",
  "removeCookieBanners": true,
  "removePopups": true
}
```

#### Output example (real run)

```json
{
  "url": "https://www.theguardian.com",
  "finalUrl": "https://www.theguardian.com/us",
  "title": "Latest news, sport and opinion from the Guardian",
  "statusCode": 200,
  "screenshotUrl": "https://api.apify.com/v2/key-value-stores/pBH7Vqsl6n5vObzOd/records/screenshot-94bea52074-0.jpg",
  "key": "screenshot-94bea52074-0.jpg",
  "format": "jpeg",
  "device": "desktop",
  "bytes": 217175,
  "popupsRemoved": 1,
  "error": null
}
```

The image files are stored in the run's key-value store; `screenshotUrl` is a direct link. Export the table as JSON, CSV or Excel, or use the API.

### Pricing

Pay per successful screenshot: **$0.005 per screenshot ($5 per 1,000)**, any format and size. Failed or blocked pages cost nothing. Platform usage is included.

### Tips

- **Site blocks the request (HTTP 403)?** Turn on the proxy option (residential proxies work for most protected sites).
- **Animations or late content?** Increase "Extra wait before capture" or use "network idle".
- **Just one part of the page?** Put a CSS selector into "Capture only this element", e.g. `#pricing`.
- **Want the page exactly as visitors see it, banner included?** Switch off banner and pop-up removal.

### FAQ

**Is it legal to take screenshots of websites?** Capturing publicly visible pages is generally fine; how you use the images (copyright, trademarks) is your responsibility. Do not capture pages behind logins you are not authorised to use.

**How long are files kept?** As long as your Apify data retention for the run's storage. Download what you need to keep.

**Something does not look right?** Open an issue on the Actor page with the URL — banner rules are updated regularly.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Pages to capture. One screenshot per URL.

## `format` (type: `string`):

Output file type.

## `fullPage` (type: `boolean`):

Capture the whole scrollable page instead of only the visible window.

## `maxHeight` (type: `integer`):

Very long pages are cut at this height. Keeps files small and runs fast. Set 0 for no limit.

## `device` (type: `string`):

Emulated device. 'custom' uses the width/height below.

## `width` (type: `integer`):

Viewport width in pixels, used when Device is "Custom size".

## `height` (type: `integer`):

Viewport height in pixels, used when Device is "Custom size".

## `removeCookieBanners` (type: `boolean`):

Accepts or hides cookie/consent pop-ups (OneTrust, Cookiebot, Didomi, Usercentrics, Quantcast and generic banners).

## `removePopups` (type: `boolean`):

## `blockAds` (type: `boolean`):

Faster loading and cleaner screenshots.

## `scrollToBottom` (type: `boolean`):

Scrolls through the page before capturing so lazy-loaded images appear. Recommended with full page.

## `delay` (type: `integer`):

Wait time after the page has loaded, e.g. for animations.

## `waitUntil` (type: `string`):

When the page counts as loaded before capturing.

## `selector` (type: `string`):

Optional. Screenshot just one element, e.g. '#pricing' or 'main'. Ignored for PDF.

## `hideSelectors` (type: `array`):

Optional. Elements to hide before capture, e.g. chat widgets.

## `darkMode` (type: `boolean`):

Ask the site for its dark color scheme (prefers-color-scheme: dark).

## `jpegQuality` (type: `integer`):

Compression quality for JPEG output (higher = sharper and bigger).

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many pages are captured at the same time.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Use a proxy for sites that block data-center traffic.
