## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Internet Archive Scraper

Search archive.org with every filter and sort from the website, and get item details with every file and its direct download link. Books, videos, audio, software and more. No API key or login needed.

### How to use

Fill in one or both:

- **Search terms**: find items, e.g. `apollo 11` or `creator:NASA`.
- **Item IDs or links**: get full details for specific items, e.g. `nasa_apollo11` or `https://archive.org/details/nasa_apollo11`.

### Sort and filter

The same options as the archive.org search page:

- **Sort by:** Relevance, All-time views, Weekly views, Title, Date published, Date archived, Date reviewed, Creator, plus Top rated, Most reviewed and Largest size.
- **Filters:** Media type, Collections, Creators, Topics and subjects, Languages, Year range, License (public domain or any Creative Commons type), and Only freely downloadable (skips lending-library books).

Sorted searches return up to 10,000 results each, as on archive.org. Choose **No sorting** to collect more, with no limit.

**Example:** public-domain Hindi books from 1920 to 1950 that you can download, most viewed first
Search terms `gandhi`, Media type `Texts and books`, Languages `Hindi`, Years `1920` to `1950`, License `Public domain`, turn on **Only freely downloadable**, Sort by `All-time views`.

### Output example

```json
{
  "identifier": "GulistanByShaykhSaadiFarsiWithUrduTranslation",
  "title": "Gulistan by Shaykh Saadi, Farsi with Urdu translation",
  "creator": "Maulana Qazi Sajjad Hussain",
  "mediaType": "texts",
  "collections": ["booksbylanguage_urdu", "booksbylanguage"],
  "language": "Urdu",
  "subjects": ["Gulistan", "Tasawwuf", "Saadi", "Urdu"],
  "downloads": 262939,
  "weeklyViews": 40,
  "favoritesCount": 71,
  "averageRating": 4.5,
  "reviewsCount": 12,
  "licenseUrl": null,
  "itemSizeBytes": 551641602,
  "detailsUrl": "https://archive.org/details/GulistanByShaykhSaadiFarsiWithUrduTranslation",
  "thumbnailUrl": "https://archive.org/services/img/GulistanByShaykhSaadiFarsiWithUrduTranslation"
}
```

With item IDs (or **Add file lists to search results**), each item also gets a `files` list with name, format, size and direct download `url`.

Items that don't exist or IDs that aren't valid get a free row with a `status` explaining why.

### Pricing

You pay only for items returned. Platform costs are included.

| Event | Price per 1,000 |
|---|---|
| Item scraped | $1.50 |

Set a **Maximum cost per run** in Run options. When it is reached, the actor stops and keeps everything collected so far.

### Good to know

- **favoritesCount** is how many archive.org users favorited the item. Their usernames are not included.
- **Searches cover item details** (title, creator, description, subjects), like the website's "Search metadata". Searching the text inside books is a separate archive.org service and is not included.
- Looking for old versions of websites? Use the **Wayback Machine Scraper**.

# Actor input Schema

## `identifiers` (type: `array`):

Get full details and every file with a download link. One per line, e.g. nasa_apollo11 or https://archive.org/details/nasa_apollo11.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

How many items to collect for each search term. Sorted searches return up to 10,000; choose 'No sorting' for more.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Same sort options as the archive.org search page.

## `mediaTypes` (type: `array`):

Only return these types. Pick one or more.

## `collections` (type: `array`):

Only return items from these collections (the ID from the collection's link), e.g. nasa or prelinger.

## `creators` (type: `array`):

Only return items by these creators, e.g. NASA or Mark Twain.

## `subjects` (type: `array`):

Only return items tagged with these topics, e.g. space or history.

## `languages` (type: `array`):

## `searchIncludeFiles` (type: `boolean`):

Also list every file and download link for each search result. Slower for big searches. Item IDs always include files.

## `fileFormats` (type: `array`):

Keep only files of these formats, e.g. Text PDF, VBR MP3, h.264. Leave empty for all files.
