## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## App Review Insights: App Store & Google Play

Turn hundreds of app reviews into a one-page answer to **"what are users complaining about, and is it getting better or worse?"**

Give it any iOS App Store ID or Google Play package name (yours or a competitor's) and get:

- **Complaint themes**: crashes/bugs, login, ads, pricing/subscriptions, performance, UI changes, notifications, sync/data loss, support, privacy. Each comes with counts, its share of reviews, and real example quotes.
- **Rating by app version**: see which release hurt your rating.
- **Weekly rating trend**.
- **Feature requests**: sentences like "please add…", "I wish…", "it would be nice if…", pulled out of the reviews.
- **Top phrases** used by unhappy and by happy users.
- A ready-to-share **Markdown report** per app, plus structured JSON for your own dashboards.

Optionally, it also exports every raw review (rating, title, text, version, date) as JSON.

### Who it's for

- **App developers and product managers**: triage what to fix next, and check whether a release helped.
- **Agencies and consultants**: produce a competitor review audit in minutes.
- **Market researchers**: compare several apps side by side in one run.

### Input

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| App Store IDs | `284882215` (the number after `id` in the App Store URL) |
| Google Play package names | `com.spotify.music` |
| Country | `us` |
| Max reviews per app | `300` |
| Include raw reviews | `false` |

You can mix both stores and add many apps in a single run.

### Output

- **Dataset**: one insight report row per app.
- **Key-value store**: `REPORT-<store>-<id>` Markdown report per app, `REVIEWS-<store>-<id>` raw reviews as JSON (if enabled), and `OUTPUT` with all reports.

### Example report (excerpt)

Spotify on Google Play, 271 recent English reviews:

| Theme | Negative mentions | Share of reviews | Avg rating when mentioned |
|---|---|---|---|
| pricing_subscription | 22 | 16% | 2.6 |
| ads | 19 | 13% | 2.6 |
| crashes_bugs | 5 | 3% | 2.12 |

| Version | Reviews | Avg rating |
|---|---|---|
| 9.1.92.3058 | 184 | 3.79 |
| 9.1.94.1923 | 5 | 2.4 |

Feature requests found: *"could you please make it work offline?"*, *"bring back the 3x1 widget."*

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small fee per app report, plus a tiny per-review fee only when you export raw reviews. Analyzing one app costs well under a dollar.

### Notes and limits

- It uses Apple's public customer-review feed, which returns up to 500 of the most recent reviews per country. Google Play supports more.
- Theme detection is keyword based and works best on English reviews.
- It only collects publicly posted reviews. Reviewer names are shown exactly as the stores display them.
