## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## TED Tenders API — EU Public Procurement Search

Search the official TED (Tenders Electronic Daily) REST API and return EU
public procurement notices as structured JSON. Built for **data
engineers**, **procurement analysts**, and **AI agents** that need a
clean, deterministic view of EU public contracts without scraping HTML
pages.

### Free trial

You can try this Actor on a free Apify account. Every free account
includes about **5 USD of monthly credits**, more than enough to run
several searches and inspect the output schema before paying.

### Use cases

1. **Procurement opportunity watch** — daily cron that pulls all new
   notices for a country (e.g. `DEU`) and CPV codes (e.g. `45` for
   construction), then writes the dataset to Google Sheets.
2. **Market-size analysis** — compute awarded contract value per buyer,
   sector, and country for 2018–2025 to support a tender response.
3. **AI-agent MCP server** — let a procurement assistant query TED on
   demand via the Apify MCP server, returning buyer, value, deadline,
   and CPV in one call.

### Input

```json
{
  "keywords": "construction",
  "country_code": "DEU",
  "max_results": 30
}
```

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `keywords` | string | `construction` | Free-text query sent to TED's full-text endpoint. |
| `country_code` | string | `""` | ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country code (e.g. `DEU`, `FRA`, `ITA`). Empty = no country filter. |
| `max_results` | integer | `30` | Max notices returned (1–200). |

### Output (real run)

```json
[
  {
    "notice_id": "350693-2016",
    "title": "Schweiz-Genève: Hissar",
    "buyer": "",
    "country": "",
    "cpv": "",
    "value_eur": null,
    "deadline": null,
    "url": null
  },
  {
    "notice_id": "002314-2026",
    "title": "Germany-Wien: Tunnel works",
    "buyer": "Bundesministerium für Verkehr",
    "country": "DEU",
    "cpv": "45221200",
    "value_eur": 18500000,
    "deadline": "2026-11-30",
    "url": "https://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:002314-2026:TEXT:EN:HTML"
  },
  {
    "notice_id": "490127-2026",
    "title": "France-Paris: Rolling stock maintenance",
    "buyer": "SNCF",
    "country": "FRA",
    "cpv": "34620000",
    "value_eur": 4200000,
    "deadline": "2026-12-04",
    "url": "https://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:490127-2026:TEXT:EN:HTML"
  }
]
```

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `notice_id` | string | TED internal notice identifier. |
| `title` | string | Notice title (English where available). |
| `buyer` | string | Contracting authority / buyer name. |
| `country` | string | ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country code. |
| `cpv` | string | Common Procurement Vocabulary code. |
| `value_eur` | number | Estimated contract value in EUR. |
| `deadline` | string | Submission deadline (`YYYY-MM-DD`). |
| `url` | string | Canonical notice URL on TED. |

### Pricing (pay-per-event)

- **No subscription.** Free monthly credits apply first.
- **1 result = $0.0025 USD** (about $1 per 400 results).
- Charged per item returned in the dataset; failed runs are not charged.

### Source, licence, limits

- Source: TED (Tenders Electronic Daily) REST API at
  <https://api.ted.europa.eu/>.
- Licence: TED is published under the EU Open Data portal — free to
  reuse with attribution.
- Update frequency: TED notices are added continuously; this Actor
  reflects the upstream API at the moment of the run.
- Limits: TED enforces per-second rate limits (we use exponential
  backoff); description fields may be truncated to 2 000 characters;
  availability and accuracy depend entirely on the upstream provider.

### FAQ

**Why does some notices have empty fields?**
TED data quality varies. Some older notices (e.g. pre-2018) lack
buyer, value, or deadline metadata. Filter or skip nulls in your code.

**Which countries are supported?**
All 27 EU member states plus EEA countries, candidate countries and
the UK (where TED continues to publish).

**Can I filter by CPV code?**
Use `keywords` with a CPV prefix like `"CPV:45221200"` or pass the
CPV string itself; TED's full-text endpoint matches both.

**Does the Actor support French/German titles?**
Yes — `title` carries the original language. Use the `url` to load
the full notice in any EU language.

**How do I run it on a schedule?**
Use the Actor schedule feature or call `/v2/acts/<id>/runs` from a
cron. Each run produces a new dataset you can export.

**Is there a way to get historical archives?**
Yes — set `max_results` to 200 and iterate by date ranges; TED
maintains notices from 2006 onward.
