## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Company ID Finder: Netherlands, Belgium & Nordics

**The company behind a Dutch, Belgian, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian or Finnish website, read from the site and checked by control digit:**

- **Netherlands:** KvK number, btw-id (VAT ID), legal form (B.V., N.V., Stichting) and address;
- **Belgium:** enterprise number (KBO/BCE), VAT ID, RPR/RPM register and address;
- **Denmark:** CVR number, legal form (A/S, ApS) and address;
- **Sweden:** organisationsnummer and VAT ID (AB);
- **Norway:** organisasjonsnummer, MVA registration (AS, ASA) and address;
- **Finland:** Y-tunnus (Business ID) and ALV number (Oy, Oyj).

Every number that has a control digit is checked with it (KBO modulus 97, CVR modulus 11, Swedish Luhn, Norwegian modulus 11, the Y-tunnus control, both Dutch VAT ID rules), so an IBAN, a phone number or a mistyped number is not taken. Swedish personal identity numbers (sole traders) are personal data and are never read.

### Who uses it

- **KYB, onboarding and fraud checks:** match a merchant's website to its official company number, then look it up in the national register (KvK, KBO, CVR, Bolagsverket, Brønnøysund, PRH).
- **B2B lead enrichment:** add the legal name, company number and VAT ID to a list of Benelux and Nordic domains before invoicing or CRM import.
- **Marketplaces and compliance:** check that a seller's shop shows the company data EU law requires.

### What you get

One row per website:

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `domain`, `country` | jysk.dk, DK |
| `companyName`, `legalForm` | JYSK A/S, A/S |
| `companyId`, `companyIdType` | 13590400, CVR number (or KvK number, Enterprise number, Organisationsnummer, Organisasjonsnummer, Y-tunnus) |
| `vatId`, `vatIdValid` | BE0473416418, true (when the site shows it) |
| `register` | RPR Antwerpen, afdeling Mechelen; Handelsregister (KvK); Foretaksregisteret |
| `address` | Sødalsparken 18, 8220 Brabrand |
| `emails` | Emails on the page |
| `otherCompanies` | Other companies named with a valid number (a parent company, a branch in another country) |
| `sourceUrl`, `status`, `error`, `pagesVisited`, `scrapedAt` | Where the data was read, or why not |

The **OUTPUT** record has the status of each website and the count by country.

### Input

A few well-known shops:

```json
{
  "websites": ["jysk.dk", "telenet.be", "picnic.app", "cdon.se", "skeidar.no"]
}
```

Danish webshops, read faster:

```json
{
  "websites": ["hifiklubben.dk", "billigvvs.dk", "imerco.dk", "harald-nyborg.dk"],
  "maxConcurrency": 10
}
```

Full URLs work too:

```json
{
  "websites": ["https://www.karkkainen.com/", "https://www.mestergronn.no/"]
}
```

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `websites` | Domains or URLs, one per line (up to 10,000 per run). |
| `maxConcurrency` | Websites read in parallel (5 by default); each website gets one request at a time. |

### How much it costs

Pay per event: **only for websites where a company number was found**. Websites without one, blocked or unreachable are saved with the reason and cost nothing. Measured on 2026-10-02: 11 of 14 well-known sites identified (the other 3 refuse robots), most from the homepage alone.

### Use it from AI agents (MCP)

Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any other MCP client can run this Actor as a tool: add `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=digital_influx/benelux-nordic-company-ids` as a remote MCP server and sign in with your Apify account. It is also one of the tools of Company Research MCP (`digital_influx/company-research-mcp`), by the same author, made for agents.

### Good to know

- **Where the number is read:** the homepage footer first (most Dutch, Belgian and Danish shops print it there), then the contact, legal or about page the homepage links (*contact*, *colofon*, *kontakt*, *yhteystiedot*), then the usual contact path of the site's country.
- **One company per row:** when a page names several, the row has the one named most often, and the others go to `otherCompanies`. A Dutch site that shows only its btw-id gets that VAT ID as its company number.
- **A KvK number has no control digit:** it is read only after its label (KvK, Kamer van Koophandel, Chamber of Commerce).
- **Pages built with JavaScript** show no text to a simple reader: those rows say `no_data` and are free.
- **Respectful by design:** robots.txt is followed for this robot (`benelux-nordic-company-ids`), and a site that answers 403 is reported, never worked around.
- **Other countries:** German Impressum Scraper (`german-impressum`) for Germany, Austria and Switzerland; Legal Notice Extractor (`eu-legal-notice`) for France, Italy, Spain and the UK.

### Sources

The company data that EU and EEA law requires business websites to show (Directive 2000/31/EC on electronic commerce, art. 5: trade register number and VAT number). The Actor reads only these public pages; it does not query any register.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many websites are read in parallel. Each website gets one request at a time.
