## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEO Audit & Broken Link Checker

Crawl any website and get a **page-by-page SEO audit, a 0–100 site score and a prioritized fix list** in minutes. There's no software to install and no monthly subscription: you pay only for the pages you audit.

### What it checks on every page

| Area | Checks |
|---|---|
| **Indexing** | HTTP status, redirects and redirect chains, noindex, canonical (missing or pointing elsewhere) |
| **Titles and descriptions** | Missing, too long, too short, duplicated across pages |
| **Content** | Missing or multiple H1s, thin content (under 200 words) |
| **Links** | Broken internal and external links (404s, 5xx, dead domains), and the pages they appear on |
| **Images** | Images with no alt text |
| **Mobile and tech** | Viewport tag, `lang` attribute, mixed content (http assets on https pages), HTML size, slow server response |
| **Social and schema** | Open Graph tags, JSON-LD structured data |
| **Site level** | **www vs non-www duplication** (both hosts serving the same pages), **http → https redirect**, robots.txt, sitemap reference, duplicate titles, slowest and lowest-scoring pages |

Every issue is labeled **error**, **warning** or **notice**, so you know what to fix first.

### Output

- **Page audit table**: one row per page with its title, description, H1s, canonical, word count, response time, issues and a score.
- **Site summary**: site score, issue counts by priority, every broken link with the pages it appears on, duplicate titles, and the slowest pages.
- **Markdown report**: a ready-to-send audit for clients or your team.

### Example (excerpt)

A 25-page sandbox site:

| Severity | Issue | Pages |
|---|---|---|
| warning | HTTPS page loads http:// resources | 25 |
| warning | Title duplicated on other pages | 2 |
| warning | Missing meta description | 2 |
| notice | No canonical link | 25 |

### Who it's for

- **Agencies and freelancers**: run client audits and win new clients with a free audit.
- **Site owners**: find broken links and quick SEO wins before Google does.
- **Developers**: add an SEO and link check to a deploy pipeline through the API.

### Pricing

**Pay per audited page.** Link checking is included at no extra cost. Set "Max pages" to control spend; the Actor also respects Apify's maximum-charge-per-run setting.

### Good to know

- It's a fast HTTP crawler with no browser, so it audits the HTML your server returns. Content rendered only by JavaScript isn't seen.
- It respects robots.txt by default, crawls politely (5 parallel requests by default) and identifies itself as `SEOAuditBot`.
- Links that block bots (status 401, 403, 429, 999 or Cloudflare 52x, as LinkedIn and X do) are listed separately as "couldn't verify", not counted as broken.
- Please audit sites you own or are authorized to audit.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Homepage (or any page) of the site(s) to audit. The crawler follows internal links on the same domain.

## `maxPages` (type: `integer`):

Maximum pages to crawl and audit (you are charged per audited page).

## `maxDepth` (type: `integer`):

How many clicks away from the start URL to follow.

## `checkLinks` (type: `boolean`):

Check external links (and internal ones beyond the page limit) for 404s and errors. Included in the page price.

## `maxLinkChecks` (type: `integer`):

Cap on extra link checks per run.

## `respectRobotsTxt` (type: `boolean`):

Skip pages the site's robots.txt disallows. Turn off only for sites you own.

## `includeQueryUrls` (type: `boolean`):

Off = '/page?x=1' and '/page' count as the same page (avoids crawling endless filter combinations).

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

Parallel requests to the site. Keep low to be polite to small servers.
