## Pricing

from $0.24 / 1,000 trending searches

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Google Trending Now API: Daily Search Trends

Google Trending Now scraper and API: pick countries or US states and get every search trending there in the past 4 hours to 7 days, with search volume, growth, start time, related queries and the news stories behind each trend.

Collected 2026-10-03 from a run of this Actor.

**$0.69 per 1,000 trends on Starter** ($0.89 Free, $0.45 Scale, $0.24 Business). The prefilled run (100 US trends) costs about $0.07. News is included, and there's no start fee.

### What you get for each trend

- **The trend**: the search term, Google's rank, search volume (`500000`, shown as `500K+`), growth in % over normal, and a `score` from 1 to 1,000 (its volume against the location's biggest trend; 1,000 = the biggest).
- **Timing**: when it started trending, when it ended (or `isActive: true` while it's still rising) and how many hours so far.
- **Categories**: Sports, Entertainment, Politics and Google's 16 others.
- **Related queries**: the other searches Google groups into the trend.
- **News**: up to 20 stories per trend (3 by default), each with the headline, the publisher's own link (not a Google redirect), the source, the time and an image. The top story's headline, link and source also sit in their own columns, and its image is the row's picture.
- A link to the trend on Google Trends, the location, the window and when it was read.

### Use cases

- **Newsrooms and creators**: see what people search right now in a country or state, with the stories behind each trend, and write while it's rising.
- **Marketing and social teams**: catch trends in your category (Sports, Shopping, Technology...) for posts, ads and newsletters.
- **Research and dashboards**: schedule it hourly or daily and keep a history of every trending search with volume, growth, start and end time.

### How to use it

1. Pick one or more **Locations**: any country, or a state or region (California, Bavaria, Ontario...).
2. Pick the window (**Trending in the past** 4 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours or 7 days), and if you like **Categories** and **Status** (still trending or ended).
3. Run it, or schedule it hourly to watch trends as they start. Download as JSON, CSV or Excel, or use the API, Make, Zapier or n8n.

Trends come in Google's own order (most relevant first), with `rank`; *Sort by* in the Advanced section also offers search volume, newest first and A-Z.

### Output

One row per trending search. Overview columns: picture, trend, searches, growth %, active, started, categories, related queries, top news headline and link, location and rank. A Stats view lists the numbers, score included.

Fields, in row order: `picture`, `term`, `rank`, `searchVolume`, `searchVolumeFormatted`, `percentIncrease`, `score`, `isActive`, `startedAt`, `endedAt`, `durationHours`, `categories`, `relatedQueries`, `topNewsTitle`, `topNewsUrl`, `topNewsSource`, `newsArticles`, `pictureSource`, `newsStatus`, `categoryIds`, `geo`, `geoName`, `timeframeHours`, `language`, `trendsUrl`, `scrapedAt`. Empty means Google sent nothing for it (`null`).

A location Google has no Trending Now list for, or one where nothing matched your filters, gets a free row in the **Issues** dataset with the reason. The run summary (`OUTPUT` in the key-value store) lists each location's count.

Pictures are Google's news thumbnails (`encrypted-tbn*.gstatic.com`); `newsStatus` says `none` when Google shows no news for a trend and `failed` if the news couldn't be read (the trend is still delivered).

### Reliability

One call per location lists every trend, and one more call fetches the news for 10 trends at once: the prefilled run (100 US trends) takes about 4 seconds, and 1,304 trends from 8 countries about 10 seconds (run time in the Console, 2026-10-05). Runs get 1 GB of memory by default, which keeps them fast when Apify's servers are busy; it doesn't change what you pay. A refused call is retried on another IP at once. No browser and no residential proxy. A restarted run (an Apify migration, or a resurrect) skips the trends it already delivered, so none is charged twice, and Max trends per location counts the whole run.

### FAQ

**How is this different from Google's RSS feed?** The RSS feed has about 10 trends per country. Trending Now has every trend Google lists (US, past 24 hours: 487 on 2026-10-04), with volume, growth, start and end times and categories.

**What does the search volume mean?** It's Google's lower bound for searches in the window (`500K+` = 500,000 or more).

**Keyword history?** Use our [Google Trends API](https://apify.com/deepmine/google-trends-api) for interest over time, by region and related queries for any keyword.

# Actor input Schema

## `geo` (type: `array`):

Countries or regions (states, provinces) to list trending searches for. Each location is one call to Google.

## `hours` (type: `string`):

Google's Trending Now window.

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Only trends in these categories. Empty = all.

## `status` (type: `string`):

Trends still rising now, trends that have ended, or both.

## `maxTrendsPerLocation` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many trends per location, e.g. 100. Empty = every trend Google lists (US, past 24 hours: 337-487 on 2026-10-04/06). You pay per trend.

## `newsPerTrend` (type: `integer`):

The news stories Google shows with each trend (title, publisher link, source, time, image). 0 = none. Included in the price.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Order of the trends in each location. Max trends per location keeps the first ones in this order.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language Google uses for the trends and news (e.g. en-US, de, ja).

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Leave as is: Google Trends answers Apify's datacenter proxy (no proxy traffic for you). A residential pick is switched to datacenter.
