## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Capterra Reviews Scraper: Ratings, Pros & Cons (No Login)

**Scrape Capterra software reviews with no Capterra account.** Paste product URLs and get every review's star rating, the four sub-scores (**ease of use, features, customer support, value for money**), likelihood to recommend (0-10), **pros, cons and overall comments**, the reviewer's job title and how long they used the product, and the publish date. Each row also carries the product's overall rating and total review count.

**Try it now:** the input is pre-filled with Slack. Click **Start**. 50 reviews take well under a minute.

### What can you do with it?

- **Competitor research**: pull the cons from your competitors' reviews and see what their customers complain about.
- **Win/loss and positioning**: compare sub-scores (support, value for money) across products in your category.
- **Product feedback**: track new reviews of your own product with *Reviewed after*.
- **Negative review mining**: set *Maximum star rating* to 2 to get only 1-2 star reviews.
- **AI and sentiment analysis**: clean, structured pros and cons text, ready for an LLM or a spreadsheet.

### Input

| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `productUrls` | `https://www.capterra.com/p/135003/Slack/` | Product page or its `/reviews/` page. |
| `maxReviewsPerProduct` | `100` | Up to 375 (see limits). |
| `minRating` / `maxRating` | `1` / `2` | Keep only reviews in this star range. |
| `reviewedAfter` | `2026-01-01` | Keep only reviews published on or after this date. |
| `maxItems` | `500` | Total reviews for the run. |

Reviews removed by your filters are never charged.

### Output

A real record from a test run on Nov 2, 2026 (text shortened):

```json
{
  "productName": "Slack", "productCategory": "Team Communication Software",
  "title": "Regular Chat App But Support Team Doesn't Work", "overallRating": 1,
  "easeOfUseRating": 2, "functionalityRating": 2, "customerSupportRating": 1, "valueForMoneyRating": 1,
  "likelihoodToRecommend": 1,
  "pros": "It's a pretty standard chat app. Overall, it works fine...",
  "comments": "We encountered a bug and reported it, but support hasn't even responded...",
  "reviewerName": "Hakan S.", "reviewerJobTitle": "Founder", "reviewerTimeUsedProduct": "3-5 years",
  "publishedAt": "2026-02-14T14:07:21Z", "sourceSite": "CAPTERRA",
  "productOverallRating": 4.7, "productTotalReviews": 24177
}
```

The dataset has a **Reviews** table view and an **All fields** view. Download as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or use the API.

### Pricing

- **$0.001 per review** ($1 per 1,000 reviews), proxy included
- A small start fee of $0.0025 per GB of memory ($0.005 per run at the default 2 GB)

Set *Maximum cost per run* and the scraper stops cleanly when it gets there.

### Limits

- **375 reviews per product**: Capterra shows visitors who are not logged in 15 pages of 25 reviews per product, in its default order. Most products have fewer reviews than that, so you get all of them. For very popular products you get the first 375.
- Sub-scores, cons and industry are empty when the reviewer left them out.
- No keyword search: Capterra's search pages are off limits in its robots.txt, so start from product URLs.
- Capterra uses Cloudflare bot protection. The scraper passes it with a real browser on a residential proxy, then reads pages quietly one at a time. If a page is still blocked it retries with a new session and skips it after five tries.
- Needs 2 GB of memory (the default).

### FAQ

**Do I need a Capterra account or cookies?** No. Only public review pages are read.

**Is it allowed?** It only collects publicly visible reviews and stays out of the paths Capterra's robots.txt disallows. Respect reviewers' privacy and copyright when you reuse the data.

**Affiliation?** This Actor is independent and not affiliated with Capterra or Gartner.

**Something missing?** Open an issue on the Issues tab. We usually reply within a day.

### ⭐ Enjoying it?

# Actor input Schema

## `productUrls` (type: `array`):

Capterra product pages or their review pages, e.g. https://www.capterra.com/p/135003/Slack/ or https://www.capterra.com/p/135003/Slack/reviews/. Open the product on capterra.com and copy the URL.

## `maxReviewsPerProduct` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many reviews for each product. Capterra shows 25 reviews per page and up to 15 pages (375 reviews) per product to visitors who are not logged in, so 375 is the maximum.

## `minRating` (type: `integer`):

Only keep reviews with at least this many stars. Set 1 and Maximum 2 to collect only negative reviews.

## `maxRating` (type: `integer`):

Only keep reviews with at most this many stars.

## `reviewedAfter` (type: `string`):

Only keep reviews published on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD). Filtered reviews are not charged.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of reviews saved across all products.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Capterra sits behind Cloudflare and blocks datacenter IPs. Residential proxy is required and is included in the price.
