## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Amazon Best Sellers Scraper - Rank Tracker & Movers

Amazon's own **Movers & Shakers** list is often empty ("no Movers & Shakers available in this category"). This Actor gives you the same signal for **any** category: it reads the **Best Sellers** or **New Releases** list and, run after run, tells you each product's **previous rank**, **rank change**, which products are **new** in the list and which **dropped out**.

Works on 20 Amazon marketplaces: US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, Turkey, UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, Japan, Australia, Singapore and Egypt.

### What you get for each product

| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| `rank` | Position in the list now (1–100) |
| `previousRank` | Position in your previous run |
| `rankChange` | Places gained (positive) or lost (negative) |
| `isNewInList` | Not in the list in your previous run |
| `droppedOut` | Extra row for products that left the list (not charged) |
| `asin`, `title`, `url`, `imageUrl` | Product |
| `price`, `priceText`, `rating`, `reviewsCount` | As shown in the list |
| `marketplace`, `list`, `listTitle`, `category`, `scrapedAt` | Context |

Example row from a real run (second run of the day, so no change yet):

```json
{
  "marketplace": "amazon.com",
  "list": "bestsellers",
  "listTitle": "Best Sellers in Kitchen & Dining",
  "rank": 1,
  "previousRank": 1,
  "rankChange": 0,
  "isNewInList": false,
  "asin": "B0BZYCJK89",
  "title": "Owala FreeSip Stainless Steel Water Bottle 24 oz Denim",
  "rating": 4.6,
  "reviewsCount": 141989
}
```

### Who uses it

- **Amazon sellers and product researchers**: spot products climbing a category before everyone else.
- **Brands and agencies**: watch your products and competitors in the top 100 every day.
- **Analysts**: build a daily rank history for any category and marketplace.

### How to use it

1. Paste one or more Best Sellers / New Releases URLs (any category or subcategory), or pick a marketplace and type category paths.
2. Choose top 50 or top 100.
3. **Schedule it** (daily or hourly). Rank changes are computed against the previous run, saved in a key-value store in your own account. Use a different *History store name* to keep separate histories.

Prices and currency follow the visitor's country, so by default the Actor uses a residential proxy in each marketplace's country.

### Pricing

Pay per result: **one charge per product row**. Rows for products that dropped out are free. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### Notes

- Reads only Amazon's public list pages, without logging in. No personal data is collected.
- Ranks are Amazon's, updated by Amazon about every hour.

### Schedule it, use the API or connect it to your tools

- **Schedule** daily or weekly runs in Apify to track rank changes, new entries and drop-outs every day.
- Call it from your code with the **Apify API** (Python, JavaScript or plain HTTP) and get the results as JSON, CSV or Excel.
- Send results to **Google Sheets, Slack, Zapier, Make or a webhook** with Apify integrations.

### Troubleshooting

- **No rank changes in the first run**: changes need a previous run to compare with. Run it again (or schedule it) with the same history store.
- **A category URL returns nothing**: use a Best Sellers or New Releases list URL (`/gp/bestsellers/...` or `/gp/new-releases/...`).

### FAQ

**Which marketplaces work?** The 20 Amazon marketplaces listed in the input, such as amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de and amazon.co.jp.

**Does it read product pages?** No. It reads the public Best Sellers and New Releases lists, which is why it is fast and cheap.

**How do I get "movers and shakers"?** Schedule it daily: each run reports rank change, new entries and products that dropped out since the last run.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Amazon Best Sellers or New Releases URLs, any category or subcategory, any supported marketplace (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/kitchen).

## `marketplace` (type: `string`):

Used with the categories below.

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Category paths as they appear in the list URL, e.g. "kitchen", "electronics" or "kitchen/289814".

## `lists` (type: `array`):

Which lists to read for the categories above.

## `maxRank` (type: `integer`):

Up to 100. Above 50 reads a second page.

## `trackChanges` (type: `boolean`):

Remember this run's ranks in a named key-value store in your account, so the next run reports previous rank, rank change, new entries and drop-outs.

## `includeDropped` (type: `boolean`):

Adds a row (not charged) for each product that was in the list last time and is not anymore.

## `historyStoreName` (type: `string`):

Use different names to keep separate histories.

## `matchProxyCountry` (type: `boolean`):

Prices and currency follow the visitor's country. On by default so amazon.de shows euros, amazon.co.uk pounds, etc.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many pages to fetch in parallel. Lower it if you see blocks.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy used for the requests. The default works for most runs.
