## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Maps Extractor: Fast Business Lists

Get **every business Google Maps lists** for a search (`coffee shop` in `Seattle, WA`) as a clean table, **straight from the search results**: name, category, full address, phone, website, rating, review count, opening hours, coordinates, photo, place ID and Google Maps link. It doesn't open each place's page, so it's **fast and cheap**: on Apify, 100 places in under 6 seconds, the first one in under 4. No login, no browser, no proxy setup.

| Name | Category | Rating | Reviews | Phone | Neighborhood |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| [Storyville Coffee Pike Place](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1\&query=Storyville%20Coffee%20Pike%20Place\&query_place_id=ChIJBR3G8LJqkFQRWD2Wzn0qG3c) | Coffee shop | 4.6 | 3,231 | (206) 780-5777 | Pike Pine Retail Core |
| Overcast Coffee | Coffee shop | 4.7 | 316 | (206) 588-2621 | Capitol Hill |
| Moore Coffee Shop | Coffee shop | 4.6 | 1,092 | (206) 724-5638 | Pike Pine Retail Core |

Collected 2026-10-18 (search "coffee shop" in "Seattle, WA", the form's example).

### What you can do

- **List a whole city**: leave the number of places empty and the run goes past Google's ~200 results per query. It takes Google's own ranking first, then asks for every ZIP code inside the city, then covers what's left with a map grid. Results stay inside the location's own boundary (OpenStreetMap), so "Boise, ID" doesn't fill up with Meridian and Nampa. Measured: every dentist in Boise, ID (348 places) in one run.
- **Several searches in one run**: each search term is searched in the location; a place two terms find is kept and charged once.
- **Filter before you pay**: category words, name match, minimum rating, with or without a website, skip closed places. A place a filter leaves out is never charged.
- **Paste Google Maps search links** (`/maps/search/dentist/@43.61,-116.2,13z`): each runs as one more search, at its own map position.

Need more per place? [Google Maps Scraper](https://apify.com/deepmine/google-maps-scraper) adds the star histogram, owner info, plus codes, review topics, up to 15 reviews and 100 photos; [Google Maps Email Extractor](https://apify.com/deepmine/google-maps-email-extractor) adds the emails and social profiles from each business website.

### Pricing

Pay per result, no start fee: **$0.35 per 1,000 places** on the Starter plan ($0.39 Free, $0.29 Scale, $0.25 Business). Each place is charged once per run, even when several search terms find it.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| 🔍 Search terms | What you'd type in Google Maps (`dentist`, `coffee shop`) |
| 📍 Location | City, neighborhood, ZIP, state or country |
| 💯 Number of places per search term | Cap per term (empty = every place in the area) |
| 🌍 Language | Language of names, categories and hours |
| 🎛️ Filters | Categories, name match, minimum rating, website, skip closed |
| 🔗 Google Maps URLs | Maps search links (and place links) |
| 📡 Location by parts / 🛰️ Custom search area | Country, city, state, county, postal code; or a GeoJSON polygon / point + radius |

The input keys are compass/crawler-google-places' (`searchStringsArray`, `locationQuery`, `maxCrawledPlacesPerSearch`, `startUrls`, `categoryFilterWords`...), so an API call written for it works here.

### Output

One row per place. Views: **📊 Overview** (photo, name, category, rating, reviews, phone, website, address, Google Maps link, search, rank), **📈 Stats** and **📍 Location** (address parts, coordinates, time zone).

Fields, in row order: `title`, `subTitle`, `description`, `categoryName`, `address`, `neighborhood`, `street`, `city`, `postalCode`, `state`, `countryCode`, `website`, `phone`, `phoneUnformatted`, `location`, `totalScore`, `permanentlyClosed`, `temporarilyClosed`, `placeId`, `categories`, `fid`, `cid`, `reviewsCount`, `imagesCount`, `reserveTableUrl`, `googleFoodUrl`, `hotelStars`, `hotelDescription`, `checkInDate`, `checkOutDate`, `hotelPrice`, `hotelAds`, `hotelAmenities`, `openingHours`, `openingHoursStatus`, `wasOpenAtScrapeTime`, `additionalOpeningHours`, `additionalInfo`, `gasPrices`, `url`, `language`, `imageUrl`, `imageUrls`, `kgmid`, `businessProfileId`, `tableReservationLinks`, `tableReservationProviders`, `restaurantData`, `orderBy`, `bookingLinks`, `ownerName`, `ownerId`, `ownerProfileUrl`, `domain`, `timezone`, `searchString`, `rank`, `searchPageUrl`, `inputStartUrl`, `inputPlaceId`, `isAdvertisement`, `scrapedAt`.

These are the fields Google's search results carry. `subTitle` and `description` are Google's short line and summary (on restaurants, cafes and hotels), `additionalInfo` the attributes Google lists (accessibility, service options), hotel fields fill on hotels (stars, nightly price, booking offers) and `gasPrices` on gas stations. `openingHours` is filled when Google lists the hours in its results (246 of 348 Boise dentists, 100 of 100 Seattle coffee shops). The row has no reviews, star histogram, owner description, plus code or claim status: those come only from the place's own page.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchStringsArray` (type: `array`):

What you would type in Google Maps, e.g. <strong>dentist</strong> or <strong>coffee shop</strong>. Each term is searched in the location below. A term may name its own place (<strong>pizza in Austin, TX</strong>).

## `locationQuery` (type: `string`):

City, neighborhood, ZIP code, state or country, e.g. <strong>Boise, ID</strong> or <strong>Berlin, Germany</strong>. Results stay inside the location's own boundary (a city search doesn't spill into its suburbs). Large areas are searched ZIP code by ZIP code and tile by tile automatically. Empty = Google picks the area your term names.

## `maxCrawledPlacesPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

Places each search term returns at most, e.g. 500. Empty = every place Google Maps has for it in the location.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language of names, categories, hours and reviews, as Google Maps shows them.

## `categoryFilterWords` (type: `array`):

Keep only places with a category containing one of these words, e.g. <strong>dentist</strong>, <strong>orthodontist</strong>. Empty = every category. Places left out are not charged.

## `searchMatching` (type: `string`):

Keep only places whose name contains the search term, or is exactly the search term.

## `placeMinimumStars` (type: `string`):

Keep only places rated at least this. Places without a rating are left out when this is set.

## `website` (type: `string`):

Keep only places with a website (for lead lists), or only places without one.

## `skipClosedPlaces` (type: `boolean`):

Leave out places marked temporarily or permanently closed.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Search links (<code>https://www.google.com/maps/search/dentist/@43.61,-116.2,13z</code>) run as one more search term. Place links (<code>https://www.google.com/maps/place/...</code>, <code>maps.app.goo.gl/...</code>) work too.

## `countryCode` (type: `string`):

Used with the fields below when 📍 Location is empty; also sets the Google country, e.g. <strong>de</strong>. Two letters.

## `city` (type: `string`):

e.g. <strong>Pittsburgh</strong>.

## `state` (type: `string`):

e.g. <strong>Massachusetts</strong>.

## `county` (type: `string`):

e.g. <strong>King County</strong>.

## `postalCode` (type: `string`):

e.g. <strong>10001</strong>. Combine with 🗺️ Country.

## `customGeolocation` (type: `object`):

A GeoJSON Polygon or MultiPolygon (\[longitude, latitude] order), or a Point with <code>radiusKm</code>. Overrides the location. Only places inside are kept.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Leave as is: Apify datacenter proxy works for Google Maps. A call every datacenter IP refused is retried once on a residential IP.
