## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bulk Lighthouse Audit

Run **Google Lighthouse** on hundreds of URLs in one go and get a clean table of scores, Core Web Vitals, and the fixes that matter most for every page, on mobile and desktop.

Lighthouse is the open-source engine behind PageSpeed Insights and Chrome DevTools audits. This Actor runs it in the cloud for you, one page at a time so results stay consistent.

### What you get for each URL

- **Scores (0–100):** Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, SEO.
- **Lab metrics:** Largest Contentful Paint, Cumulative Layout Shift, Total Blocking Time, First Contentful Paint, Speed Index, Time to Interactive.
- **Core Web Vitals ratings:** good / needs improvement / poor for LCP, CLS and TBT (the lab stand-in for INP).
- **Top fixes:** the performance issues with the biggest estimated time and byte savings, ranked.
- **Optional full HTML report** for each audit.
- **Optional real-user data:** add your own Google API key to include Chrome UX Report field data (75th percentile LCP, INP, CLS, FCP, TTFB) and a pass/fail verdict.

### Use cases

- Audit a whole site or a list of landing pages before and after a release.
- Monitor Core Web Vitals weekly with a schedule and catch regressions.
- Compare your pages against competitors'.
- Produce client-ready SEO and accessibility audits for agencies.

### Input

| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| URLs | One per line, up to 500 per run |
| Device | Mobile, desktop, or both |
| Categories | Any of Performance, Accessibility, Best practices, SEO |
| Save full HTML reports | Store and link the full Lighthouse report |
| Your Google API key | Optional; enables real-user field data |

### Pricing

Pay per completed audit (one URL on one device). Failed audits, such as pages that don't load, aren't charged. Set a maximum charge per run to cap spending.

### Notes

- Lab results use Lighthouse's standard simulated throttling, so scores are comparable between runs, though they can differ slightly from PageSpeed Insights, which runs on Google's own machines.
- Only audit sites you own or have permission to test. Each audit loads the page once, like a normal visitor.

### Data sources and terms

- Audits run the open-source [Lighthouse](https://github.com/GoogleChrome/lighthouse) (Apache 2.0) on Apify's servers. No Google API is called on your behalf unless you add your own key.
- Real-user data comes from the Chrome UX Report API only when you supply your own Google API key, under your own agreement with Google.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Pages to audit, one per line (up to 500). URLs without http(s):// get https:// added. Only audit sites you own or are allowed to test.

## `strategies` (type: `array`):

Mobile emulates a mid-range phone on a throttled connection (Lighthouse defaults); desktop uses Lighthouse's desktop settings. Each URL × device is one billed audit.

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Which Lighthouse categories to score.

## `saveHtmlReports` (type: `boolean`):

Store the complete Lighthouse HTML report for each audit and link it from the results.

## `googleApiKey` (type: `string`):

Add your own Google Cloud API key with the Chrome UX Report API enabled to include real-user Core Web Vitals (75th percentile) for each URL or its site. Requests run under your key and Google's terms. No extra charge.
