## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## UK Product Safety Recalls & MHRA Drug/Device Alerts Monitor

A structured, schedulable feed of every **UK product safety recall and report** (Office for Product Safety & Standards) and every **MHRA medicines and medical device alert**, taken from GOV.UK. Each alert includes its product category, risk level, corrective measures (recall, withdrawal, import rejected at border, marketplace listing removed), dates, attachments and full text.

### Who it's for

- **Amazon, eBay and Etsy sellers, importers and marketplaces**: check that you're not listing recalled or border-rejected products.
- **Retail compliance, insurers and product liability lawyers**: get daily monitoring by category and risk.
- **Pharmacies, dispensing GP practices and medtech QA**: get MHRA class 1–4 recalls and device alerts, filtered by keyword.
- **Journalists and consumer sites**: get a clean recall feed without copy-pasting from GOV.UK.

### Monitoring mode

Turn on **Only alerts not seen in previous runs** and schedule the actor daily. You'll only receive and pay for new alerts. Pair it with an Apify Slack, email or webhook integration to get notified.

### Example output

```json
{"source":"OPSS product safety","title":"Product Recall: ASDA Men's Hiker Boots and Shoes (2610-0025)","publishedAt":"2026-10-06T16:17:12Z","alertType":"product-recall","productCategory":"clothing-textiles-fashion","riskLevel":"serious","measures":["recall-of-product-from-end-users"],"url":"https://www.gov.uk/product-safety-alerts-reports-recalls/...","bodyText":"..."}
```

### Filters

Sources, published-from date, keyword, product categories, risk levels, full text on or off, and max results.

### Pricing

**$2.00 per 1,000 alerts** ($0.002 each), plus a $0.005 start fee. A daily monitor costs a few cents a month. A full history backfill of a few thousand alerts costs a few dollars.

# Actor input Schema

## `sources` (type: `array`):

Sources

## `publishedFrom` (type: `string`):

Leave empty for all history (subject to Max results).

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

Remembers alert URLs in a named key-value store so scheduled runs return (and bill) only new alerts.

## `keyword` (type: `string`):

Optional free-text search, e.g. 'Amazon', 'insulin', 'e-bike'.

## `productCategories` (type: `array`):

e.g. toys, electrical-appliances-and-equipment, cosmetics, motor-vehicles, childcare-articles-and-childrens-equipment. Empty = all.

## `riskLevels` (type: `array`):

e.g. serious, high, medium, low. Empty = all.

## `includeFullText` (type: `boolean`):

Fetch each alert page for metadata (category, risk, measures) and plain-text body.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

0 = no limit.

}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
One row per OPSS product safety report or MHRA alert: date, source, type, title, category, risk, measures and URL.
You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.
## JavaScript example
```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';

// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});

// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};

// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("denjino/uk-safety-alerts-recalls").call(input);

// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
