## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Keyword Metrics Pro

Get Google keyword search volume, CPC, competition, bid estimates, and monthly trends for up to **1,000 keywords in a single run**.

**Live on Apify Store:** https://apify.com/dokelab/keyword-metrics-pro

Paste your keywords, choose a location and language, and click **Start**.

**No DataForSEO account. No DataForSEO API key. No provider setup.**

***

### From keywords to metrics in a few clicks

Using Keyword Metrics Pro is simple:

1. Paste up to **1,000 keywords**
2. Choose your target location
3. Choose your language
4. Click **Start**
5. View, export, or use the structured results through Apify

You do not need to create or fund a separate DataForSEO account, configure
authentication, build provider requests, parse responses, or manage batching.

Keyword Metrics Pro handles the provider integration for you.

***

### What you get

For each keyword, Keyword Metrics Pro can return:

| Metric | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `keyword` | The keyword being analyzed |
| `search_volume` | Average keyword search volume |
| `competition` | Google Ads competition level: LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH |
| `competition_index` | Competition score from 0 to 100 |
| `cpc` | Estimated cost per click |
| `low_top_of_page_bid` | Lower estimated top-of-page bid |
| `high_top_of_page_bid` | Higher estimated top-of-page bid |
| `monthly_searches` | Historical monthly search-volume data |
| `location_code` | Location used for the lookup |
| `language_code` | Language used for the lookup |
| `cache_hit` | Whether the result was served from cache |
| `fetched_at` | When the metrics were retrieved |
| `status` | Processing status for the keyword |

Missing provider values are returned as `null`.

Keyword Metrics Pro does not convert missing metrics into artificial zero values.

***

### Quick start

#### Example input

```json
{
  "keywords": [
    "web hosting",
    "seo tools",
    "keyword research"
  ],
  "locationCode": 2840,
  "languageCode": "en",
  "includeMonthlySearches": true,
  "freshnessDays": 7
}
```

`freshnessDays` controls how recent a cached result must be before fresh data is requested.

Set it to `0` when you want a fresh lookup.

***

### Pricing

Keyword Metrics Pro uses **Pay Per Event** pricing.

- **Keyword result:** $1.70 per 1,000 useful keyword results
- **Fresh data lookup:** $0.19 when a fresh provider lookup is required
- **Platform usage:** included

The fresh lookup charge is applied once per batch when fresh data is required.

Example costs:

| Run | Price |
| --- | ---: |
| 10 useful fresh keyword results | $0.207 |
| 100 useful fresh keyword results | $0.36 |
| 1,000 useful fresh keyword results | $1.89 |
| 1,000 useful cached keyword results | $1.70 |

Cached results do not require the fresh lookup charge.

Keywords that do not produce a useful result are not charged as keyword-result events.

You do not need your own DataForSEO subscription, account, balance, or API credentials.

***

### Cache and freshness

Keyword Metrics Pro can reuse recent results to avoid unnecessary upstream lookups.

- `cache_hit: true` means the result was served from cache
- `cache_hit: false` means fresh provider data was used
- `fetched_at` shows when the underlying metrics were retrieved
- `freshnessDays` lets you choose the maximum acceptable cache age

This makes repeated analysis faster while still allowing fresh data when needed.

***

### Notes

Keyword metrics are based on data returned by the upstream Google Ads keyword-data provider.

Search volume, CPC, competition, bids, and monthly history may be unavailable for
some keywords. When the provider does not return a metric, the value remains `null`
instead of being guessed or replaced with zero.

The Actor returns one structured row per processed keyword and can be used from the
Apify Console, API, integrations, or automation workflows.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

1–1000 strings before normalization. Empty strings are removed. Exact trimmed duplicates are combined. Provider limit per keyword: 80 characters and 10 words.

## `locationCode` (type: `integer`):

DataForSEO location code. Cannot be combined with locationName.

## `locationName` (type: `string`):

Full DataForSEO location name, for example United States. Cannot be combined with locationCode.

## `languageCode` (type: `string`):

Optional supported language code, for example en. Omission leaves language targeting to DataForSEO.

## `includeMonthlySearches` (type: `boolean`):

When disabled, monthly_searches remains present with a null value.

## `freshnessDays` (type: `integer`):

0 bypasses reads from cache. This controls retrieval age, not the age of Google's underlying monthly statistics.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "keywords": [
    "coffee",
    "tea",
    "shoes",
    "laptop",
    "hotel"
  ],
  "includeMonthlySearches": true,
  "freshnessDays": 7
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

The main structured keyword dataset containing search volume, CPC, competition, bid estimates, monthly trends, cache metadata, and processing status.

## `runSummary` (type: `string`):

The run-level summary stored under the OUTPUT record in the default key-value store.
